The Demon Child - Awakening
Chapter 46 - 46 - Lock and Key
Sashal and I were travelling through the forest until we encountered another massive landmark, a mountain-like object. I smiled and began to climb it, and so did she. I got up there first and summoned my chains flinging at a tree on top which I got ahold of.
I reeled in my chains and gained momentum, I smiled, but not for long. It was probably a few hours since we began, and I lost my edge, there was a large amount of long and spiky bushes, which I collided with. I braced for impact and quickly froze the bushes, breaking them, but I was too late.
I was full of holes, some even in my head and blood was going everywhere. Although some healed quite quickly, I was blinded and my heart was penetrated. I felt Sashal drag me to a tree and left me before feeding me some sort of blood.
I quickly regained my sight and saw that it was night. I banged my fist on the ground, I looked at it as a delay, but Sashal was happily resting on me. I looked up to see the moon was not visible yet, and she didn't move me far, as I could still see the bush. I coughed and she woke up as well, looking at me with worried eyes whilst she removed her head.
"Forgive me, you were sleeping after that embarrassing incident, so I decided to leave you alone," She apologized, and I was happy with that.
"Don't worry, at least you allowed me to recover, I should be apologizing,"
"At least you admit it was your fault,"
"We should get up tomorrow, let's rest here,"
"I would love that,"
Sashal rested her head on me again, casting a flame which ignited a nearby bundle of wood she probably made. I then noticed that my clothes were neatly redone probably by her, and I was just left with my pants on.
Sashal was resting her head on my c.h.e.s.t, and I remembered something she just said.
"'Love', an unusual word, why did you bring it up?" I asked her.
"..., This was the first time we've actually been alone, and-"
"We're engaged, by our adoptive fathers, Jododame and Quique, that's the head of Leben family if I remember, a 'chosen' himself,"
"It isn't just that, but you are the first person I really bonded with,"
"We were both born in different ways, you are just a clone of a long lost relic and I'm a hybrid between a human and a demon, but yet,"
"It isn't just that, I just want you to put this on, to make me feel better," She opened her left hand, revealing a ring exactly similar to the one she wore.
The ring was a greyish-silver, with a gem of what seemed to be a rose diamond, and it had a gap, probably to put both of the rings together. I sighed and put out my right hand, Sashal then slipped the ring onto my ring finger and we looked deep into each other's eyes before looking back at the rings.
"This ring is ten millennia old when the 'chosen' became an event, the survivors would be wedded with these rings, a unique pair of blood rose diamond wedding rings, as well as this."
Sashal quickly forwarded her head and bit me right between my collar bone, piercing my skin, and making me flinch. I felt no blood leave my body, she just stayed there, motionless. After a while, she let go and put her right hand on my wounds.
"I left a bite mark, this will always connect us, this means that I will never marry anyone else," Sashal whispered in my ear. "I'm sorry, but I think the moon is affecting me,"
I looked up and saw something different, something I would never forget. "You're maybe right, the moon is a different colour tonight," It was a blood moon, something Sashal and I would never forget, and it wasn't just affecting her.
I pushed Sashal to the ground and plunged my fangs into her collar bone as well, feeling a sense of relief. I waited for a while before releasing my fangs and looking at her. Sashal was so still, and her red eyes turned to the same colour as her ring, something that made me want to do something.
"Your eyes, they are more beautiful than the day I met you," I said.
"Your eyes have changed as well, it seems to a violet colour now, instead of that green, a more suitable eye colour if I do say so myself,"
"Well, you still looked as beautiful as ever," I looked into her soul and remembered the colour when I first met her, a golden colour.
"I'm sorry, that I put you up to this," Sashal put her left hand on my c.h.e.s.t and I looked at the bite mark I gave to her.
"At least you didn't force me."
I looked at the fire and put it out with my ice and looked back at her. I place my head onto hers and we held hands, that night, Sashal and I got forever closer, and now had a bond which could never be broken.
I woke up on the floor, with Sashal embracing me, I looked at her collar bone and saw it. Last night wasn't a dream, and I felt happy. She then woke up as well and we both got up. I put on my upper clothes and looked at her.
She looked as beautiful as she did last night, her eyes still the colour when the blood moon was above us. I went up to her and did something I never thought I would do. I walked up to her and put my right hand on her left cheek, before kissing her on the lips.
Sashal followed soon behind me and saw it as well. Prima was on the horizon.
When I was a boy, my soul would go to Antral in my sleep, little did I know, that I would find something I could never find in Antrite, Love.
