The Alpha King
Chapter 57 - 57
Rohan's words rang through my head as I walked up the castle stairs. What did he mean when he said Xavier 'didn't come back the same' and how were the hunters killed?
I always wondered why Xavier didn't speak about the time that he lived there and perhaps he didn't want to because something terrible or dark happened. I know that I didn't feel comfortable or ready to speak about what happened when I was kidnapped maybe Xavier felt the same?
But what could have happened to him?
As I entered our bedroom and plopped down onto the bed like a starfish, I looked up at the ceiling. My thoughts consumed me. Everyday there seemed to be some new challenge. If it wasn't Cadmer, it was the war, if it wasn't the war it was my power and now this.
The war would be upon us soon enough and the tension that hung like a swollen cloud hung heavy in the castle. The werewolves trained day and night and Xavier, I barely even saw him because he worked so hard. How could I burden him by this and ask him about a time in his life that he clearly didn't want to tell me about?
I couldn't afford to bring it up now but after things have calmed down around here I'll try and bring it up to him.
And then there was Sebastian, Xavier did warn me about him but why? I knew there was something fishy about him that was obvious but I just couldn't put my finger on what exactly he was after.
My thoughts were interrupted when Xavier mind linked me, "Victoria, there's been another attack. I've just been informed, come to my office."
I immediate sat up, panicked I quickly replied, "I'm on my way." Making my way downstairs I passed the werewolves all rushing about around me, clearly as panicked as I was feeling.
As I stepped into Xavier office I noticed a few of his generals were already there along with Killian and Sebastian.
"Luna," they all greeted as I entered and bowed. I noticed Xavier standing behind his desk, his palms spread out on top of it. He stared at me for a second, his eyes telling me enough about how he felt, stressed.
"We have had an attack, the Spell Casters have attacked a group of the werewolves that were stationed just beyond our boarders. They killed fifteen of ours," There was a slight in take of breath around the room as he said that. Fifteen lives gone.
"However, we had the upper hand and managed to kill ten of theres. The good news is there were no survivors on their side but six of ours lived. The bad news is that ten Spell Casters managed to kill fifteen of our wolves and they are clearly advancing quicker than we anticipated." Xavier looked at each one of us as he said those words.
He let the weight of them fill the room, the Spell Casters would be here sooner than we thought. This would leave less time for us to plan, to train, to prepare! What were we going to do?
I immediately panicked, on top of all of that, I had barely any control of my powers. This was a complete disaster.
Xavier immediately took charge and gave everyone instruction on what they needed to do to prepare for this set back.
"Luna, is there anything that would like to add?" Xavier asked me. Everyone turned to look at me but I did not feel intimidated. I felt as if they respected me and anything I had to say.
"I would just like to tell you all to please contact me if you or your families need anything. I have been in the campsites around the castle and I know that resources may be running low in some. Before it gets to that point I would like to be informed so that a solutions can be made."
They all agreed and once other matters were dealt with they all shuffled out. I immediately went towards Xavier, our bond almost calling out to me to be closer to him.
'You okay,' I asked with my eyes.
'Tired,' he said back.
"How did your training go?" He asked as he sat down leaning his elbows on the table and resting his fists under his chin.
"That really isn't important but it went fine. Now tell me what's going through your head."
"A lot of things right now. I'm worried we won't have enough time. I didn't think they would start advancing so soon." He sighed as he looked at me.
"I know, I was thinking the exact same thing but remember we do have the upper hand, numbers wise."
"Yes, but they have their magic and one of them, if they know how to wield their magic properly could kill three of ours."

Days passed, everything blurred together. A jumble of intense training everyday with Killian and then more training with Xavier. Everyone was on high alert seeing as the chances of them attacking increased as the days passed.
I still couldn't wield my power but I was making progress however it wasn't enough as Killian kept reminding me.
I looked over at him in one of the green house gardens that we were in and saw him glaring at a flower in front of him.
The green house had some sort of heating technology that allowed summer flowers to bloom and so everything was green inside.
It was beautiful like a little green, flowering island situated amongst all the white snow. It was also rather hot in here.
We were on a break from training which was more my idea than his. I had to practically beg him to have one.
"Killian, how do you know Xavier?" I asked as I stretched my sore legs out in front of me on the ground. Killian turned to look at me, his face making it quiet obvious how annoyed he was with me.
"He's my King, I'm his Delta," he said drily. His large frame was stretched out on the ground similar to mine, however he was sitting Indian style, his arms crossed over his chest.
"Oh come on, you know what I mean. An Alpha only picks his closest confidants to be his Beta and Delta. It's the highest honour, he wouldn't have picked you for fun."
Killian glared at me and then glared at me some more. I was certain he wasn't going to say anything but instead throw something at my head when he said,
"I was nothing before I met him. A poor boy who had absolutely nothing in his life but a father that was too sick to work and a dead mother."
"But aren't packs meant to provide for their pack members?"
"Yes, almost all do but mine didn't. We didn't have that kind of funds or resources. Up in the Northern Mountain-"
"Wait, did you say Northern Mountains?" Does that mean he was sort of the Hollows Bone pack? Would he know anything about why Xavier never left the forest the same again?
"Yes, that was my pack. I practically grew up with the King and Luca. Lucas family also battled to provide for him and his two younger brothers and so he worked from a young age with us to help provide for his family.
We hunted together, we fought together, we became brothers. Through all those hard years, Alpha stood by mine and Lucas side and we never fought each other until..." He stared directly at me, not in a shaming way but in a matter of fact way.
"Until you came along. That day in the clearing was the first time I had ever fought him and the first time I thought he would kill me."
"I-I...ah I'm sorry I didn't mean to," I said drawing my legs up. Killian just rolled his eyes at me.
"Relax, it wasn't your fault." He said as he got up from the ground. I quickly got up as well.
"Wait, Killian, were you with Xavier when him and a few hunters went into the forest and some were killed?" I rushed out but them kind of regretted it when I watched Killian grow angry.
"How do you know about that?"
"That's not important. Why do people say something happened to Xavier? Did something happen to him?"
"Luna, I don't know who told you any of this but I don't have the answers and I think you should stop putting your nose where it's not wanted."
My eyes flashed at his last words.
"The only business my nose is in is in my mates business. If you don't want to say anything about it then that's fine but don-"
"Don't what?"
I stopped at the sound of his voice interrupting us.. I turned around and saw Xavier standing there with his arms crossed.
