Chapter 86: System Fragment

'Looks like nobody is around. Time to open the gift boxes.'

After saving the three adventurer's squads during that day, Lucas found a desolate place in the Baron grounds of the myriad primordial forest to open the three gift boxes he got from the mission.

'System, open the gift box.'

Without wasting any time, Lucas ordered the system to open the gift boxes.

'Ding,

Opening the first gift box. The host received an intermediate spell scroll.

'What? An intermediate spell scroll in the first gift box itself?'

Lucas was surprised to get such a good item and without wasting any time, he crushed the spell scroll.

Unlike others, Lucas didn't have to worry about the type of the spell because of the system as he could learn any basic and intermediate spell within no time.

Soon, Lucas felt the pain in his head because of the infusion of knowledge regarding the spell.

The host learned a new intermediate spell 'Invisiblilty'. Please check more information about the spell in the User interface.

Even though it was painful, Lucas endured it without a problem and checked the information on the spell.

Spell name:- Invisibility (level 1).

Grade:- Intermediate.

Effect:- The magic-user will turn invisible from everyone's sight for five minutes.

Note:- 1) During the five minutes, the magic-user must not move from his place; otherwise, the effect will lose.

2) Even if he moves after using the spell, as long as he stands still for five seconds, he will turn invisible.

3) Overall, the effect of the spells only lasts for five minutes after he cast the spell for the first time.

Cost:- 100 units of magic power.

Chanting time:- Two minutes.

'Invisibility is an intermediate spell?'

Lucas frowned; however, after checking out the second note, Lucas muttered, 'Maybe because of this thing, it was considered as an intermediate spell.'

Even though he was disappointed with the spell, Lucas didn't think much about it because he focused on becoming a Lesser mage compared to the intermediate spells.

'As long as I become the lesser mage, I can unseal the advanced spell.'

With that thought in his mind, Lucas opened the second gift box.

Opening the second gift box. The host received an unknown system fragment.

'Huh?'

Lucas was puzzled with the item he got from the second gift box as he summoned it from the inventory.

It looked like a small piece of metal which made Lucas assume it was either a broken ring or pendant.

Host, as its name suggests, is a system fragment. Collect its remaining fragments to gain a new system.

'Huh? So, there are other systems like you in this world.'

Lucas silently thought about it and felt it was quite possibly even before the system could confirm.

Yes, host. There are many other systems whose goal is to make their host a top-level existence. So, if you have any other system hosts, you need to kill him or her at any cost because the other hosts will do the same.

'Then, what about this system fragment?'

Lucas was a little surprised; however, after thinking about his reincarnation and getting a system into his head, he felt there were so many things in this universe for him to learn.

So, he asked about the system fragment.

When a system host was killed by other system hosts, the system of the dead host will be absorbed by the system of the host who killed him.

'Ding,

However, if a system host was killed by a non-system host, the system will be destroyed into three or four fragments which disappear into the four corners of the firmament.

'Oh. Not only do I have to be careful with these guilds, but the other system hosts like me.'

Lucas became angry when he understood some new things about the system as he seriously said those words.

Please don't be angry, host...no...master. I don't know who created me but I only know one thing and it was to make you, my host as powerful as possible.

If you are weak, you will be killed and I will be either absorbed into the other system or become fragments.

Sensing the anger inside Lucas, the system became anxious as it tried its best to make Lucas understand it from its perspective.

'Sigh'

He changed after coming to this world as he started understanding things from others perspectives. So, after hearing the anxious system notifications in his head, Lucas could not help but sigh.

Because it was just doing what it was supposed to do.

'So be it. If other system hosts want to kill me, then they should prepare to get killed. I will become powerful to save Evan, not to kill other system hosts.'

Lucas, who didn't have any purpose in his previous life, had an important purpose in this life and it was to save Evan. So, he didn't go on a mindless hunt for other system hosts; instead, focused on becoming powerful to save his little brother.

'Ding,

Master, thanks for understanding. I am eternally grateful to you.

The system noticed that Lucas understood it and could not help but thank Lucas. If the system had a corporeal form, then it would have happy tears in its eyes.

'Let's help each other. You help me become powerful to save my little brother and I will help you from other systems.'

Lucas nodded his head as he continued, 'Also, there is no need for you to call me master. Just call me like how you used to call me.'

'Ding,

Yes, host.

The system felt very happy today and wanted to do something for Lucas; however, it was restricted from helping the host.

'By the way, didn't you say that you will inform me about your origins after saving my brother? If you didn't know about it now, how can you know about it after I finish the mission?'

Soon, Lucas asked another question to the system.

'Ding,

The system missions are generated randomly from the host's surroundings and the rewards too. As long as the host finishes the mission, the system can fulfil the reward.

'Sigh'

Lucas sighed as he was unable to get a conclusion to his answer; however he was sure about one thing and it was, he would be facing the creator of these systems one day.

'Anyway, thinking about all these things will only give me a headache. I will just focus on becoming powerful now.'

Soon, Lucas asked the system, 'Open the third gift box.'

'Ding,

Opening the third gift box. The host received a weapon blueprint.

'Weapon blueprint?'

Lucas was excited as he hurriedly summoned the weapon blueprint from the system inventory to check the information on it.

'Ding,

Item Name:- Weapon blueprint.

Item Type:- Special

Use:- Gives the knowledge of refining rank 1 to rank 3 'Twilight sword'.

Prerequisite:- Needs to have a Weapons refining talent.

Note:- Higher the talent one has, the more knowledge they will gain.
