The CEO's Lovely Wife

"I'm sorry, sir, but I think I must have heard you wrong. Can you repeat what you had just said?" Director Hong, the one who had just woke up from his faint, asked.

Lexus looked at the still sitting Director Hong on the floor with his piercing eyes. However, he did not get angry at this. In fact, he thought that it was just natural to ask about it again. 

"I said, what would I do, the husband, do during my wife's pregnancy check-up?" Lexus reiterated patiently. He then scanned the people before him silently and waited for them for answer him.

"You are the husband and you have a wife?" The Director of the Production Department asked this with a frown on his aged face. He was feeling doubtful at his own hearing. Was he getting too old that he had just heard that his boss had a wife who was pregnant?

Lexus almost rolled his eyes at this but still nodded his head, "Yes."

"Boss, you had a wife?" Another director who was a bit on the younger side compared to the other directors who were already in their mid-fifties. He was looking at Lexus with wide eyes full of doubt.

But this was also what the other directors' minds were mulling over with, clearly not believing what they were hearing from their boss' mouth. It was just too unbelievable. 

They thought that Lexus was someone who would never bat an eye in the presence of a beautiful woman. Heck, they would even vouch that Lexus hates women. But now he was saying that he had a wife and she was already pregnant? Was this a joke?!

Lexus' eyes started to darken and the air around them turned cold. Fortunately, he was able to control himself and still answered, "Yes. I already said that already."

"..." Silence. Just complete silence. 

Lexus was now getting annoyed at the lack of their response. He trusted these directors. Also, they were also already a father so they had knowledge in this kinds of things, right? 

Why ask his directors when he could just ask his own father? Ha! As if that father of his was a reliable person who could give a normal answer. No. His father was just an abnormal one. 

Lexus was still thinking that he himself was normal when, in total fact, he was almost exactly like his father: crazy in love with his wife.

"Master, who's your wife?" The director of the Sampling Department asked. He was a father of two children, as what Lexus had remembered.

"Didn't I already invite you on my wedding two weeks ago?" Lexus snapped, the nerve on his head started to pulsate. Their lack of response was starting to get on his nerves. However, this was for the sake of being a proper husband and diligently accompany his wife during her check-up. So he would endure their foolishness. But one thing was sure, it was hard trying to keep his cool because of their stupidity.

At his annoyed response, their was an "oh" sound that came from his subordinates as realization hit them. He nodded at this. Then, whispers between directors and assistant directors started to ensue. 

"I thought that was someone else." One assistant director said.

"Yeah. I even thought that the groom was just someone who looked exactly like our CEO. I was so shocked." A director across chimed in. Some only nodded, showing that that was also what they had thought.

"Still, the bride was really beautiful." 

"Yes. Wait! If I remember correctly, she's the assistant director of Halo Company."

"Oh. I saw the head of the He Family talking closely with the bride. I think she had some sort of connection with him." A sharper one commented as he started to connect the dots. 

"Yes, that's what I thought too." 

"Hold on. Didn't our boss just said that he was going to accompany his wife for a prenancy check-up? But didn't they had just returned from their honeymoon?"

"That's true. Isn't it too early to know that the wife is pregnant?" 

The directors and assistant directors were talking in a whisper but even their voices were soft, Lexus was still able to hear them although not that clearly but it was enough for him to know the idea of their conversation.

Assistant Yu was also feeling angry at this. He was not expecting that they would start gossiping in the face of the person they were talking about. Was this because of their nervousness starting to wear off and had for a moment numb their awareness that they got some guts to gossip. 

With cold sweat trailing down his back, Assistant Yu adjusted his collar because he felt like it was tightening up, or so he thought. He then glared at the directors and assistant directors, hoping that they would notice his warning because he could feel the murderous aura coming from his boss whose face was dark as coal. 

Assistant Yu did not dare take a look at his boss any longer because he felt like he saw a demon's shadow shadow behind his boss. Or was that his boss himself? He does not know for sure because he felt like if he would look at his boss again, he would be killed. 

Thankfully, the directors and assistant directors noticed the tremendous drop of the temperature in the meeting room. Their eyes then flashed in alarm and awareness as their body broke out in cold sweats and shuddered at the overbearing and heavy air around them.

Good heavens! They had just dug their own graves, right? Yes, a very deep deeeeeeep grave they think they can't crawl up at all. 

"I'm already married a long time ago and had just had that ceremony weeks ago." Lexus said as to clear up some things in order to not put dirt on his wife. 

"By "a long time," how many years was it already, master?" The assistant director of the Quality Control Department asked after wiping the perspiration on his forehead.

"More than a month ago already." Lexus proudly answered. There was even a smug smile on his handsome face, making him look warm and dazzling. 

It was really a sight to see that even the directors and assistant directors were not able to help but blush at the beauty of their boss. They were males! They were straight strong men but they just had their hearts skipped a beat for their male boss?! 

They felt like slapping their faces at their horrying feelings. 

'But "more than a month"? That was long? Seriously?! That's not long at all, ah!' They exclaimed in their minds and looked at the proud look on their boss' face. But seeing this kind of expression on their usually fierce and bitingly cold face of their boss was somehow pleasant to see. Honestly, they were relieved to know that their boss was really a human being and not demon in disguise.

Although they wanted to say something about this, they bit their tongue and swallowed their words back into their throats. They don't have the heart to ruin that smile on his face. 

Director Lin was the first one to regain his bearing as he cleared his throat and a small warm smile was on his face. "Well, with your question before, Master, the husband really doesn't have to do anything other than just being there for your wife during her check-up." 

Lexus looked at Director Lin with cold eyes. Clearly, he does not believe what Director Lin had just said. Of course, Director Lin understood him and chuckled helplessly. 

"Master, there really is nothing to do during the check-up. Moral support is the only thing you could do at that time." An assistant director voiced out his thoughts. He was a man in his forties and had only one son.

"Yes, your presence there is enough." Someone added.

Because of their insistence, Lexus had to accept their answer even though he does not believe it entirely. 

"On that note, master. Congratulations on your first child." Director Hong smilingly said this in all sincerity. It was as if he was not that same person who had just fainted in fright just a while ago.

After that, the rest of the directors and assistant directors said their congralutaions to their master.
