The CEO's Lovely Wife

Despite burrying herself with her work and even making sure to quickly and surely review all of the proposals forwarded to her, the two weeks worth of papers and doc.u.ments on her table did not cut in half. October looked at the pile of untouched papers and on the stock of papers she had finished, the thought of finishing these today looked grim. 

"I did not expect for this to happen. Was my work always this tiring?" October felt a headache emerged and pinched her nose. She felt tired. Also, she wanted to sleep. 

For the first time, October had felt the heaviness of her body and the pressure she put on herself was getting heavier. She had never experienced to have so much backlog before and even thought if her two-week vacation was worth it.

But then she shook her head as soon as this thought crossed her mind. She does not want to think that the time she spent with Lexus was a waste of time because she knew that she was not the only person who has work for Lexus was also such a busy man who owns and runs his own company. And so, she forced herself to straighten her back and flex her neck from side to side then back to front. 

"No. This won't do." She said to herself. She has to do this fast. Any more delay might affect the company and the partnered companies. 

The rythmic tapping of the keyboard was then heard again in the spacious office of October. There was an occasional pausing and flippings of the pages and a tossing sound. This continued for the whole of afternoon. 

It was still Monday and yet October was already trying to finish half of her piled up work in the least. She had the need to finish this because of her appointment she made for her first check-up the day after tomorrow. She has to make time. 

Suddenly, her phone rang. October did not bother to answer her phone but it seemed like the caller was someone who was persistently and patiently waiting for her to pick up the phone. She paused her work and sighed deeply. She does not want to be disturbed right now. 

"October Park, speaking. What can I help you?" She asked. Even though she was tired, she still sounded professional. 

"Park?" A cold and  gruffy voice that sent tingles in her ear and travelled down her arms and spine sounded on the other end of the phone. At the sound of his voice, October's closed eyes shot open, becoming bright and alert. 

"Lex." 

That's right. It was Lexus, her outstandingly handsome husband with spicy cold ruthlessness which she deemed really attractive. She then heard him clicked his tongue as if a little annoyed at something. Her brows furrowed in confusion as to why he was irritated. 

"You are no longer "Park." Don't address yourself like that anymore. You already carry my name, okay? You are Lanna October Song. You are my wife. Understand?" 

October was not able to think immediately at this moment and found her unable to talk. Fortunately, it did not take that long for her face to turn crimson red and her eyes wavered. 

"Yes, I understand." She said, nodding her head. Somehow, she find it cute that Lexus would even bother to be angry over such little thing. And she liked it. 

"Good. However, you seemed tired." Lexus pointed out with worry in his voice. He leaned on his chair and tapped a finger on his armrest. 

"I'm okay. Just making sure to finish my work faster." 

"There's no need for you to force yourself into working that. Are those you are working past their deadlines? Are those urgent?"

"There are only a few. The rest are not that urgent." She saidand bit her lip, trying to downplay things lest Lexus will be worried. 

But how could Lexus not worry? Even if a tiny bit of wrong will happen to October, Lexus would fly into rage. 

"You do know that I worry about you, right?"

"Yes."

"And you know that I care for you and I love you, right?"

"...Yes."

"Do you know that my heart will ache just knowing that you are far from me and that I miss you so bad that it is making me crazy?"

"..." October almost choked at this as the blush on her face got worse. She felt uncomfortable and happy at the same time.

"Since you know that, just take care of yourself." Lexus said, did not feel that the sweet words he had just spouted were embarassing. He did not even bat an eye and blush on his words. For him, he was just telling his wife the feelings he had and how much she occupies most of his brain. 

Assistant Yu who was in the office of the CEO heard this and he felt so embarrassed at his boss' own overly sweet words that he just could not stop himself from blushing. He could still not believe that the person before him and spouting this loving words was the same to the cold and merciless young master he had known just a few months ago.

He was amazed at how "love" could affect and change a person. It was really such a miracle. He looked at his boss and his young master with overwhelming emotions and his eyes started to water. 

Assistant Yu looked like a mother who had just heard his child saw his first word. He was really glad that his young master had met the young madam. 

"Yes." October answered, her head lowered, feeling a little guilty.

"Good." He nodded, although still not completely assured, he was at least satisfied with her answer. 

"If something bad will happen to you again..." Lexus mumbled softly and the glint in his eyes was dangerous and the air around him plummeted to zero degrees. 

When Assistant Yu saw the dark look on his young master's face and the temperature drop in the room, he already knew what will happen if something bad will happen to the young madam: hell will surface on earth. 

Assistant Yu shuddered in horror and sincerely hoped to the heavens that nothing will to his young madam.
