Special District 9

Chapter 64: Twin Stars of Jiangzhou 2

The middle-aged man eyed Qin Yu coldly for a moment before taking out his phone.

Around four o’clock in the morning.

Two hybrid cars stopped at the entrance of Platinum Castle. Wearing a woolen windbreaker, Coco got off the car and walked gracefully through the entrance. She was holding a phone in her hand as she said anxiously, “Yes, Old Bai called me. He said that he managed to find Kang-ge whereabouts. Yes, I have arrived. I’ll be meeting him soon. Alright, we’ll talk later.”

The phone was hung up at that point.

Coco was just about to head up the stairs with her people when Qin Yu suddenly came out from an inner door with the checkered shirt middle-aged man in his hand. He swiftly grabbed Coco’s neck with his arm and said, “Hey gorgeous, we meet again.”

Coco stared at Qin Yu in astonishment.

“I was the one who had him make the call,” Qin Yu pointed at the checkered shirt middle-aged man as he said. “Don’t blame me, I threatened him with Kang-ge’s life.”

Coco didn’t panic in the face of this situation. Instead, she asked with a calm voice, “What do you want?”

“I don’t feel safe talking on your territory. Shall we find another place to get to know one another better?” Qin Yu asked with a smile.

Coco contemplated for a moment before replying, “What if I refuse?”

“For Kang-ge’s sake, you might want to rethink that decision.”

“If Kang-ge is gone, your friend will be next.”

“I still have other chips in my hand,” Qin Yu said as he held Coco’s neck firmly. He leaned in closer and whispered into her ears, “A lad from Jiangzhou’s Li Family is in my hands.”

Coco was stunned.

“I used your name to get him,” Qin Yu chuckled to himself. “Interested to meet him?”

“I’m only hearing empty words from you. I can’t trust you without any evidence.”

Qin Yu raised his arm and waved at a car visible through the window.

On the car, Qi Lin lowered the car window and held Li Tong’s head up.

“Do you believe me now?” Qin Yu asked.

Coco looked over, and when she saw Li Tong on the car, astonishment flickered across her face for a brief instant before vanishing altogether. She nodded and said, “Very well. This is enough for me to go on a trip together with me.”

“Let’s go.”

“Don’t take advantage of me. Let me down,” Coco pointed to Qin Yu’s arm and said.

“That won’t do. I still need you for protection,” Qin Yu said as he pressed his gun against Coco’s waist.

Coco took in a deep breath before turning to a subordinate beside her and instructed, “Bring that fellow I captured over and wait for my call.”

“Boss, you can’t go with him…!” the driver advised anxiously.

But Coco waved her hand calmly and said, “It’s fine. Even if our talk falls through, the two of them wouldn’t stoop down to beating up a little girl like me.”

Seeing this, Qin Yu scoffed in disdain, “Don’t call yourself a little girl. I already saw you signaling him with your eyes.”

“Let’s go!” Coco chuckled softly to herself.

Half an hour later.

In an unnamed barren place in Jiangzhou, a car came to a halt. Coco got down the car with Qin Yu before remarking, “You’re sharper than you look. I didn’t expect you to call Old Bai to lure me out.”

“We’re not familiar with how it is in Jiangzhou,” Qin Yu replied as he rubbed his palms together. “That’s why we ended up getting framed right after arriving here. Shows how important it is to be careful.”

Coco didn’t respond.

Qin Yu scanned the surroundings before he walked over to the trunk of the car and lifted the cover.

An overpowering stench of blood drifted out. Coco frowned a little.

Qin Yu opened the black bag and said with a lowered head, “We tried out best, but we couldn’t save him.”

Coco looked at Kang-ge’s corpse, and her eyes turned wintry cold.

Qin Yu saw the chilling hostility in Coco’s eyes and said, “See. I was afraid that you would think too much into it if I called you directly to meet you. His death has nothing to do with us.”

“Explain yourself, I’m listening.” Coco wasn’t afraid of Kang-ge’s corpse. Instead, she walked over to the trunk and covered his face with the bag.

Qin Yu took a moment to construct his words before explaining everything in detail to Coco.

After hearing the entire story, Coco widened her eyes in astonishment. “Kang-ge was kidnapped by Li Tong?”

“That’s right. Why would I bring him with me otherwise?” Qin Yu replied. “I didn’t manage to save Kang-ge, but Li Tong’s presence should be enough to prove that this has nothing to do with me.”

Coco quietly glanced at Li Tong, who was lying in the car with his mouth gagged, before pacing around the area for a moment. Then, she said, “I’ll release your friend. Let’s end this here.”

