#703 - Mutation
The Light Elves' castle, once filled with joy, was now replaced by an atmosphere of tension.
For centuries, due to their living environment, the Light Elves had rarely experienced the emotion of anger, but now, facing the kidnapped young ones, they were experiencing it to the extreme.
The spears in their hands creaked as they were gripped tightly. If it weren't for the kidnapped children, these sharp spear tips would have already poked a dozen bloody holes in Malekith's body.
"I'll ask you one more time, Malekith," the Elf Queen said, gritting her silver teeth. "What exactly do you want?"
Even though Malekith held a hostage, the Elf Queen didn't lower her stance. Although she was in a weaker position, constant concessions would only lead to deeper passivity. A certain degree of toughness could maintain a weak initiative.
But this was just a drop in the bucket. The Elf Queen was like a wasp that had its stinger removed, merely struggling in her death throes.
"Knowledge," Malekith slowly uttered a word. "I need all the knowledge the Light Elves have accumulated since their birth."
"That's impossible!"
"That's what we've accumulated step by step, through hard work. How can we give it to you, you villain!"
Before the Elf Queen could speak, the surrounding guards couldn't help but burst into curses. Knowledge is the most precious thing everywhere; it wouldn't be an exaggeration to say it's priceless.
The knowledge the Light Elves had accumulated since their birth was unimaginably vast, including magic, botany, astronomy, and so on. Each was very precious, the most important being magic, with the remaining knowledge being basically byproducts of studying magic.
The Light Elves weren't stingy people. They usually weren't stingy with their knowledge to guests, but that depended on who it was. Uninvited, villainous guests like Malekith definitely weren't included.
Moreover, Malekith's bad reputation was known throughout the Nine Realms. If he obtained the Light Elves' various knowledge, who knew what disaster he would cause.
Hearing the servants' objections, Malekith paused as he stroked the child's cheek. The next second, the veins in his hand bulged, and he suddenly pinched the child's cheek.
"Stop!" The Elf Queen quickly stopped him. Her eyes had been focused on Malekith and the child, which allowed her to react when Malekith suddenly attacked.
"I'm talking to your Queen. You little soldiers should just stand there obediently," Malekith said with a harmonious smile, which formed a sharp contrast with the child's terrified expression.
"You know, I'm very timid. If I'm frightened by you loud guards, I might accidentally twist this child's head off."
The guards were unwilling, but they could only let Malekith run rampant. For long-lived species like them, continuing their lineage was a very troublesome matter. Otherwise, with their lifespan, even if they only had the same production efficiency as humans, Alfheim would be filled with Light Elves in just two or three centuries.
This was probably for ecological balance. The fertility rate of long-lived species, including the Light Elves, was relatively low, so children were very important to them. This was why Malekith was so confident.
"Now, it's time for you to give me an answer, Queen," Malekith was still gentle and refined. "Which will you choose, the knowledge accumulated in the past, or the future of your race?"
Neither the servants nor the onlookers wanted the Queen to agree to this deal. Only the Light Elves were suffering now, but if they gave the knowledge to Malekith, the entire Nine Realms might fall into great danger.
But to err is human. Even the kindest and most beautiful Light Elves had selfish desires. That was a child, the future of the Light Elves. It was just a word of refusal, but no one could say it.
The Elf Queen was the same. She frowned and entered a battle between heaven and man. Malekith didn't speak; he liked watching others struggle in pain the most. Of course, it would be even better if the person in pain was Thor.
Finally, the Elf Queen's brow relaxed, and she parted her red lips slightly: "I… refuse your request!"
As soon as these words came out, the entire hall fell into silence. Malekith looked at the Elf Queen in a slight daze, obviously this result was beyond his expectations.
"It is indeed difficult to abandon compatriots," the Elf Queen closed her eyes in pain, but she quickly opened them and looked directly into the eyes of the kidnapped child.
"But the Light Elves shouldn't drag the entire Nine Realms down for their own selfish desires. Malekith, you are a collection of darkness and inferiority. I will never let you obtain the knowledge of the Light Elves. There shouldn't be any more wars in the Nine Realms."
As she said this, the Elf Queen raised her hand to activate the communication crystal that had been held in her hand, but Malekith was faster. A purple energy surged from his prepared hand and pierced through the child's abdomen, and blood flowed out immediately.
The dazzling color broke into the eyes of everyone present. Malekith tore up the ticket too cleanly. No one present could react, and the Elf Queen, who was staring into the child's eyes, saw the process of vitality disappearing little by little.
Her heart suddenly skipped a beat, and she was almost drained of all her strength. It was because of this that she failed to activate the crystal in the first time.
Malekith seized this opportunity. He threw the child's body in his hand towards the Elf Queen, who was stunned by the stimulation. Malekith, who had lost his hostage, was immediately overwhelmed by the angry servants.
Looking at the child flying towards her from the air, the Elf Queen felt as if her world had fallen into slow motion. She could clearly see the child's terrified and disappointed expression, which seemed to turn into knives and inserted into her heart.
Perhaps she wanted to try to save the child who had not passed away for too long, or perhaps she didn't want the child's body to suffer any more damage. In short, the Elf Queen reached out and caught the child who was thrown at her.
However, the blood flowed out, and the Elf Queen held the child in her arms. Healing magic was used for the first time, and to the Queen's surprise, the wound was being healed little by little.
Healing magic cannot be used on corpses, which means that the child can be saved. The Elf Queen was pleasantly surprised to heal and stretched her hand to the back of the child's head, hoping that the latter could lie comfortably, as her compensation.
But when the Elf Queen lifted the child's head, she was stunned, because the child's face changed, from the original childishness to maturity and beauty, that was a face that women would find amazing, and would involuntarily fall in love with.
"Your heart wavered, my Queen~"
