Fake 86: I Want To Be Stronger

I felt in yesterday’s battle that, in proportion to my rise in rank, the rank of the enemies I had to face also became higher.
And then, the skills I had been using via [Faker] were degraded versions of the originals. So, the benefits from leveling up were halved. Maybe because of that, the rise in power of my skills wasn’t able to keep up with the changes in enemies’ rank.
Currently, I was still able to defeat the enemies thanks to the skills I had imitated from Kamiki-san. However, I could feel that the number of battles where I was forced to struggle was clearly increasing.
It would be good if it was just my needless worries, but I had a feeling that this tendency would get more apparent as I ranked up more.
If this trend continued, in all likelihood, it was clear that my growth limit would come in the near future.
I don’t want to be left behind without doing anything, especially after I’ve luckily formed a party with Aoi!
However, there wasn’t much the current me could do.
The first option was to imitate powerful skills like Kamiki-san’s skills.
Kamiki-san’s skills were by far the most powerful among the skills I had imitated. If I could imitate those kinds of powerful skills from other survivors as well, even when I had to face stronger monsters in the future, I would be able to deal with them.
Another was to improve my own abilities.
For example, polishing my close combat ability, which was miserably lacking. If I could defeat the monsters without relying only on skills, there’s no doubt that my subsequent battles against monsters would become much easier.
As for the first option, that was not impossible. The fact that Kamiki-san was a B-ranker meant that there were other survivors in the world who possessed equal or greater power than him.
Although I had never met them, it was highly likely that I would encounter them in my future activities.
However, it was highly dependent on luck, and I don’t know when I would encounter them. So, it wasn’t something I could accomplish right away.
And for the second option, my current physical strength and athletic abilities were, to put it mildly, normal; to put it strictly, below average. Nevertheless, if I spent a lot of time training, I might reach a level where I could fight someday. But, it was also not something that could be achieved immediately.
All things considered, the only choice left was to upgrade my equipment.
As I’ve been doing quite a number of quests lately, I have money.

“Aoi, I am going to the association today.”

“Is something the matter?”

“I am thinking of buying some equipment.”

“To buy equipment? Then, can I also tag along with you?”

“Of course, it is okay.”

Without a moment of delay, I decided to go to the equipment shop with Aoi.

“Excuse me. May I see the weapons and armor?”

“Yes, is there anything on your mind?”

“Although I’ve seen inner armor the previous time, I’d like to see it again and some weapons.”

“Understood. Then, let’s start with inner armor. Medium size seems about right.”

Having said that, the clerk took out several types of inner armor from the back of the shop.
When I came here previously, I was shown only one type. But, there seemed to be three types this time.

“When it comes to medium size inner armor, these three types are recommended.”

“So, there are also different types of inner armor.”

“Yes, there are various types of inner armor with different raw materials and performance. However, the higher performance ones have accordingly higher prices.”

After hearing the clerk’s words, I realized why I was shown three types of inner armor this time.
Last time it was probably out of concern for me, who didn’t seem to have much money, that he only showed me one type of inner armor.
That means, the other two are more expensive……?
