The Blue Eyes
Chapter 174 - THE MYSTERIOUS TEACHER
They gathered in the orphanage again this afternoon. Kevin and Kris said to each other that they had something to discuss, and they agreed to meet in the orphanage after the former finished his work in the laboratory.
Kevin went to the orphanage straight from his laboratory with his new car, while Kris was going to the same place after he picked up Blue in her school.
Blue had changed her clothes and hurriedly made some drinks for them. But, when the girl finally arrived at the living room, the three men frowned at her confusedly.
"I forgot to buy tea yesterday, so we only have water today," the blue-eyed girl explained as she put down the four glasses of water on the table. She seemed to notice the three men's weird gazes toward her, and she didn't give them a chance to question her.
"Oh? I didn't know you ran out of tea, Blue. That's why I didn't think about buying it when we went grocery shopping yesterday," Kevin responded.
"It's okay, Brother," Blue replied as she positioned herself beside Jack.. "We can always drink water, right? It's healthier than tea."
"Uh, I can't drink water. Don't we have coffee here?" Jack suddenly butted in.
"We don't have coffee in the orphanage. Coffee is not good for the kids."
Jack rolled his eyes at Blue's reply. "But, the caretaker of this orphanage needs a coffee to survive, Blue. Don't you think about my need as well?"
Blue and Jack were arguing, and the other two men just observed them silently. Kris even got the nerve to take out one of Kevin's bread from the paper bag and started eating it. He felt like watching a soap opera.
"Just buy some instant coffees for Jack tomorrow, Blue," Kevin decided to intervene. "Put the coffee on the higher shelf so the kids won't be able to grab it."
Blue huffed angrily while Jack was grinning from ear to ear. He just won the verbal battle against the stubborn girl.
Sensing the situation was more conducive now, Kevin started the meeting, "Kris said to me that he had something to tell me, and I also have something to tell you guys. That's why I invited you guys to this meeting."
"You sound so formal, Kevin," Jack suddenly chimed in while giggling a little.
"It's okay to be formal. The situation is quite tense, after all," Kris didn't want to be left behind as he butted in.
Usually, at times like this, the two handsome men would start fighting and none of them was willing to give in. Kris indeed criticized Jack's comment, but the tone sounded normal, and he didn't seem to get irritated by Jack's random remark earlier.
It seemed that they were truly in peace now. The fact made Kevin smile a little.
"So," the scientist spoke again as he turned to Kris, who was sitting beside him. "What do you want to talk about with me, Kris?"
Kris returned the gaze as he answered, "It's Blue who wants to share her new findings with you, Kev."
Kevin looked puzzled, but he then turned to the young girl. "What is it, Blue? You found something new?" He asked curiously.
The girl nodded curtly. "I found car wheels' trails near the buried valley, Brother. It seems that there's an activity in the valley," she explained.
"Are you sure that the trails are not from the trucks that stored the material there?" Kevin asked the girl again.
"I have analyzed the size of the trails, and it didn't look like the trails of truck wheels. It looks like cars wheels."
Kevin fell silent while frowning deeply.
"From the photograph in Blue's laptop, the buried valley seems to be a deserted area. Is it possible that there's human activity there?" Jack butted in.
"That's a satellite imagery, not a photograph," the girl corrected Jack's words coldly. "I'm not one hundred percent sure about that, and I think we need to go there to make sure."
"That's the best choice," Kevin chimed in. "But, we need to wait for a green light from Julia first. She probably can provide more information related to the valley."
The three people in the room nodded at Kevin's opinion.
"Blue still has one thing to share with us," Kris added the information.
Kevin and Jack then focused on the raven-haired girl again.
The girl looked unsure, though. Getting intense gazes from the two people, she got more nervous.
"It's about Teacher Felix," she said timidly. "I'm suspecting him," she continued.
The girl's statement surprised Kevin, but he tried to maintain his expression as he asked, "Why do you suspect your teacher, Blue? You always admire him, right?"
The girl nodded before answering, "I do admire him, Brother. But I think something is not right with him." She lowered her head and stared blankly at the floor. "It's weird that he had to lie about his hometown when we accidentally met in Chilad. In addition, I saw him talking to someone on the phone mysteriously a few days ago."
Blue's further explanation made Kevin's body tense. He and Blue were indeed similar. He didn't expect that the girl would have the same thought as him related to his senior.
"Did you hear what he said at that moment, Blue?" Kevin asked again.
"I heard a little, but not clearly," replied the girl. "He said that everything was going according to their plan, and he asked the person on the other end of the phone not to worry. He seemed to be talking to someone respectable because he sounded very polite at the time."
They got another clue, but the clue was still vague.
"Jack said that Professor Joseph Beischel called someone mysteriously and also looked polite, right? Is it possible that they were calling the same person?" Kris chimed in.
"We can't easily conclude that," the young scientist replied. "Teacher Felix was indeed suspicious, but we don't know whether he is related to my father or not. But..." He solemnly looked at the three people when he continued, "I also found something about Teacher Felix."
[Kevin was very shocked upon hearing Luke's answer. He had expected that something was fishy with his senior, but he didn't expect that the oddity was to that extent.
The black-haired man then looked up at Luke again and asked, "Did Senior Felix find a formula to create a werewolf?"
He could see his colleague looked hesitant as the latter leaned backward again. "I think so," he answered in a slight whisper. "It's secret information, so I only know a little about it."
Kevin fell silent. The head of Orka had deliberately hidden such information, and he could understand the point. Callum Conor probably wouldn't want to cause a ruckus if other scientists knew about Felix's idea of creating a new werewolf to fight the previous generation of werewolves.
"So, did Senior Felix resign at his will, or was he fired by our boss?" Kevin asked again.
Luke frowned as he pondered deeply. "Senior Felix submitted the letter of resignation by himself," he answered. "Our boss didn't have the intention to fire him. Mr. Conor just wanted him to get rid of that idea."
Kevin's body grew tenser at the answer. "Mr. Conor gave him a second chance, but he chose to quit. Do you think he still has the idea in his mind?"]
"I got that information from my colleague, and that's why I invited my colleague to have lunch together today," Kevin ended his story while glancing at Kris.
Kris squirmed in his seat after knowing the truth. It was apparent that he felt uneasy because of Kevin's naughty glance. Kevin was not angry, but he just wanted to tease his lover.
"I also notice that something is fishy with the teacher!" Jack suddenly exclaimed. "When we accidentally met in Chilad, he looked so nervous back then. He acted like someone who was caught in the act."
Kevin nodded while smiling wistfully. "So, all of us have been suspecting him for a long time, right?" He asked.
"Uh, I'm not," Kris suddenly chimed in. "I only met the teacher once, and I was too nervous back then. I didn't feel anything wrong about the teacher."
Kevin chuckled at Kris's honest confession. He then raised his hand and landed it on his lover's stiff shoulder. He rubbed it gently as he said, "Relax, Kris. We can only think clearly if we're relaxed."
Kevin seemed to notice Kris's uneasiness, and he guessed that it was related to his jealousy earlier. He didn't mind Kris's jealousy, though. He loved to see Kris's expression when he was jealous.
"What should we do with the teacher now?" Jack spoke again. "Should we follow him closely to know his plan?"
The question got no answer for a moment. The three people fell silent, considering what they should do next. They all knew that they couldn't act rashly because it felt like they were trying to catch a thief. If they didn't do it carefully, the thief would notice their intention and ran away before they could catch them.
Kevin sighed before he decided, "Let's give Julia a surprise visit."
Kevin went to the orphanage straight from his laboratory with his new car, while Kris was going to the same place after he picked up Blue in her school.
