Lucas rubbed his eyes to see whether what he saw was real or not because it says

<The rank 5 and above rank evil portals will release an extremely dense evil energy that makes any barrier dissolve into nothing>

After reading it, Lucas felt the difficulty of the disaster reached another level.

'If there is no barrier, then my invincible prowess will also disappear along with it. Then, it will be really disastrous for me and my town.'

Lucas knew that the disaster he picked was going to be very dangerous.

'However, it is a very good opportunity for my family to become an Earl grade family and at the same time, I can gain the experience I need to increase my spells and skills.'

Actually, Lucas didn't have any choice now since he had already picked the disaster and to motivate himself, he continuously muttered about the advantages he would gain by surviving this disaster.

'Yes, I can do this. If I can't even survive such an easy disaster; how am I going to go against the mysterious organization and save Evan?'

It took quite some time for Lucas to convince himself that he could do the mission.

According to Lucas, one needs to have faith in himself in accomplishing something; otherwise, even a small setback would make him give up on accomplishing it.

So, the first thing he did was to convince before starting planning out what he had to do for the upcoming disaster.

'I need to evolve at least three lynxes during these three days.'

The main event that can change the tides of the disaster was having more rank 5 spirit beasts on his side.

Even though he could enter the Myriad primordial forest to tame some spirit beasts, it is still very hard to tame a rank 4 spirit beast, not to mention a rank 5 spirit beast.

'If only there were more lynx type spirit beasts in the primordial forest, then it would have been an easy task for me to tame them.'

The only reason he was able to tame a 12 rank 4 spirit beast at once was because of his skill [Lynx master]; however, it would not work on the regular spirit beasts.

With the increase in the spirit beasts' rank, it would be harder to tame them because they would gain the intelligence of an adult human and didn't like to become tamed spirit beasts except for the rare situations. Which Lucas was very sure would not happen for him in the next three days.

So, he could only think of evolving the existing spirit beasts under his care and since it was easy for him to evolve the lynx type spirit beasts, he decided to evolve at least three of them.

'With evolution, their ranks would be upgraded to rank 5 just like the elemental lynxes and it would help me a lot to withstand the evil spirit beasts.'

That was his first plan and he started making his preparation one after another, with careful planning.

Maybe, it was because he was busy with the preparations for the upcoming disaster, Lucas felt that the time had passed by very quickly that two and half days passed by in a flash.

During the two days, Lucas was not only pushing himself to the limits but he did the same with his followers and the youngsters who were in the special training program.

'Tomorrow is the big day and I have to survive the disaster at any cost.'

The entire town was very peaceful at night; however, Lucas and everyone living in the town knew that it was calm before the storm.

After Lucas inform everyone about the evil portals, everyone was excited because they would receive great benefits from the heavens last time when they fought against the evil spirit beasts.

So, they were looking forward to it; however, what Lucas didn't inform them was the number of rank 5 evil spirit beasts they would be fighting tomorrow as it would destroy their morale even before the fight started.

'Even though I know no one is a coward to run away from town in the middle of the town, I need to keep their morale.'

This was Lucas' reasoning as to why he didn't tell them the complete truth about the evil portals; however, he would be doing everything in his power to protect the town.

Even though it's been only two and half days since they fought with the assassins and the representatives from the Alverton firmament, everyone had grown quite a bit, making Lucas satisfied with their progress.

'All that is left to do right now is evolving the lynxes.'

Lucas looked through the window and thought, 'Beck must have finished all the ingredients I have said. It's evolution time for the lynxes.'

Lucas spared a bit of time during these two and half days and noted down all the evolutionary paths of all the lynxes under his care along with the ingredients.

After that, he ordered all his followers to collect them from the Myriad primordial forest or travelling merchants or some random adventurers that were entering the myriad primordial forest.

'Before I enter the lynx lair, I better use the skill enhancement crystal to upgrade one of level 1 skills.'

Lucas didn't rush to the lynx lair because he still had enough time before the disaster began.

With a thought, a list of all the skills had appeared in front of him.

'Except for this one skill, all skills are at level 2. Not bad. Now, I will use the skill enhancement crystal to upgrade it.'

  Since he stayed nearly a month in the wilderness, all his skills gained enough experience and upgraded to level 2, except for a single skill.

'I want to upgrade [Night fury]'

With the level of the skill enhancement crystal in his hands, Lucas could only upgrade a level 1 skill. So, he didn't have much of a choice here and directly used the crystal on it.
