The Alpha King
Chapter 65 - 65
The rain poured down as the three of us eyed the Spell Casters. Xavier stood to my right and his power sent ripples of waves through the field. Killian stood to my left like a lion about to gut his prey.
Xavier and Killian both raised their swords. They looked like deadly warriors. Xaviers bloodlust seemed to only grow as time ticked by and Killian looked about ready to risk his life if it meant he'd get to slice through the Spell Casters.
"I thought I told you not to bring any weapons." I mind linked Xavier as I grinned, my eyes never leaving the Spell Casters.
"I learnt from you, to go against orders." I rolled my eyes at him, knowing he probably couldn't see me.
The Spell Casters magic was growing and its pungent smell burned my nose. It smelt like sulphur and I had to practically force my gag down.
I quickly reined in my focus and tried to expand a shield of sorts around the three of us. Hopefully this way their magic won't work on us, for now at least.
I watched as they grew slightly confused as to why their magic wasn't working. If I could repel Cadmers, I could project that same energy in repelling theirs and protecting us.
The Spell Casters started to move and we watched as they formed a circle around us, their red cloaks bright against the dull greenery.
Xavier turned to his right and I remained facing the front as Killian turned to his left. We were back to back but I didn't know how long that would last. We couldn't stay in these positions the entire time which meant we weren't going to be able to guard each other's backs.
The Spell Casters began to inch closer. All was quiet until a cry of fury was heard. The red haired from earlier on stepped away from the circle and spat in my direction. She gripped her thin gleaming sword tightly as she broke out in a run towards me.
I spread my feet and called on my wolf as she ran closer. The rest of the Spell Casters followed suit, they all charged towards us now.
I growled and we clashed into each other. She was moving so fast as she swung her sword in my direction over and over again. She tried to stab me in my stomach but I blocked her quick angry movement with the switch blade in my left hand. I had to quickly move my right hand up with the other switch blade to protect my face as she raised her sword to stab me there.
My wolf barred her fangs and we pushed our body weight into her as we tried to attack her back. We weren't going on the offence.
Her movements were too fast and driven by anger. She wasn't thinking about her attacks and that left us with the upper hand. We quickly assessed her form and found an opening. Her left side was left unarmed as she swung for us.
It happened in the space of two moves. I ducked and as I ducked I stabbed her in her exposed side. She cried out and we took that as an opportunity to stab her again in the other side.
She fell to the cold hard ground, dead. At least she can join her beloved in hell.
As soon as she was down two more Spell Casters came rushing towards me. I didn't have time to catch my breath as they came at me at once. It was two men and they attacked me in full force. I had dealt with worse in the previous battle. I quickly regained my focus and let my wolf and my body take over.
I extend my awareness and tried to grasp as many minds as I could. I quickly got a hold of four and projected an image, a feeling of being suffocated and soon enough bodies were dropping.
I quickly looked down and the two Spell Casters were lying in pieces at my feet. I stepped over them and once again the Spell Casters practically threw themselves at me at they all rushed at me. I could hardly think as I swung my blades and moved my body accordingly. Bodies were falling all around my me as I swung my arms and projected my awareness.
The rain was pouring down on us and I welcomed the cold shock it brought as it soaked my skin and washed the blood from my body.
As I fought I looked quickly for Xavier and saw him fighting around ten Spell Casters all at once. His body moved more skilfully than a dancer. He looked so calm and composed as he cut through them. The clouds above him seemed to be the darkest in the sky.
Thirty bodies lay at his feet already and he didn't even seem to notice. His light blue eyes glowed as he continued his deathly dance.
I would never want to fight against him.
I was forced to look away from him as one of the Spell Casters swung their sword towards my stomach. I immediately jumped back into action as ducked out of the way. It didn't take long before I cut him down and moved onto my next opponents.
I noticed Killian a little distance in front of me and blood was splattered all over his bare chest and his face. I would have been concerned but I just knew it wasn't his blood.
He moved less gracefully than Xavier but he still managed to hack at his opponents. If it were the Greek times I would think he would fit the description of a berserker on the battlefield perfectly.
I didn't know how long we were fighting for or how many we had killed but the Spell Casters just kept on coming and coming. I'd kill four and eight more would spring up. They weren't as skilled with a blade and I can imagine that's because they relied too much on their magic but they were skilled enough and we were vastly outnumbered.
My wolf tried her hardest to heal as much of the wound we were getting as she could but I knew it wouldn't last forever. Sooner than later I'd have to shift into my wolf.
Four Spell Casters surrounded me and I managed to stab one in the arm just as I plunged my blade into the neck of the other. He fell to the ground as I yanked my blade out. I felt one come up behind me and I quickly turned my body in time, my wolfs senses aiding me. I kicked her in the face and she to fell to the ground. The one I stabbed in the arm came at me again as another approached my side.
I quickly used my awareness and heard the one behind me fall dead as I threw my blade into the chest of the one I had cut. Before he joined his friends on the ground I yanked my blade out and moved onto the next Spell Casters who were already attacking me.
I had just punched one of them in the face when I saw around thirty werewolves come charging down the hills from the direction of the castle.
Thank the Moon Goddess, our recruits had arrived. As they neared I noticed how exhausted and bloodied they looked. They must have been the only ones able to leave the castle to come down here.
They didn't waste any time as they howled their battle cry and charged straight into the fight. Some were already shifted and their wolves tore through the bodies of the Spell Casters. Others shifted into their wolves mid air leaving a small amount still in human form.
The wolves large muscled bodies tore through the battlefield the way an earthquake ripples and breaks the earth apart. The wolves were a force to be reckoned with.
I tired my hardest to project my protection to the rest of the wolves but I could only manage around fifteen more people. It was getting harder and harder to keep the guard up as well as fight and use my awareness.
The Spell Casters didn't waste any time as they began using their magic again on the ones they thought they could.
It was getting darker and darker as the rain continued to pour and thunder shook the sky.
I continued fending off attacks until I felt a sharp pain in between my ribs. I cried out and hunched over and when I looked down at my chest I saw that there was no visible wound.
I furrowed my eyebrows in confusion until it hit me at once where the pain was coming from.
Xavier, he was injured and badly.
Xavier and Killian both raised their swords. They looked like deadly warriors. Xaviers bloodlust seemed to only grow as time ticked by and Killian looked about ready to risk his life if it meant he'd get to slice through the Spell Casters.
