Sawyer's head blasted like a watermelon as blood and brain mucas spilt everywhere.

'...'

Reece and Harper looked at the scene of Sawyer's head and then speechlessly looked at Lucas wondering, 'Why did he want to silently leave when he had such a powerful talisman with him?'

However, they didn't bother to ask Lucas; instead, they were excited after seeing the monster that killed their friends.

"I wanted to save the talisman for later use; however, you two wanted to avenge your friends. So, I don't have a choice other than using it up."

As though he sensed what they were puzzled with, Lucas explained the reason for his earlier behaviour.

'Also, I needed him to tire himself out and should be completely focused on the shadow wyvern; otherwise, he would have dodged it without much difficulty.'

Lucas didn't tell these words to them; instead, he muttered them to himself.

'Swoosh'

With the death of Sawyer, the vines that were binding Lucas and others turned into ashes.

Congratulations to the host for successfully completing the mission 'Help the adventurers'.

Lucas got the system notification informing him about the completion of the mission.

As soon as the vines disappeared, both Harper and Reece fell to their knees and swore their loyalty to him.

Even though they already decided to follow Lucas, they wanted to complete the standard procedure of becoming the followers.

Lucas didn't stop them as he allowed them to kneel for a few seconds before saying, "You can stand up now and go back to your place. Finish all your matters and come to the Raindrop manor."

Since Lucas still had a mission to complete, he asked Reece and Harper to leave the wilderness.

"We will finish our things as soon as possible and look for you, Master."

They changed their way of addressing as they politely said those words to Lucas.

Without wasting any time, they pick the ten corpses before saying goodbyes to Lucas.

'Before I check the rewards for killing the tier 1 general knight, let me check on the shadow wyvern.'

Lucas slowly walked towards the rank 4 shadow wyvern which was still alive; however, it would not live for much longer.

So, Lucas thought, why not get the free rewards from killing a rank 4 spirit beast?

"I will put you out of your misery now."

Soon, Lucas walked to the shadow wyvern and looked at the helplessly lying shadow wyvern on the ground, Lucas said those words in an emotionless tone before holding his short sword to kill it.

'Growl'

However, when it heard Lucas's words, the shadow wyvern growled at Lucas with a serious look in its eyes.

'Huh?'

Lucas retracted his short sword as he asked, "You don't want me to put you out of your misery?"

In his previous life, Lucas had never seen such a look in his target's eyes when they were about to get killed.

They would either give up or beg him to let them live; however, the shadow wyvern looked at Lucas as though it didn't want Lucas to put it out of its misery.

Just as he was feeling interested with the Shadow wyvern's attitude even in its last moment, Lucas received a system notification.

'Hm...if I sell its carcass, I can get around 5000 to 10000 gold coins and if I auction it off, it would go even higher.'

As for the shadow wyvern, it was unable to find out Lucas' motive; however, it consumed the rank 3 beast core and started absorbing the energy from it.

'As long as I recover my strength, I will go back to the Viscount grounds.'

This was the only thought in its head and as for Lucas, surprisingly, it didn't show any hostility towards him.

'At least the hostility in its eyes has decreased.'

Even though he decided to let the shadow wyvern live, he was keeping an eye on it and if it continued to look at him with hostile eyes, Lucas didn't mind killing it.

'He is a general knight; however, now, he is lying in his own pool of blood.'

After taking the space ring from Sawyer's finger, Lucas looked at his headless body and shook his head.

No matter how powerful you are in this world, no one knows when you will die.

Actually, Sawyer was on his mission and noticed a famous lightning squad adventurer team. Even though he knew that they didn't see him at first, he just wanted to reason to kill them as he got addicted to killing and that's the reason he was stationed in the wilderness by the weapons pavilion's head.

However, that addiction to killing cost his life today.

'Even though I don't know what mission you are doing in this wilderness, if you focused on that mission, you would have still been alive'

Lucas muttered to himself as he once again checked the system notifications he got from killing Sawyer.

Finally, Lucas saw an old wooden box floating in the mid-air in a corner of the space ring.

With a thought, Lucas summoned the wooden box out of the space ring and without wasting any time, he opened it since it was not locked.

Inside the box, there was a thick book and a rolled-up beast skin.

Looking at the old book's title, Lucas was pleasantly surprised because he understood the use of that book without opening it.
