SUPREME VISION SYSTEM

Chapter 65 - YOU DESERVE IT!

" It was nice working with you. Remember not to tell about this to anyone. Promise me."

He was finding everything that she was speaking outright then seemed like this entire thing that she did to him was meant to keep a deep secret. But why?

He wanted to ask although he knew better than to ask her directly because she would of course not blurt out one word to him.

"I promise? But why though? Don't you want your research subject to be known by others?"

He interfered even though he knew what her reply would be like yet he wanted to give it a try and he knew better than to tell his mother about all these. She would just clap two slaps on his cheeks for walking away with a stranger.

Plus he had no one except for Vin to whom he tells everything. He did not know if he should tell him or not this time though. Was this whole matter meant to keep top-secret?

"You do not have to worry about our research subject. It was nice working with you, Cole Sullivan."

Those were her last words as even before he could question her more, she started the engine and was driving off.

Cole frowned at how the weird woman was. She was unlike he had ever come across. Nevertheless, his clear vision was back and he could not be more elated about it.

A few hours ago, how he had given up on hope, and here he was standing with his eyes working normally just like before. He was happy to no extent.

His future was not dark after all. He could not wait to share this news with his mother. Only wondering how would he tell her that he was alright out of suddenly.

Maybe...maybe he could tell that the disease was only momentary and it went off. He had no idea how though either.

He did recall her words about how he was supposed to keep the entire thing a secret. He might just make a slight exception and share it with Vin. It would not harm, right?

After a while, the Uber came by and he waved his hand indicating it was him who needed the ride. The grey swift stopped and in no seconds, he got inside.

They were on road back to his home right after he narrated to the driver his home's address. He leaned his head back on the window, looking out.

He could now read all the signboards clearly from inside the car. Before he could not even read his book if held too far away from him. And now he could read even the small milestone engraved to the furthest corner of the road.

He was happy finally. Everything was going back to how it was before. He scanned the sky and he would not lie and say that he did not notice the satellites strolling there. He could see a hundred meters ahead of him.

It was the perks of the new upliftment of the technology. He did not mind that. It was alright till his eyes were working just fine.

The Uber stopped in front of his alley. He got out since the ride was already paid for. He could sense that it was late in the dusk and his mother must be really furious by now.

The stray dog started barking at him which was weird because they all knew him. He wondered why he started walking off, unknown to him his eyes kept changing colours.

Parking her Mercedes Benz on the far side of the countryside, Emily Parkinson got out.

She finally threw off the mask from her face and removed the woolen beanie, letting her neck length brunette hair fall.

She closed her eyes as she breathed in the cool air, trying to calm her nerves down. She did it. She did it what she had been plotting for a little more than eight months ago.

She did not know today that she would come across the perfect case that would fit her subject all too well. Nevertheless, she was happy as she slipped out a cigarette from her coat pocket.

She lighted it and started smoking it. She did what was right. She knew that even though what she did was wrong in so many ways, she did not care.

What mattered was she did it right. If he had access to the lenses, he would disrupt the whole research criterion and use it for himself.

And he was not allowed to do that but still once he had those lenses, no one would be able to stop him so she had to make someone else wear those before him.

"You deserve it."

She said as she tossed the cigarette off, crushing it with her boots and then getting back inside her Mercedes Benz and driving away.

He inhaled and then knocked on the door thinking every possible reaction his mother would have. He only hoped that she was not worried just too much about the whole ordeal.

Ivory heard the knocking sound of the door, sitting in the living room with Rafael. Vin had left a while ago. The poor guy was there for them but he needed to head home so Ivory asked Rafael to walk him out halfway only to make sure he walked home safe and sound.

Before she could run and open the door, Rafael was quick on his steps to open it. So she asked him who was it.

"Who is it, Rafael?"

She hoped that it would be her son but in the meantime did not want to get disappointed either so kept her hopes low as she asked the question but stopped in her tracks when she saw it was indeed her son, Cole.

He was standing there with nothing except for a confused look. Rafael let him in by moving aside. She could see that his jacket was wet from being drenched in the snowstorm.

"Where the hell were you? "

Ivory shouted as Cole stopped on his way to his room. He knew it was rude to just ignore his mother and head straight up to his room but so many things had happened.

The first thing he wanted to do was examine himself...his eyes in front of the mirror. See how it looked like the lenses in his eyes. He had not gotten the time to do so.

"Ivory...take it easy..." Rafael said.

"I know you were angry and I might have said things that I should not have but this does not give you the right to be..."

"....I was in Vin's place..."

Cole cut his mother short with a lie but what he did not know was that Vin had been here and left only a while ago.

Ivory now got too much angrier than before. Instead of speaking the truth, he was now lying straight on her face.

Cole did not know what was happening but he could see that his mother might have seen through his lie....maybe she contacted Vin?  He should have thought before he said it.

"Oh yeah...? You had been at Vin's with him being here with us the entire evening?"

Ivory implored, crossing her hands over her chest. She wanted to see how he would defend himself now. She was just so hurt looking at him trying to lie to her.

"Do you have anything more to say now?"

Cole looked down in shame. He did not know what to say and what not to say. He was just pretty much trapped now. All he could say maybe that he needed time and wanted to just rest.

"...mom...listen I m sorry for just..heading out and lying to you...I.I just feel so tired...I want to rest. I was in the park. "

Cole muttered not matching his eyes with his mother. If he did match eyes with her, she would have sensed that he was lying again.

"Let him go, Ivory. He must be really tired. We all had a very long exhausting day."

Mr.Evans moved forward, trying to cover it up for him. Cole was at least thankful for that. He knew that if Mr. Evans did not tag along with his mother, things could have turned more worst too.

Ivory nodded her head understanding what Rafael was trying to say and dismissed Cole to his room.
