THAT DAY I BECAME A STAR

KEVIN DRAGONROAD POV:

"Fuu…It's over now." Lanuvel, I have avenged you. I am sorry that I was late but you are avenged. And don't worry too much, I will join you soon. 

"Are you sure she is dead?" 

"Nope, but I guess she is since she isn't here. Or what, you think she is alive, Cissa?" 

"It's is highly likely that she is." 

"I never knew you to be the optimistic one." 

"Right." 

"Anyway, this…can I really call this an armor? It feels like my own skin or something." I look at myself and I must say that those dragon's scales are amazingly beautiful. Not to mention that the color is really one I like. 

"That is not an armor. It is the materialization of our soul, of our dragon's soul." 

Right when Cissa says that, Willhem and Thando land before me. Their new look is cool. Though mine is obviously cooler. After all, it is only their aura that is covering them unlike me who has actual scales.

"Tch. Hey! That's unfair! I want those as well!" And of course, Willhem would throw a tantrum. 

"Calm down. You will get it as well. Eventually."

"Why do I smell a lie there?" I stare at my face but I avert his gaze by looking at Thando. 

"I guess it is time, huh…" His eyes speak for himself. We did promise that once he helps me clear out the Longinus here. We would fight until death determines the winner. 

"Are you ignoring me, Bastard?!" 

"Yes, it is." 

"I see. Before we fight, you do know that you won't be able to use my power to fight me, right?" 

"I know. It won't be any different from fighting the Longinus with Regas. There is no point."

"I see." 

"But you can use your dragon's power if you want. I do not mind." 

"I do though. But anyway, let's-" Willhem smacks my head out of nowhere. Goddammit, it hurts!!!

"Hey!! It hurts!!" Wait a minute? It hurts? I can feel pain? I can feel at all?

I press my hand and I can feel my muscles reacting, I can feel the tip of my fingers touching the palm of my hand. I can feel the breeze on my face. I can feel just like before. 

"Hey, are you listening?" Willhem once again smacks me. 

"Hey!! I told you that it hurt!! Stop!" 

"Then look around you before going to fight like crazy fools." 

Willhem points at the people behind him. The heroes are there, together with my parents and some other people. It seems Rebecca has fainted seeing as William is holding her. Roxcia is unconscious as well. 

"Ah…Yeah, I almost forgot." What to do? I want to fulfill Thando's promise but if I go now, even if I come back later, will I really be able to face them? Even though I was already so late I left Lanuvel die? 

"Sigh…I knew it couldn't be that easy. Anyway, when you will be ready, come to where Nargil existed. I will wait for you there." 

Thando turns around and leaves. He goes away with such speed he disappears from our sight in a matter of seconds. Thank you for your understanding, Thando. Thank you very much. 

"Same for me, I will go back to Titanium to take back our things." 

"Okay." 

Willhem leaves as well. Now, let's all talk, shall we? I deactivate the dragon's scales and walk to the group. Willhem did his job well so most of the soldiers who are still alive are grouped together some distance away from the heroes. I wonder how many of them came here? Because I don't see more than a few hundred heads there. 

"Are you guys okay?" Farner just keeps looking with almost crying eyes. I know Farner, I know. I failed to protect her. I am sorry. I am so sorry.

"My son…" And you just had to open your stupid mouth.

"You lost the qualification to call me that a long time ago, William." 

"Son, please listen-"

"There is nothing to listen to." I reach them then stand in front of Farner who still doesn't say anything. "And I didn't come here for you anyway. Farner, Excia, are you okay?" 

"Y-yes. Yes, we are. What about you?" 

"I am good, Excia. But I am sorry. If I came here faster, Lanuvel would probably still be alive." Maybe even Samson. I don't see him as well. 

"Lanuvel? Isn't she in the capital?" 

"Eh?" Wait, she is alive? "She didn't fight?" 

"No, she is-" 

"Uwahh!!!" Farner finally shows signs of life. And the first thing she does is to jump on me while crying. "I was so scared!! I thought I was going to die!! Uwahhh!!" 

Oh, look at this cute thing. Well, I say cute but she is still a hero. Those who are looking at us right now must be surprised at her reaction, I am sure. But who am I to judge you? 

"It's okay. Everything is okay now." I pat her head while whispering to her ear. Excia just smiles warmly and her face finally relaxed. Yeah, it's okay. Now that I am here. Everything will be okay.

"Stay on your guard." 

"Why should I, Cissa?" 

"…" 

"Cissa?" 

Abruptly, Cissa warns me but then, nothing. What is happening? Anyway, as Farner has calmed down, I let her go and she stands in front of me, crying while covering her face with her hands like a little girl. Who would have ever thought that you were a crybaby? 

While I am looking at Farner, I see Rebecca standing up from the corner of my eyes. Does she have something to say as well? She walks to me and something doesn't feel right. There is a weird golden aura around her that feels somehow threatening. Even her eyes are shining with a very deep and profound blue. Is that really her? 

"I have found you." A voice that is in no way that of Rebecca comes out of her mouth and her hand moves like a snake and stabs me. 

"Kevin!!" 

"Arg-"
