The Blue Eyes

Kevin managed to beg Julia to arrange a meeting between him and Grace Hasler. Andre's wife couldn't stop questioning his intentions to meet her boss, but Kevin only said that he would discuss some personal matters with the short-haired woman.

Julia was puzzled when she heard Kevin's answer, and she was hesitant to arrange the meeting before finally giving up. She ended up arranging the meeting between the two people, but it was only this afternoon that Kevin got the chance to meet the fierce lady in her office.

He didn't bring his car to the laboratory earlier because Kris dropped him at the lab after they left his foster parents' house, so Kevin needed to hail a cab to head to the Intelligence Agency building.

He had let his lover know about the plan, and his lover initially wanted to pick him up at the laboratory building and send him to the Intelligence Agency headquarters. However, Kevin rejected the proposal. He just said to his lover to pick him up later after he finished talking with Grace Hasler.

He was currently in the lady's room, sitting opposite to the lady with a table separating them from one another. Kevin didn't expect that it would be easy for him to make an appointment with the lady, but it all thanked Julia for helping him to arrange the meeting.

Grace Hasler was still fierce and cold as ever, but Kevin remained unperturbed. He didn't have any bad intentions for the lady, so he could stay calm.

"So, what do you want to talk to me about, Kevin? You came here because you wanted to talk about something and not just wanted to do a staring contest, right? I have a family, and I know you have a lover as well. They won't be happy if we spend a long time in this room alone," Grace Hasler spoke coldly, and her sentence stunned Kevin.

"What?" The younger man asked the short-haired woman in surprise. "You know I have a lover? But how? I never announced my relationship."

Grace smirked before bringing her chin to rest on her smooth palm. "Do you think I'm blind? Do you think I don't know your relationship with Kris when you two are too obvious in the public?"

The young scientist was shocked once again. Grace wasn't the first to detect their relationship. Besides Grace, Blue and Julia also managed to see how their chemistry was overflowing in public.

Grace was not the first one to find out about their relationship, but Kevin was still surprised by it. In addition, Grace didn't seem to be someone who would care about other people's business, so he didn't expect that the lady would know about his relationship with Kris so easily.

"My relationship with Kris is not your business, Mrs. Hasler," Kevin replied to the lady sternly. "But, my relationship with you is indeed your business."

Grace looked relaxed when she heard Kevin's first statement, but the second statement quite shocked her. "What do you mean?" She asked, still in her stoic expression despite the slight shock earlier.

Kevin sighed before replying, "I remember that I once asked you about your relationship with my mother, but you told me that you're only acquainted with her, right? Are you sure about that?"

The young scientist brought up the old conversation, and Grace raised an eyebrow upon hearing it. "Can you just straight to the point? I don't have much time to listen to your nonsense."

It was not the first time they met, but Grace still built up a high fortress between them. The lady was still so cold and aloof, and Kevin was stubborn for wanting to destroy the fortress.

"My mother had adopted you, but you only see her as your acquaintance?"

And Grace gasped upon hearing Kevin's direct question. The man had been running in a circle with his vague questions earlier, but now Grace could understand the man's intention.

The lady was quite shocked, but she was not the mighty Grace Hasler if she couldn't cover her perplexed look with a small smirk on her face.

"So, you finally found out about it," the lady replied. "But you only know about it now, so I'm sure that you heard it not from your deceased mother, right?"

Grace was quite smart, and she probably had known about his foster parents' returning too. That was why Kevin didn't intend to hide the truth from the older lady.

"My foster parents told me about it this morning."

Kevin just confirmed her suspicion, and the smirk on her face became more apparent. "I wonder what did your foster parents say to you about me. They didn't like me since a long time ago, so I believe that they told you something bad about me, didn't they?"

Grace guessed it right again, and Kevin was more curious about the lady's relationship with his foster parents. Grace even knew that his foster parents didn't like her, but why?

"Your mother indeed had helped me, Kevin. And I'm always indebted with her," Grace spoke again, and Kevin looked up at her again.

"My mother indeed had helped you, but why did you act like a stranger with my mother? You didn't even tell me the truth about it if I didn't come to question you today."

Grace had been a mysterious figure from the start. Ever since they met for the first time, Kevin believed that the lady was not a simple person. That was why he questioned her relationship with his mother before, but the lady ended up lying to him.

And now that he had revealed the truth about it, he became more curious about the short-haired lady.

However, it seemed that Grace didn't have any intention to answer his curiosity as she said, "I indeed lied to you, but I have my reason for it.. But, if you are curious about me, why don't you continue asking your parents about me? I'm sure they will be able to give you more information."