“That won’t do,” Qin Yu replied wit ha shake of his head. “I came here to re-establish the medicine route.”

“I have never approved of Kang-ge rebuilding the distribution channel in Songjiang,” Coco rejected coldly. “It’s too chaotic over there. There are too many people who wield power on the streets there. I know that the Yuan Family or something has been investigating Ah Long’s supply route ever since he was caught. I don’t want to take this risk at this juncture. Besides, now that Kang-ge is gone, there’s no one else to manage Songjiang’s distribution channel anymore.”

Qin Yu frowned. He looked at Coco for a moment before saying, “The three of us won’t be able to return to Songjiang if we can’t get the medicine route.”

“That’s none of my business,” Coco replied sharply. “Give Li Tong to me, and I’ll release your friend. Let’s wrap this matter up with this.”

It was at this moment that Qin Yu heaved a deep sigh before pointing his finger at Coco. “Do you still not get what I’m trying to say?”

“What?”

“If you give up on Songjiang’s business, Li Tong won’t be leaving with you today.”

“You are going to abandon your friend?” Coco sneered.

“Like I told you, if we can’t re-establish the supply route, the three of us won’t be able to return to Songjiang,” Qin Yu replied with an imposing air. “If that’s how you want to settle things, I’ll be taking Li Tong away with me right away. He has told me on the car earlier that he’s willing to do business with me if you aren’t interested in it.”

Coco was stunned to hear those words.

“Do you think I’m really ignorant as to why Kang-ge was killed?” Qin Yu stared at Coco intently as he scoffed. “The Li Family is also interested in dabbling into pharmaceuticals, and there was a conflict of interest between the two of you. Is that right?”

Coco remained silent.

“If you aren’t going to do Songjiang’s market, it’ll be snatched away by the Li Family,” Qin Yu emphasized. “Let’s not waste each other time. I’ll just ask you one question. Are you going to work with us or not? If not, I’ll be taking Li Tong away with me right away!”

“Does your friend’s life not matter to you at all?”

“It’s better for one person to be killed than for all three of us to die,” Qin Yu replied coldly.

Coco pondered for a moment before she asked once more, “Aren’t you worried that I might renege on my words after Li Tong falls into my hands?”

“Do you think I’m a fool? Why would if hand Li Tong over to you before your goods reach Songjiang?”

Coco suddenly laughed heartily before remarking, “You’re much shrewder than Ah Long!”

“I’m just in a more desperate position than he is,” Qin Yu replied.

“Fine, you have convinced me,” Coco said. She raised her finger and pointed it at Qin Yu, saying, “However, the reason why I agreed to work with you is not out of fear of the Li Family dominating our market.”

Qin Yu tilted his head in confusion.

“I value the ability that the two of you have to snatch Li Tong over,” Coco said smilingly. “It’s important to look at who your partners are before deciding whether to work together.”

“Then you should be glad to know that you won’t be disappointed.” It was only at this moment that Qin Yu realized that Coco had come with the intention to accept the partnership. It was just that she wanted to test him out so as to see if he had the ability to get the job done well.

The two of them looked at one another for a moment before Coco suddenly burst into laughter, “The words you said earlier are a little hurtful.”

“… Huh?” Qin Yu was confused by those abrupt words.

“Here!” Coco took out her phone from her pocket and passed it over to Qin Yu.

Qin Yu was stunned for a moment before he looked at the phone and saw that it was in the midst of a call.

“It’s connected. Say something,” Coco said.

With a deep furrow on his forehead, Qin Yu picked up the phone and said, “Hello?”

“Hello your mother’s balls! Screw you, Qin Yu! I have really misjudged you… You call me brother day in and day out, but you sold me to that woman as soon as the opportunity arises… What do you mean by it’s better for one person to be killed than for all three to die? Why don’t you go to hell?” Words flew out from Old Cat’s mouth like a machine gun. “They always say that one must choose their friends wisely. I finally get a taste of what that means!”

Qin Yu was utterly speechless. Holding onto the phone, he walked over to the side and said, “Are you an idiot? We’re negotiating with one another! I can’t let her grasp onto any weakness! What the heck are you complaining about…”

“I’m upset. I won’t be coaxed with just words… Go away. Don’t talk to me anymore.” Old Cat hung up the phone indignantly.

“That damned dimwit!” Qin Yu rolled his eyes as he cursed.

On the other hand, Coco opened the car door and peeked inside. “Yo, Young Master Li. You’re awake?”
