That shout jolted the ruffians, and a few of the lads who were cornering Old Ma over at the corner table quickly headed over to hold down Lin Xiao.

“You still dare to bloody fight back?” a well-built young man raised his gun and smashed it down toward Lin Xiao’s head.

Lin Xiao agilely sidestepped a single step while tilting his head outward the left. At the same time, he lifted his right arm and grabbed the young man’s wrist. Following that, he raised his right knee and struck the other party’s abdomen.

Amidst the crowd, Lin Xiao’s companion finally reached the vicinity, and he kicked the young man’s face. The latter flew for a good half a meter before fainting on the floor.

Xing Zihao turned around and bellowed, “Are you an idiot? They are from the media! If you don’t take care of them, what if they come back and bite you later on?”

“Trust me on this. Even Boss Yuan hasn’t managed to figure out the young lady’s background yet, so let’s not involve them in this yet. If they try to pull something later on, we can use our connections in the media to settle things,” Yong Dong advised with a grim look on his face. “Our priority at hand is to take Old Ma with us. There’s no need to get in a fight with these insignificant figures. What do you say?”

Hearing those words, Xing Zihao replied impatiently, “Don’t expect me to clean up after you if the media pulls something after this.”

In the light music bar, Old Ma glanced at Qin Yu calmly, and the latter shook his head in response.

Xing Zihao let loose a yawn as he got onto the passenger seat of the van. He lowered his window and ordered the ruffians, “Bring them to the southern suburbs.”

“Yes, sir!” The man standing outside the car nodded before taking his leave.

Xing Zihao turned around to look at the backseat before informing Yong Dong coldly, “This is the first and the last time I’ll clean up your mess. Like I have said, the company has partnered with Yuan Hua to spare itself from the hassle. If you have the capabilities to get things done properly, you bloody well show it. Otherwise, we don’t mind looking for another distributor to work with.”

Those words were extremely jarring, but Yong Dong still replied courteously, “I understand.”

“I’ll hand these people over to you. You can settle the rest by yourself,” Xing Zihao said. Then, he turned to the driver and instructed, “Take me back to my apartment.”

The driver quickly started the engine and left the area.

At the back seat of the van, Qin Yu lowered his head and back as he asked Old Ma, “How did they get onto us?”

“Did I give you permission to talk, huh? Why are you running your mouth?” One of the ruffians seated at the center row of the van took out his gun and smashed it on Old Ma’s head several times.

With reddened eyes, Old Ma spat softly, “We should have just fought back earlier. Some of us might have managed to get away! Why did you stop me earlier?”

Qin Yu licked his dry lips as he replied, “I think that there’s still hope here.”

“Don’t know how to zip your mouth? You still want to talk, eh?” the same ruffian spat as he raised his gun to hit Qin Yu this time around.

All of a sudden, the roar of engines sounded on the road behind them. Two dark green military trucks and four jeeps were cruising through the road hurriedly, quickly catching up with them.

Xing Zihao groggily opened his eyes to look at the scene around him before murmuring, “Why would there be soldiers going around in the middle of the night?”

The dark green vehicle formation soon overtook them before abruptly halting diagonally across the road, sealing off the entire path.

The driver was caught off guard, so he could only hurriedly step on the brake and stop by the roadside.

Along the dimly-lit road, the headlights coming from the military truck was particularly blinding. A soldier in his thirties jumped down from one of the jeeps. He was dressed in combat boots, and there was a fully-automatic rifle in his hands. He raised it to the sky and fired.
