The Blue Eyes
Chapter 173 - JEALOUS KRIS
Kris drove his red car on the busy road. It was right at noon, and the street was so busy. There was the sound of a car engine, and sometimes there was a honking sound too. Maybe the drivers were too impatient to find a place for lunch.
Even so, his face looked calm. Despite the busy streets and the new information he got from Blue, he was completely unaffected by the tense atmosphere. He just wanted to share some information with Kevin while they were having lunch today.
Kevin still hadn't replied to his message. He put the phone by the chair and occasionally glanced at it, but he didn't get a message from his lover. However, he still headed to the laboratory to take Kevin to lunch at a restaurant.
If he could be honest, then he wasn't sure that he would make it in time. He glimpsed at the watch on his wrist and noticed that the lunch break was almost over.. Kevin might have had lunch by now.
It was all his mistake for forgetting to turn off AZURE before he left the apartment. When he reached the underground parking lot, he just realized that he didn't turn off AZURE. The mistake forced him to go back to the apartment. That was why he wasted quite a lot of time today.
He knew that he might be late, but he continued driving to the laboratory nonetheless. He planned to bring Kevin some desert. That was his alternative plan as his main plan to have lunch with his lover was ruined.
There was a bakery near the laboratory, and the bakery was Kevin's favorite. That was why he decided to stop his car in front of the patisserie. He immediately turned off the car engine and unbuckled his seatbelt.
He was about to open the car door when his eyes caught a glimpse of a familiar figure. His eyes narrowed at the figure.
"Isn't that Kevin?" He subconsciously asked.
He surely recognized the man who was walking in his direction. The man was not alone, though. Another man was walking right beside his lover. Kris didn't recognize the man, but he felt uncomfortable when he saw his lover smiled at the man.
He gripped the steering wheel tightly to channel his emotions before quickly opened the car door. The caramel-haired man then strode toward his lover, who was still walking while smiling happily.
He almost collided with his lover if both he and his lover didn't stop in time. Kevin looked shocked when he finally saw him.
"Kris? What are you doing here?" The black-haired scientist asked.
Kris was still glaring at the unfamiliar man, but then he turned to his lover. "Who is he?" He asked his lover.
Instead of feeling intimidated by his cold tone, Kevin chuckled casually. "You sound like Blue when she met you for the first time," he replied.
The reply didn't satisfy Kris, and he kept staring at his lover, demanding a further explanation.
Kevin seemed to notice the gaze as he said, "He's Luke. He's an IT expert in the laboratory."
"Your laboratory needs an IT expert?" Kris asked again as he glanced at the grey-haired man. "But, what are you doing with him? You looked so happy just now," he added while looking back at Kevin.
"We had lunch together, Kris," Kevin answered. "And, what do you mean by saying that I looked happy just now. Didn't I always look happy?"
Kris ignored his lover's question as he gawked at the man named Luke. Kris felt a bit insecure in front of the man. The stranger didn't look bad at all. He had to admit that the stranger was handsome. His skin was fair and smooth, opposite to his tan and dull skin. In addition, he was also tall and looked smart. Kris admitted that the man was superior to him.
Kevin seemed to notice Kris's internal conflict. He immediately turned to Luke and asked, "Luke, can you go back to the laboratory first?"
The green-eyed man turned at Kevin, then glanced at Kris. It seemed that he also could feel the tension between the two men, so he just nodded without saying anything. After that, he started walking toward the laboratory building.
Now, there were only Kris and Kevin in front of the bakery.
"You want to buy me some cake, right? Let's go in," Kevin suddenly dragged his lover to the bakery.
Kris was startled, but he just let his lover did what he wanted.
Not long after, they were already inside the bakery. Kevin's eyes gleamed at the cakes that were on the display.
"We only had lunch, Kris. There's nothing between us," Kevin explained out of the blue.
It seemed that the black-haired scientist could read his lover's mind. Kris's expression was so obvious, after all. It was apparent that he was sulking.
"But, he is handsome," Kris replied.
Kevin chose to leave the cake on the display and turned to his lover. He chuckled a little before he responded, "He is indeed handsome, but you are the most handsome for me."
Kris blushed a little after he heard his lover's response. "But he looks cold and indifferent. I didn't know that you have a friend like that," he said.
Kevin nodded as he took a tray and a clamp. "You are right. He's just an acquaintance, not a friend," he confirmed.
The fair-skinned man started to use the clamp to pick some loaves of bread from the display.
"So, you asked him to have lunch with you for a purpose?"
Kevin's hand movement halted when he heard the question. He turned to his side and looked up at his lover in awe. "It feels like you are living in my brain, Kris. You can read my mind," he said.
It was Kris's turn to chuckle. "I'm not only living in your brain, but I also live in your heart. Am I right?" He responded confidently.
Kevin just scoffed as he walked to the cashier. He then handed the tray to the cashier lady and peeped at his lover. "Sure," he answered. "You are already inside me, so you don't need to feel jealous when you see me with another man."
The cashier lady looked stunned as she eavesdropped on their conversation.
Kris seemed to notice the lady's reaction, and he cleared his throat before he said, "I will wait for you outside, Kev."
The taller man was about to walk away, but Kevin held his arm. "Where's the money? You are the one who wanted to treat me, right?"
Kris facepalmed. His lover was quite shameless sometimes. However, he didn't protest and just hurriedly fished out his wallet from his pants pocket and handed it to his lover. The said lover accepted it with a grin, and Kris just jeered before walking away from the cashier. He decided to wait in front of the shop.
Today was quite unexpecting. He just wanted to have lunch with Kevin, but everything didn't go as he planned. It was not a bad day, but it was not a good day either. Furthermore, he was still haunted by the green-eyed man who looked more attractive than him. He rarely met someone who was better looking than him, so their encounter earlier bothered him a little.
He trusted Kevin wholeheartedly, but he didn't fully trust himself. He was worried that he couldn't be the best lover for Kevin.
"Earth to, Kris."
A voice and a tap on his shoulder broke his reverie. He turned to his side and found Kevin standing beside him. His lover was the one who broke his daydream by tapping his shoulder with a wallet.
"Thank you for treating me today!" The young scientist announced cheerfully as he handed the brown wallet to the owner.
Kris snorted as he accepted the wallet. "Are you happy now?" He asked while glancing at the paper bag in his lover's hand. The bag was full. Kevin bought a lot today.
The shorter man giggled before answering, "Yes, I am." He stared at Kris playfully. "But I will be happier if you can give me a sweet smile. You have been pouting nonstop, Kris."
Kris didn't realize that he was pouting. Hearing his lover's request, he immediately changed his expression and stretched his lips for a bit. He gave his lover a stiff smile.
"You look like a robot now," Kevin said while giggling cutely. He then raised his hands and used his index fingers to stretch the corner of Kris's lips. "You should smile like this. I always love to see your smile."
Kris felt like a fool now, but he finally could smile with a light heart because of his lover's foolish attitude.
"I'm not a kid," Kris said.
Kevin grinned as he pulled back his hands. "I know. You are my man, right?" He asked.
Kris smiled softly as he brought his hand to ruffle Kevin's black locks. "I have something to tell you, Kev," he stated seriously.
The sudden change of tone made Kevin frown. "I also have something to tell you, Kris."
Even so, his face looked calm. Despite the busy streets and the new information he got from Blue, he was completely unaffected by the tense atmosphere. He just wanted to share some information with Kevin while they were having lunch today.
