SUPREME VISION SYSTEM

Chapter 64 - WONDERED WHY??

All at that moment, he could think was what did she mean by his eye muscle accepting the lens in without a protest? Did she try them on with other people and it did not work? What was even happening?

He wanted to escape but he knew it was too late and he could not. His heart was beating fast against his chest.

The yellow light from her eyes again scanned his left eye and then she put the lens inside his eyes as the same way before the eye muscle absorbed the lens in and the excruciating pain came alive.

He knew by now that it was only momentary until the lens gets inside totally absorbed by his eye. Right after being absorbed, he felt the exact similar tingling sensation and he knew that the lens was moving inside like the first one.

Her eyes emitted the yellow light for the nth time to examine if both the lenses were placed in the right position.

"Now do not close them. We have another ten minutes to go."

She let out as she checked her phone before putting it back in the seat. He had no idea what was going on but he sure did not feel at ease with two damn objects moving inside his eyes.

" Five minutes more and you will be all set to go."

She said and he waited to try his best to keep his uncomfortable poor eyes open for the next five minutes. It was getting better than before.

He only hoped that if it did not work out with him, there was a way to pull those lenses back from inside his eyes. He hoped she knew that too.

The phone alarm went off and she asked him to close his eyes right away. He obliged without a word. He had no other option anyway.

"Try to calm down, Cole. Accept those lenses as if they were yours. They were there from before and let them sink in."

He had no idea what that was supposed to mean. The lenses were already inside him though. It sank into his eyes without his approval or anything and he did voluntarily accepted to put them on so.

"Open your eyes right now."

As soon as she mouthed those words out, Cole opened his eyes and he could see the surface of the damn moon.

It was rocky, holes, big caters on its surface...what the actual hell??

He turned around, raising up from her lap and he could see her skin cells...they looked like those cells they see inside the microscope.

"What the f.u.c.k am I seeing? Did you put a damn telescope and microscope inside my eyes?"

Cole let out. He was astonished as hell. How much more magnifying was this shit?

"Relax...just relax. It is your first time. The lens is sinking in. Close your eyes again. Give it some time. Give yourself some time. "

She spoke out right away and Cole closed his eyes too. He was taken aback by what he just encountered. He only wanted his normal vision.

"Cole...now take a deep breathe and open your eyes."

Cole committed to what she asked him off and this time when he did, he saw a clear normal view of his surrounding. He was happy. It worked!

Only he could not see the blue lights emitted out from his eyes for a brief second!

"So this is it? I m all set now?"

Cole asked as he saw the woman thrashing all the items that she pulled out of her long coat pocket back inside it.

"Yes..you are all set. You can see now? Don't you?"

She questioned, stopping for a moment with whatever she was doing to look at him for a brief second and then returning back to do her work.

"Don't you need my name and address if you want to come back and meet me? Or what if I need you, what if something happens with the lenses and I need to contact you...what about then? Huh?"

Cole implored for she did not note down his name or anything. He thought that she would at least pen his name down in her report of successful cases.

Or maybe just give him a card from their research institute if he had any problem in the future then he could at least visit there.

"No. You are good to go. You do not need any of those. I like to work with anonymous and being one myself."

She said as she got out of the back seat and got inside the diver's side of the car. She closed the car ceiling while Cole kept seating on the back wondering why?

Why she was not willing to share any of the information? He was curious at that. What if he really needed to contact her in the future?

"Why are you seating there? Get out."

She mouthed turning back to look at him. He did not know what she meant by asking him to get out. But he just plainly obliged what she said and got out of the Mercedes Benz.

"I booked you an Uber. Just tell the driver your home address. It will be here any minute now. "

She let out through the window sliding the glass off. Cole only eyed her with extreme astonishment not knowing what else to do.

"It was nice working with you. Remember not to tell about this to anyone. Promise me."

He was finding everything that she was speaking outright then seemed like this entire thing that she did to him was meant to keep a deep secret. But why?

He wanted to ask although he knew better than to ask her directly because she would of course not blurt out one word to him.

"I promise? But why though? Don't you want your research subject to be known by others?"

He interfered even though he knew what her reply would be like yet he wanted to give it a try and he knew better than to tell his mother about all these. She would just clap two slaps on his cheeks for walking away with a stranger.

Plus he had no one except for Vin to whom he tells everything. He did not know if he should tell him or not this time though. Was this whole matter meant to keep top-secret?

"You do not have to worry about our research subject. It was nice working with you, Cole Sullivan."

Those were her last words as even before he could question her more, she started the engine and was driving off.

Cole frowned at how the weird woman was. She was unlike he had ever come across. Nevertheless, his clear vision was back and he could not be more elated about it.

A few hours ago, how he had given up on hope, and here he was standing with his eyes working normally just like before. He was happy to no extent.

His future was not dark after all. He could not wait to share this news with his mother. Only wondering how would he tell her that he was alright out of suddenly.

Maybe...maybe he could tell that the disease was only momentary and it went off. He had no idea how though either.

He did recall her words about how he was supposed to keep the entire thing a secret. He might just make a slight exception and share it with Vin. It would not harm, right?

After a while, the Uber came by and he waved his hand indicating it was him who needed the ride. The grey swift stopped and in no seconds, he got inside.

They were on road back to his home right after he narrated to the driver his home's address. He leaned his head back on the window, looking out.

He could now read all the signboards clearly from inside the car. Before he could not even read his book if held too far away from him. And now he could read even the small milestone engraved to the furthest corner of the road.

He was happy finally. Everything was going back to how it was before. He scanned the sky and he would not lie and say that he did not notice the satellites strolling there. He could see a hundred meters ahead of him.

It was the perks of the new upliftment of the technology. He did not mind that. It was alright till his eyes were working just fine.

The Uber stopped in front of his alley. He got out since the ride was already paid for. He could sense that it was late in the dusk and his mother must be really furious by now.

The stray dog started barking at him which was weird because they all knew him. He wondered why he started walking off, unknown to him his eyes kept changing colours.
