This meant that they were in a hugely disadvantageous situation. If they were to engage the enemy in the house, there was a high probability that they would lose the fight. Even if they were willing to risk their lives to save Kang-ge, it didn’t mean that they should charge mindlessly to their death.

They only got one try, and they had to make it work somehow.

Less than ten minutes after the call was made, two men walked out of the opposite house. They headed over to the courtyard in order to get the cars.

Sweat dripped down Qi Lin’s forehead as he remarked, “It seems like they have quite a few people with them.”

“We would have made a wasted trip here to Jiangzhou if we fail to get Kang-ge back, and we might even lose Old Cat on top of that,” Qin Yu uttered with gritted teeth. “There’s no place for us to retreat anymore. We need to stake our all on this.”

Qi Lin looked at Qin Yu before nodding in determination, “Either the three of us settle everything and return victoriously together, or else we shall die on this land together. Anyone who dares run away isn’t a man!”

“Let’s do it then,” Qin Yu nodded as he took out his pistol.

On the opposite end of the street.

Li Tong walked out of the house as he asked Dong Cheng with a frown, “Are you sure the information is reliable?”

“The person who called is the insider who provided information to Brother Xiao for the operation. He should be trustworthy,” Dong Cheng replied. “If they knew that we’re the ones who got Kang, they would surely exact vengeance against us at all cost.”

“That bunch of people is coming here with the intent of pitting their lives against us. We have already gotten what we need, so there’s no need for us to foolishly go head-on against them,” Li Tong analyzed contemplatively. “Call the security troopers of the military over. We’ll have all of them captured once they are here.”

“Sounds like a good plan,” Dong Cheng laughed as he took out his phone.

Two cars were stopped by the roadside. Li Tong and Dong Cheng had six people around them, and one of them had jogged ahead to open the door for them.

Meanwhile, in the opposite residence, after taking a look at the group, Qin Yu turned to Qi Lin and said, “That young man standing in the middle and the middle-aged man who is holding his phone up at the moment are the leaders of the group.”

“Yes, I can tell,” Qi Lin replied with a nod. “I don’t see Kang-ge anywhere.”

Shortly after those words were spoken, another two more men came out from the house with a massive black bag in their hands. They walked over to the trunk of the car and stuffed the bag in there.

“Is Kang-ge inside the bag?” Qin Yu muttered contemplatively before beckoning Qi Lin over. “Come, get on the motorcycle.”

Qi Lin leaped onto the back seat of the motorcycle. He allowed his right hand, which was holding onto a gun, to hang naturally by his side and he urged, “Let’s go.”

Weng!

The vibrations of the engine from the motorcycle echoed loudly in the air before the vehicle dashed out of the residence like a released arrow, charging right in the direction of the two cars.

Li Tong’s group was still in the midst of getting into the cars when they heard the sound of the motorcycle. They immediately turned their heads over to take a look.

However, the motorcycle was simply too swift, and the person firing the gun moved faster than any of them could react.

Bang bang!

Qi Lin unhesitatingly shot bullets toward the group.

“Enemy!” Dong Cheng exclaimed as he reached out to grab Li Tong, hoping to protect the latter.

Peng!

A dull thud sounded as the motorcycle crashed right into Li Tong’s waist, and the latter was sent flying forward before knocking heavily onto the doors of the car.

Qin Yu braked the motorcycle and placed his feet on the ground. With a swift stretch of his right hand, he grabbed Li Tong’s collar and pulled him over.

At the same time, Qi Lin stepped down from the motorcycle as well. With his gun pointed at Dong Cheng, he roared,” Don’t move! Back away!”

Everything had happened so suddenly that no one was able to react at all. They stared at Qin Yu and Qi Lin with flabbergasted looks on their faces. The only thing they could do in the situation was to instinctively reach out for the weapons on their waists.

Li Tong had suffered quite some damage from being knocked down by the motorcycle. A sharp pain struck his waist, and he leaned against the car door with cold sweat trickling down his forehead.

Qin Yu got off the motorcycle and pulled Li Tong in front of him. At the same time, he pulled out a green wire from his pocket and roared, “I have a dynamite with me. If any of you dares to make a move, I’ll kill him right away!”

Upon seeing the green wire, the eight people gathered around immediately backed away fearfully, causing them to disperse around the area.

