Inside the light music bar.

After Qin Yu introduced Old Ma and the others to Lin Nianlei, they settled down around a table.

“Will this work?” Old Ma turned to Qin Yu and asked softly.

“Not sure. We’ll be asking my friend’s older brother for help once he’s done with his work on top,” Qin Yu leaned over and replied.

“Help me thank your friend on my behalf,” Old Ma said. He had gone through quite a lot over the last two days, so he looked exceptionally frail at the moment.

By the side, Lin Nianlei took a look at Old Ma and the others before she turned to Qin Yu and said, “Later on, when my older brother comes down, don’t bother saying anything much. Just say that you’re my colleague, and we’re looking for Wen Tao over a scoop.”

“Is it inconvenient otherwise?” Qin Yu asked.

Lin Nianlei put on a wry smile as she replied, “My older brother doesn’t want to get involved in things related to the street.”

“Ah, I understand,” Qin Yu nodded knowingly.

Old Cat looked at Old Ma silently for a long while before he finally spoke up, “… As long as your older brother’s wits are still intact, there’s no way he would believe Uncle Ma and the others are your colleagues.”

Receiving Old Cat’s point, Old Ma stood up and said, “You all can continue on. We’ll wait at another table.”

“You should head over and order some cups of lemonade for Uncle Ma and the other brothers. This drink is good for relieving one’s bladder,” Old Cat turned to Guan Qi and said.

“…” Guan Qi rolled his eyes as he walked over to Old Ma’s table too.

Shortly after the group had finished discussing their plans, Lin Nianlei’s phone rang.

“Hello, Niannian? Ah no, brother, you’re done with your work? Nice! Come down then. I’m in the light music bar. Yeap. See you.”

Around ten minutes later, a good-looking young man, dressed in a woolen overcoat, entered the light music bar together with a companion.

“Over here, brother!” Lin Nianlei raised her hand up and called out.

“Oh, you have some friends here?” the young man remarked as he walked over with a smile.

Meanwhile, his companion took a seat on the sofa by the entrance with his body upright. From time to time, he would scan the surroundings carefully.

Lin Nianlei stood up from the chair and pulled the young man’s arm, saying, “This is my older brother, Lin Xiao. Brother, these two are friends from my workplace, Qin Yu and Old Cat.”

“Pleased to meet you,“ Lin Xiao said as he offered his hand forward.

“Yes, it’s a pleasure to meet you too,” Qin Yu stood up and shook Lin Xiao’s hand,

Old Cat also stood up and bootlicked very directly, “Your family really has excellent genes. Every single one of you look no different from celebrities.”

“Young lad, you sure know how to speak!” Lin Nianlei chuckled as she pulled her older brother onto the seat beside her. “Actually, brother, I have a request for you.”

“What is it?”

“You see, we’re currently on a case, and we need to find one of the witnesses, but we aren’t able to get his whereabouts,” Lin Nianlei lied without the slightest hint of awkwardness at all. “Based on what I have gathered so far, it seems like the witness is a card dealer working at Duke Carnival. Lin Xiao looked at Lin Nianlei smilingly as he asked, “What kind of news are you working on that needs you to look into a card dealer?”

“It’s not like you have studied about the media before, so you wouldn’t know even if I told you,” Lin Nianlei replied coyly. “There are outsiders around, so sell me a face and help me with this, alright? Please?”

“I have already told you a million times that once you head to Songjiang, you…”

“Aiyo, why is it so hard to get your help?” Lin Nianlei interjected with a pout. “If you don’t help me, we’ll be leaving right now. Let’s not contact one another anymore!”

“Fine fine, I’ll help you,’ Lin Xiao remarked helplessly as he took out a peculiar army-green phone that was half screen and half buttons. “I’ll help you ask around, alright? What’s the name of the person you are looking for?”

“Wen Tao,” Lin Nianlei replied cheerfully.

Lin Xiao scrolled through his list of contacts, and just as he was about to dial a number, he suddenly saw more than a dozen people walking through the entrance of the light music bar.

Beneath the dim light, Xing Zihao scanned the surroundings before asking, “Point out for me which are ones the ones we need to deal with.”

On the corner seat from the entrance, Old Ma and the others had noticed Yong Dong from the moment they stepped into the bar. They subconsciously stood up as they mumbled with ghastly pale faces, “Why is Yong Dong here?”

Yong Dong walked over to Xing Zihao’s side and said, “On the left side, those two young men, and all of those sitting on the table on the right.”

Xing Zihao habitually snorted before walking right up to where Qin Yu was and bellowed, “You sure are gutsy to dare to stir shit here at Fengbei, huh?”

Sensing the hostility coming from the other party, Qin Yu stood up and asked, “Who are you?”

“Let’s change a place, and I’ll tell you who I am,” Xing Zihao said with a grand wave of his hand. “Take them all away!”

The dozen or so men who had entered the bar with Xing Zihao immediately stepped forth to grab Qin Yu and the others.

Old Cat had never thought that their enemies would chase them over here to Fengbei. After a moment of astonishment, he immediately hurled a fist over as he bellowed, “What are you trying to pull over here? I’m a police officer from Songjiang!”

“A mere police officer from Songjiang, and you think that you are something at Fengbei?” Xing Zihao sneered. “You dipshits must have never been to any big cities before! Hurry up and take them away!”

Old Ma and the others had to go through the customs between Songjiang and Fengbei, so there was no way they could have brought weapons. On the other hand, the enemies clearly were prepared and well-equipped. Thus, they were in a bad position.

Four of them stepped forward to surround Qin Yu and Old Cat, and they discreetly revealed their guns to threaten them from making any abrupt moves.

“Don’t move, or else I’ll shoot you!”

“Lower your head. I’m fucking telling you to lower your head!”

“…!”

Several furious shouts echoed throughout the light music bar. Old Ma took a step back, and the two brothers beside him unhesitatingly grabbed the alcohol bottles from the table and charged forward.

Xing Zihao leisurely took out a box of cigarettes as he shouted, “Fugitives like you dare to fight back, huh? Beat them to death if they retaliate! I’ll rid the world of vermins like you!”

The shock and confusion in Lin Xiao’s eyes gradually turned into fury. He put his phone back into his pocket as he turned to Lin Nianlei and reprimanded harshly, “You are playing with fire over here!”

“What are you doing? Does the law mean nothing to you?!” Lin Nianlei roared as she pushed the ruffian who was grabbing onto Qin Yu. “Let go of my friend!”

Seeing this, Lin Xiao grabbed Lin Nianlei’s left arm as he roared, “Come home with me!”

“They are kidnapping my friends!” Lin Nianlei exclaimed. She turned around and cried, “He saved my life back at Songjiang!

“I’m telling you to come home with me right now!” Lin Xiao repeated his words while seething with fury.

“You bitch, what are you doing?!” The ruffian who was threatening Qin Yu with his gun glared at Lin Nianlei with a vicious look on his face.

Noticing Lin Nianlei, Xing Zihao turned to Yong Dong asked, “What does that woman do?”

“She’s a reporter from Songjiang,” Yong Dong replied. “She was the one whom our boss wanted to…”

But before Yong Dong could finish his words, Xing Zihao had already lifted his leg and kicked Lin Nianlei mercilessly, not caring at all that she was a woman. “You bunch of fuckers. You even called the media to stir shit, huh? Looks like you’re in need of a lesson!”

The abrupt kick sent Lin Nianlei tumbling to the floor.

Lin Xiao was stunned. He quickly reached out to help Lin Nianlei up before charging at Xing Zihao, “You must be sick of living! Who do you think you’re hitting over here?!”
