#13 - Gwen's plan to win Mary Jane

“Ugh, Habby, you always say such cliché things.” Gwen rolled her eyes at Yang Le, then took her lunch and walked towards the rest of her band.

“By the way, have you guys decided on a name for the band?” Yang Le asked.

“Mary Janes,” Gwen replied without turning her head.

“Uh, is that very rock and roll?” Yang Le was taken aback by the name.

Gwen turned to look at Yang Le, raised her hand, and made a gun gesture at him.

“You wouldn’t understand, old man.”

After saying that, she hummed her favorite song and happily left, ignoring the bewildered Yang Le.

“Welcome back,” Mary Jane said, watching Gwen walk back cheerfully. “How was your time alone together?”

“Please, Mary!” Gwen glared at Mary Jane in mock anger, while turning her head to glare at the snickering Glory.

“Okay, stop teasing her, Mary,” Betty interjected, helping Gwen out, then she revealed a mischievous smile.

“By the way, Mary, what do you think of that Peter over there?” Betty pointed to Peter, who was dejectedly returning to Yang Le’s side. “He seems smitten with you.”

“I don’t feel anything,” Mary Jane shrugged. “He doesn’t even dare to talk to me, how am I supposed to feel anything?”

“But I heard he beat up Thompson from the football team until he cried, and he apparently has some nickname, called…” Betty pondered, chewing on her straw.

“Werewolf Peter,” Gwen whispered a reminder from the side. The nickname was just too embarrassing; probably only Peter could say it with pride.

“That’s it! That’s the one!” Betty clapped her hands in agreement, then looked at Gwen, who had reminded her. “Right, Gwen, you’re good friends with Peter, aren’t you?”

“Yeah, Peter and Habby are both good friends of mine,” Gwen nodded, feeling somewhat sentimental. “Peter and I have known each other since middle school. My dad was a stubborn old man back then, and he didn’t really like me playing music. Peter was my only audience.”

“Back then, Peter and I were very similar, neither of us had many friends, except Peter was worse off; he was always bullied by the bad kids in class.”

“Bullied?” Glory was clearly incredulous. “He dared to fight Thompson, who’s twice his size, how could he be bullied?”

“That’s because of Habby,” Gwen said, not even noticing the slight upward curve of her lips. “Habby changed Peter, and he influenced me too.”

Seeing her sisters’ curious glances, Gwen recounted her encounter with Yang Le with a hint of pride.

“Rescued by a hero? No wonder you’re so infatuated with him, Gwen,” Betty whistled teasingly, but Gwen had built up a resistance and simply ignored Betty’s teasing.

“Habby is such a good friend,” Glory sighed.

“I’m even a little smitten with him myself,” Mary Jane said with a laugh, and anyone could tell she was joking, except for one person.

“Really? He’s just an out-of-touch old man,” Gwen frowned, but as soon as she said the words, she regretted it. Sure enough, the other three were looking at her with smiles.

‘Oh, please!’ Gwen couldn’t help but cover her forehead. Just as she was about to explain, a flash of inspiration struck her. She had thought of a good idea.

“Okay, okay, okay, I have a little, a tiny bit of a feeling for him, alright?” Gwen whispered loudly, while secretly glancing at Yang Le, who was talking to Peter.

She portrayed the image of a girl whose secret had been exposed perfectly.

“Sorry, Gwen, we didn’t expect you to react so strongly,” Betty said quickly, thinking Gwen was angry, apologizing immediately.

“Really sorry, Gwen.” “My bad.”

Mary Jane and Glory also said apologetically. Mary Jane even stepped forward and gently patted Gwen on the back.

‘My plan is working.’ Gwen hid the expression of success on her face in her hair, managing her expression before looking up.

“It’s okay, I’m just a little annoyed,” Gwen said, grabbing her hair in frustration. “I don’t know how to face this relationship, and I don’t know how Habby sees me.”

“How could that be, Gwen? You’re so great,” Mary Jane comforted Gwen from the side. “You’re so talented, and so beautiful.”

“Yeah, your figure…” Betty wanted to follow Mary Jane’s words and compliment her, but stopped immediately after glancing at Gwen’s chest.

“Your legs are beautiful, don’t all the guys like looking at legs these days?” Glory quickly continued the compliment, while glaring at Betty. If you can’t compliment someone, then don’t.

‘Well, thank you for that.’ Gwen looked at the two with black lines on her face. Although she didn’t care about her figure, Betty’s hesitation still hurt her a little. At the same time, Gwen decided that after this was over, she would definitely squeeze Yang Le and Peter for all they were worth.

“But Habby seems to only see me as a friend.”

“How about going on a date?” Glory suggested. “Spending time alone together creates a magical chemistry. If he’s interested in you, he might act very differently when it’s just the two of you.”

“A date! I’m too embarrassed to ask,” Gwen said in a shy, low voice.

“You can just pretend to casually ask him to hang out.”

“Then Habby will definitely ask Peter to come along. They’re good friends, Habby definitely wouldn’t leave Peter behind when he goes out.”

The hidden dagger is revealed; after Gwen’s half-day of paving the way and guiding, she finally reached the last step of her plan.

‘That’s right, now all I need is for someone to say that sentence.’ Gwen still looked disappointed on the surface, but her heart was pounding wildly.

Gwen’s expectations were not in vain. Glory and Betty looked at Mary Jane at the same time.

“Mary, why don’t you ask Peter out, to create some alone time for Gwen.”

‘Good job! Private Glory!’ Gwen gave Glory a thumbs up in her heart.

“Me?” Mary Jane pointed to herself in surprise.

“That’s right, everyone can see that the kid is super into you. If you ask him out, he definitely won’t refuse.”

‘Exactly! Private Betty!’ Secretly pinching her thigh, Gwen felt like she was about to laugh.

“That’s not really a problem,” Mary Jane said, tossing her hair nonchalantly.

“But I’m afraid he’ll misunderstand something. After all, I really don’t feel anything for him.”

Mary Jane didn’t like timid people, and Peter performed too poorly in front of her. Although she had heard Betty talk about his heroic deeds just now, how much of rumors can you believe?

“How about this?” Gwen looked at Mary Jane hopefully. “You and I go ask them out to hang out together, and then you help me pull Peter away. Please, Mary, my good captain, my good friend.”

“This…” Mary Jane thought about it again and again, and finally nodded helplessly. “Okay, but let’s make it clear, I’ll only help you this once.”

“I love you so much, Mary!” Gwen jumped up happily and threw herself on Mary, the emotions that had been suppressed for half a day erupting together, making it seem particularly genuine.

“What’s wrong with them?” Peter looked at the suddenly lively group of girls in confusion. “Did something good happen?”

“I think instead of worrying about that, you should think about what to wear for next week’s date, and how you’re going to thank Miss Gwen,” Yang Le said sagely, chewing on his straw.