Li Tong used his right hand to support his waist as he spoke, “You are from the Yu Family? Aren’t there too little of you?”

“We aren’t related to the Yu Family,” Qin Yu replied coldly. “But you kidnapped Kang-ge, and we ended up taking the blame for your actions. We’re taking you with us to prove our innocence.”

“You’re here for Kang?”

“That’s right,” Qin Yu said. “Hand Kang-ge over to us, and you might just be able to live to the next dawn.”

Qi Lin pressed his gun tightly against Dong Cheng’s forehead as he howled at the crowd, “You don’t understand human speech? Back away and raise your hands!”

“Hahaha!” Li Tong suddenly started laughing hysterically while holding onto his waist. He looked at Qin Yu with a playful look in his eyes as he said, “Bro, it looks like you can’t be saved anymore.”

Qin Yu was stunned to hear those words.

“You’re too late. Kang is already dead,” Li Tong said with feigned composure.

“Bullshit!” Gedeng, Qin Yu’s heart skipped a beat. His face paled rapidly as he roared, “Don’t play tricks with me. If anything were to happen to us, I’ll make sure to drag the two of you down with me at the very least!”

“Looks like you don’t believe me.” Li Tong shook his head. He glanced at Qi Lin and said, “He’s in the trunk of the car.”

Those words made the ominous feeling in Qin Yu’s heart intensify. He hesitated for a moment before carefully dragging Li Tong together with him to the back of the trunk. With a single hand, he opened the trunk.

There was a black bag in there that emanated the overpowering stench of blood. Qin Yu gulped down a mouthful of saliva as he opened the bag.

The mutilated Kang-ge was lying inside there. There were two holes in his throat, and blood was still flowing out from these holes.

Qi Lin was still holding Dong Cheng hostage, so he couldn’t afford to allow his eyes to wander elsewhere. Noticing that Qin Yu wasn’t saying a word at all, he asked anxiously, “How is it?”

“He’s gone,” Qin Yu replied lividly.

“Fuck!” It was as if something exploded in Qi Lin at the moment. All of the rage and frustration that he had been suppressing inside of him suddenly gushed into his head.

Over at the car trunk, Li Tong raised his hand and advised with a smile, “Bro, you can see that the person you are here to save is gone. It’ll be hard for the two of you to prove your innocence. Why don’t you put down your gun, and we can sit down and discuss a plan together?”

Peng!

Qin Yu grabbed Li Tong’s hair with his right hand and violently smashed it against the car, roaring, “You son of a bitch, my brother has been taken away by them!”

“Is the life of your brother more important for your own?” Li Tong tilted his head over to look at Qin Yu. “You’re outnumbered here. If things go down, it won’t end well for you too.”

Qin Yu pondered for a moment before looking at Li Tong with a sharp look in his eyes. “Since Kang-ge is gone, I’m afraid that I can only bring you with us to prove our innocence.”

“Hahaha!” Dong Cheng, who hadn’t spoken a word all this while, glanced over with a wintry look on his face. “Do you think that’s possible?”

“I have a stick of dynamite with me, anything is possible with that,” Qin Yu replied as he tugged at the green wire leading to his pocket. He turned to the eight subordinates scattered around the area and abruptly raised his voice, “Don’t move unless you want to have a taste of my dynamite!”

The subordinates immediately turned to their eyes to Dong Cheng to seek his directive.

“You are going to scare me to death,” Dong Cheng scoffed. He raised his hand, pointed his finger at Qin Yu, and spoke word by word emphatically, “I have played on the streets of the Development District for many years now, and there has never been a fixer who can hold me down. Pull the wire, let’s see who dies first!”

Hearing those words, Qin Yu’s left hand subconsciously trembled a little.

On their trip to Jiangzhou, the only supplies they had were the ones they had procured from the military. Where were they supposed to obtain rare and strictly regulated weapons such as grenades and dynamites?

The green wire was something that they had taken from the motorcycle, and it was simply stitched onto Qin Yu’s pants. In truth, he had nothing at all. It was a scare tactic to intimidate the enemy.

However, it seemed like there were quite a few tenacious bastards in Jiangzhou’s Li Family. They weren’t intimidated by his scare tactic at all.

This placed them in a bad position.
