Lucas read the words on the book inside the box and opened it to see the instructions of Weapon refining starting from the basics to refining a rank 4 weapon.

'Even though my head is spinning looking at all the figures and instructions for weapon refining, I think Buzz could comprehend it without a problem with his duke level weapon refining talent.'

With that thought in his mind, Lucas silently stored the book in his inventory before checking the other item in the old wooden box.

'A beast skin parchment?'

Lucas opened it and silently read what's written on it.

'Sawyer, in one month, the headquarters is planning to open an evil portal in the Silverstone town. During this month, your only task is to kill as many adventurer teams as possible. We will act as 'Hero' and take full control of the town.'

At the bottom of the parchment, there was a name that made Lucas reveal an evil smile.

'Looks like the weapons pavilion's destruction of the only dwarf town in this firmament was a huge success, now they were planning to apply the same formula for other towns.'

The beast parchment was from none other than the weapons pavilion head Finn. However, Lucas knew he was just a small pawn following the orders of the bigger pawn from the Weapon pavilion headquarters of the royal city.

"I wonder how many days have passed since Finn wrote this parchment to Sawyer. Maybe, a couple of days?"

Lucas didn't have any method to know exactly when they were planning to open the evil beast portal; however, Lucas was sure that the words written on the parchment were not older than five days.

'Which gives me twenty-five days of time. In these 25 days, I have to become as strong as possible.'

Lucas silently swore to himself as he thought about the rewards he would be getting from killing the evil beasts.

Here, he was not talking about the rewards he would be gaining from the system; instead, it was the rewards from the guardian family of the Barren firmament.

In a firmament, the guardian family is the pinnacle of existence and it would reward everyone that contributes to the development of the firmament or save the firmament from the evil spirit beasts.

So, as long as Lucas participates and kills some good number of evil spirit beasts, then he would get good rewards from that family.

'Slash'

'Thanks for the hands-up on this information.'

Slashing the beast parchment into tiny pieces, Lucas thanked the headless body of Sawyer; however, he didn't have any plans of informing others about it because it would give him unnecessary attention.

Also, he still didn't know which family was in cahoots with the weapons pavilion.

'As for Adventurer's guild, let it be. Since they act all high and mighty, let's see what they will do when an evil portal is opened in the town.'

Lucas was not a saint to begin with and didn't bother to inform about the evil portal and weapons pavilion's scheme to overthrow the adventurer's guild.

'There are still two hours left but the shadow wyvern is not healing faster.'

Soon, Lucas sat some distance away from the rank 4 shadow wyvern and observed the injuries on its bodies which were still fresh. So, he guessed it would take time before it could even have the strength to move.

Lucas didn't want to leave it alone because, in this wilderness, he was sure it would die without a doubt. Also, it was the first living being he had truly spared from killing and didn't want it to die for some random spirit beast.

So, he decided to guard it until it could even protect itself from the predators.

'Looks like I will be giving up the first mission from the weekly mission series.'

Lucas shook his head; however, he was not worried because he got more rewards compared to what he would have gained if he had only focused on that mission.

'Hiss'

Just as he was consoling about the mission, Lucas' ear perked a little as he heard a hissing sound from the distance.

'A snake spirit beast?'

Following the direction of the sound, Lucas noticed more than a dozen one-meter black-coloured serpents slowly moving towards the Shadow wyvern.

'Swoosh'

'Puchi'

'Puchi'

Lucas didn't even move from his place as he threw hidden needles that pinned the one-meter snakes to the ground.

'Ding,

The host killed 15 rank 1 thistle night serpents.

'Thistle night serpents?'

Hearing the system notification, Lucas tried to get more information on the 'Thistle night serpents'.

'Looks like the blood of the rank 4 spirit beast is very attractive to them.'

This was the only possible reason for the appearance of the night serpents to come out in a day.

Usually, they would only come out at night and perfectly blend with the darkness while hunting their prey; however, a single drop of rank 4 spirit beast might change their future. So, they came out of their nests, only to be killed by Lucas.

'Since the thistle night serpents smelled the blood of the Shadow wyvern, then, other spirit beasts must have sensed it, right?'

As soon as he thought about it, Lucas was not worried; instead, he was excited because he could complete the mission of killing rank 1 spirit beasts within two hours as long as they came for the rank 4 spirit beasts.

Also, currently, they are in the baron grounds. So, it was mostly filled with rank 1 spirit beasts followed by rank 2 spirit beasts and only a few rank 3 spirit beasts.

'Even if a rank 3 spirit beast comes, I can take care of it with my Perfect stage short sword mastery along with the rank 3 short swords.'

Lucas was not being over-confident here and he has the ability to kill any average rank 3 spirit beast.

'I better find a suitable place to hide.'

Soon, Lucas threw all the snake corpses into the space ring as he used the shadow wyvern's wings as his cover and waited for the spirit beasts to come.

'Growl'

He didn't waste much time before he heard a growl and saw forest mongrels slowly move towards the Shadow wyvern.

Even though the Shadow wyvern looked like it was bled to death, they sensed a powerful might coming from its body.

However, looking at the cuts on the shadow wyvern's body, they were unable to resist the temptation as they moved towards the shadow wyvern.

'It's time to clean the ground.'

Lucas silently observed the number of forest mongrels and once they reached more than 30 or so, he rushed out of the wing-like a shadow, killing all the rank 1 and rank 2 forest mongrels with a simple slash from his rank 3 short swords.

'Ding,

The host killed…

'Ding,

The….

.

.

.

The system notifications continued to ring in his head as he killed the rank 1 and rank 2 spirit beasts before throwing their bodies into the space ring.

In the end, he would go back to his same hiding place under the shadow wyvern's wing as he repeated the same process again and again.

'At this pace, I will complete the mission after a dozen times of repeating the same process.'

Lucas silently muttered to himself and became a little excited; however, he didn't let his guard down because a rank 3 spirit beast might appear at any time.

Some random place in the Baron grounds,

'Ding,

Congratulations to the hostess for successfully forming a contract with a rare spirit beast 'Forest fairy'.

'Ding,

Even though it is just a rank 1 spirit beast, it has the potential to become a Duke spirit beast without a problem. Please take good care of it and it would take good care of the hostess and her spirit beasts.

Two system notifications rang in Beck's head as she looked at the small green-coloured fairy that was flying in front of her, with a shocked look on her face.

'You accepted me as your master because I saved you from the four-eyed wild cat?'

Suppressing her shock, Beck asked the forest fairy with a curious look on her face.

The thing is, Beck didn't even think of forming a contract with the forest fairy and only saved her because she felt pity for her.

However, after seeing the potential of the forest fairy, Beck was excited to gain a spirit beast that could become duke-level without a problem.

'No'

To Beck's surprise, the forest fairy spoke in a cute voice as she replied, 'Because I like you.'

"You are so cute."

Hearing the reply from the forest fairy, Beck felt happy as she lightly hugged the forest fairy.

"Since I finished all my beast slots, it's time to hunt now."

Beck played with the forest fairy as they both chuckled for a while before she stood up as she got the reminder from the system about the mission she got from Lucas.

Until now, Beck had focused only on taming the powerful spirit beasts to fill the beast slots. Since the mission was completed a little early because of the forest fairy, she decided to start the hunt

"Everyone, come out and meet our new friend."

Before starting her hunt, Beck summoned four spirit beasts and all of them except for the wings white lion, looked at the forest fairy with curious looks.
