THAT DAY I BECAME A STAR

KEVIN DRAGONROAD POV:

It has been two months now since I came to Mercuria. Frankly speaking, I must admit that some things have changed.

"Another unnecessary movement!"

I am training like usual with Albert while the others are fighting in teams. So far, he said I haven't made enough progress but I have been able to improve a lot of things.

"So what?!! Lumion!"

Thanks to his guidance, Lumion is now more powerful than before. I have maintained the cross slash while changing the movement used to execute it. It is a bit more fluid now. But just that bit has added a lot of power to it, I think. 

"Still too slow!!"

Albert deflects the attack easily and kicks my stomach. Before I can even touch the ground, he is already on top of me, ready to unleash his next move.

"SNAKE BITE!"

He started using that technique last month after I finally managed to graze him. When he uses it, hundreds of small needle-like blades appear and move like snakes, striking at precise points. Just like a snake.

I don't see how that is connected to a raizen's technique but he is the teacher. I am the student. Like Excafol would say: only the ignorant would question something before mastering it himself. 

From what Albert told me, it was the best script he created for offensive purposes. Though it is not that effective against multiple enemies because the damage won't be focused, it has a very good range and is deadly in a one-on-one fight..

"Shit!!" I try my best to counter and dodge the blades while moving towards Albert.

The blades cut me a lot but I still reach him. Now let's see how you will handle Tremor.

"Take this, old man!"

"I am not that old! Wave!"

Just like the first time he used it, three waves of Angas are created and not only block my attack but even destabilize me as well. Or so it should be. I already knew it would turn out like this so I had prepared myself.

Albert attempts a strike and I use Disperse then reappear right in front of him. This time, for sure!!

"Lightni-"

Somehow, Albert moves to the side and hits the back of my head with the knob of his raizen. How? He shouldn't be able to do that after that swing. No, he shouldn't have been able to move so fast. I had him!

"You left yourself wide open again. I knew you were faking. Don't smile like an idiot if you want to surprise somebody."

"I was smiling?" Shit, I didn't know.

"Yeah, quite happily at that."

Albert places his raizen on his shoulder and turns around. Most of the students are sweating. They have already finished their training.

"This year inter-classes battles will not be interesting."

"Inter-classes what?"

"Inter-classes battles?" What is that?

Right as I finish speaking, somebody comes flying in our direction. We both evade him and look at him crashing on the tiles of our stage like a trunk. I don't know who he is but this must hurt.

"Urgh…" Yep, it definitively hurts.

Looking in the opposite direction, I see Lanuvel standing in the middle of an ice field.

"Ah, the ice queen got irritated a little."

The sovereign of ice. That's the name Lanuvel gave to her script. I don't know how she managed to imagine and create such a script but she looks beautiful standing in the middle of those ice pillars sticking from the ground with her sword completely covered in ice. Though i wonder why she says queen of ice when she called it. 

"Hyaa!"

While I am admiring Lanuvel, somebody else's scream breaks the silence she suddenly brought in the training ground. As we look in the direction of the sound, another queen is standing, holding her spear in an elegant manner, surrounded by a hurricane. She is floating in the air gracefully. 

"Even the wind fairy is angry today? What happened?"

"I wonder as well."

Albert and I get off the stage and like they were following us, both queens do the same.

The reason why they are angry…

"Well, good morning, lowly murderer."

"Morning, Lanuvel."

"Hello there, absolute scumbag."

"Good morning, Keltia."

Yesterday, they came to visit us at our dorm. Lanuvel brought her pet which Farner kept calling honey. It was a little creature with round eyes, big ears, grey fur, and a tail. With four legs just like us. All the girls started petting him in the hall, even Rocxia, with large smiles on their faces until it escaped for whatever reason. They were certainly way too rough wiyh it. Those girls with their gnoll's lile strength can't caress anything without breaking it I am sure.

I was quietly reading the Longinus' notebook I received from the teacher when it suddenly showed up, landing on my book then pooping on it.

I got so angry that before it tried to jump off my book, I caught him. I didn't plan on killing him but it seems I pressed too hard. Blood poured out of his mouth and ears instantly. When I opened my hand, it just fell on the floor and blood spread all around its body.

The shouts of anger that resounded after that are still ringing in my ears.

"You…"

"Don't worry about it, Teacher." Please don't look at me like that.

After the general training, we have a class with the Longinus teacher. I didn't bring the book she gave me since it got dirty with feces. But I still remember all the questions I wanted to ask her. I should also ask her for the best way to handle each type of Longinus. She doesn't speak too much about it even though it is what should be more important. 

The class goes on with only me and her, all the other students have their minds elsewhere. There has been a rather joyful mood for the past week in the academy. Like spring has come, which is weird since winter is coming soon.
