The Birthday Of a Special Stranger

 "Jolene? Don't you have classes to attend?"

Edward stood up and gently helped his girl standing too.

"Come on John it's break time, and you know what a talented artist your little sister is. I'm not skipping classes so don't worry."

John, the eldest heir of the Paterson family, was Jolene's only sibling. An over protective brother who happened to be engaged to his sister's childhood classmate, Anna.

"That's true Jolene; you were born with a great talent, lucky you!" Anna added.

" Besides being a talented artist, my sister is also smart. Not to forget that she's the school belle. She deserves a man who matches her in everything"

John glanced at Edward with a challenging look in his eyes, before Anna spoke her mind in a low envious tone.

"well she already has him."

"By the way Jolene, our mother insists that you join the family dinner tonight, so I will pick you up after class. Just to make sure you'll get there in time."

"There's no need for that brother. Ed will take me home as usual."

John took another glance at Edward.

 "Hi there, I didn't notice you were here too, I haven't seen you in a long time."

 John was never a fan of Edward. Since their childhood, Ed was the perfect only son of the rich and powerful Hann family. No matter what John did to prove himself, he would always be inferior compared to Edward.

"Hi, John" Edward replied while checking his phone. His indifferent behavior provoked John even more.

Jolene was looking around when she suddenly spotted a very familiar face.

 "Chris? It's really you! Why are you standing far from us? I almost didn't recognize you! When did you come back from abroad?"

"Hi Jolene, I arrived a couple of days ago. It was a bit hard without you guys there. I missed you."

Chris was John's best friend. An athletic man who won several swimming contests.

Anna approached Chris and whispered in a disgusted tone.

"Such a weak guy you are. You have no idea how stupid and pathetic you look when you openly show your one sided love. Your face expression is making me feel nauseous."

Irritated by Anna's venomous words, Chris clenched his feast in anger and took his leave.

" I'm glad you look fine Jolene. Now please excuse me, I have to go to the gym. We'll catch up later."

"Of course! Come by when you're free, we'll defeat John in chess like the old days!"

Anna was John's fiancée and Jolene's classmate back in middle and high school. A pretty lady from a rich family. Also known as a two faced girl with very good acting skills.

"We'll be leaving too little sister, take care."

"See you later sister in law, I will be joining you guys on dinner tonight."

Anna passed by Edward and hushed in a lustful voice.

"It would be such a great pleasure if you could join us too"
