The Demon Child - Awakening

Chapter 48 - 48 - Truth

"A game of magic?" I questioned Quinn, "I haven't played in over a month, and that was with Lucyfer which ended in a draw,"

"I know that everyone else is on the ship, so I thought we could cut the time by playing," He replied.

"Fine."

I sat next to Quinn and held out my hands, the young prince did the same to me and we both closed our eyes. I opened my eyes after a while and saw the entire room dressed in white. Quinn was not far from me, only about a metre distance away.

"Interesting isn't it, a game can also be a time to talk, that is the game of magic," Quinn stated.

"Why do you want me here?" I asked him "If it's about me beginning an assault on you, I can see why,"

"No no, it's not that, it is just, that you were correct about your assumptions,"

I just stood there, wondering why Quinn would reveal that to me, he then continued.

"Everything Ren said it true, I can create portals with my advanced source of space, I can look into your memories and I can always tell where you are, only when you aren't in the soul world,"

"What do you want from me? Silence, Loyalty, a raise from the Blutrot household?"

"No, no, I do know about Alicia, Kirigaya, Renagoro, but I shall not say anything,"

"One question, did you pay Ren to try and kill me?"

"No, he just simply asked for a favour, he worked for me for a bit, making puppets out of rock which I would break,"

"Would you consider him your friend, his final words were of him saying that I was his only friend,"

"It would be… rude to call him not my friend, but unfortunately, he always took the form of my stupid father…" Quinn looked down at his hands, seeing them bleed by clutching them.

"So you're also that, but you still haven't answered my question, do you want anything from me?"

"Since you killed my best sparring partner, yes, care for a game of magic?"

"I will gladly take you up on that offer."

Without any sort of games or challenges, Quinn and I began to fight. Our abilities were very similar, but his soul and demon ability were lackl.u.s.tre in battle. Only with his portals to protect him, I won easily.

We both woke up at the same time and we both did the same thing, looked for Sashal. Very quickly we both spotted her at the front of the ship, Quinn giggled but I did not. Not long after, I felt some weird changes in the ship's floor.

Every second or so, I felt it change, it's like someone was stepping on them slowly. I felt a gush of cold wind behind and then I remembered. Jododam said that Lucyfers team would be here already, and there was one person this reminded me of.

I jumped off and quickly summoned my chains before latching myself onto the main post, I jumped post to post and I looked behind me and there they were feathers. I focused on sensing the aura around me, and there I felt in.

A chain came from the middle of my back and locked something or someone. I looked around and there she was, Xirax, with her wings caught, clipped like a bird. I carefully lowered her down and landed on the deck myself. She was scratching her head and laying on the floor.

"Long time no see Dyesty!," She laughed.

"Please do not call me that, it is still Dyestral,"

"Sorry, but it is so good to see you again," Xirax then jumped up and twirled on the spot.

"It's great to see you two, but where is the rest of your group? Including the man that replaced me,"

"Right behind you." A familiar voice called out to me.

I turned around and saw them, the rest of the group. Lucyfer, Abatson Astaroth and my replacement. The new man had dark green skin, he had fins with red colouring and gills on his neck and c.h.e.s.t. I looked closer and noticed that he also had webbed hands and feet, and the most revealing feature was that he was bald. The new man looked at me and blinked, revealing his emerald eyes and him blinking with two eyelids in each eye.

I laughed before I looked at him again.

"Sorry sorry, but you replaced me, with a fish person?"

"That is correct, meet the man who is more suited to water, meet Cynas, a fish demon," Lucyfer replied.

The fish man walked up to me very slowly and began to inspect me, and so I did the same back. His skin upon closer inspection was in fact scales that glistened in the sunlight and seemed to be moist, whilst his fins were red, which were controlled by a bone-like substance which was white. After a while Cynas looked at me and scoffed going back to his group.

"I used to be compared to that guy? He looks so weak, and what's with that getup? Why is he shirtless, I have fins sticking out of my back and yet I dress properly?" He began to complain.

"I do not know your background but I can tell you this, I am most of the time shirtless because it allows me to fight at my full potential,"

"Oh yeah, those chains, tell me? Are they used for the anchor?" Cynas tried to insult me, but I could immediately compare himself to a fish, so I did.

"No, but I'm surprised you aren't the main meal of a wealthy family, it's a shame they all died the next day due to your taste,"

"Strong comeback, but that doesn't mean I respect you, you'll have to earn that?" Suddenly, the ship came to complete halt throwing Cynas to his sid

"Why have we stopped? And isn't it a bit chilly?"

The fish man took notice and looked to the side of the ship and saw it, I froze the entire area around it. I quietly walked up to the fish and put my right hand on his shoulder whilst checking a pocket watch I stored in my pants.

"Seven seconds that took me to do so, be careful. I haven't taken it likely for people with murderous intent towards me, so don't even try it." I removed my hand, seeing the large frostbite wound I had left on him.

I walked away and went back to Quinn, with a smirk on my face. Cynas thought that I was some sort of weak timid being underneath him, but was he wrong. There was one thing that I was now glad about, that he had instilled a feeling of hatred between him and me, telling me that if I had to kill him, I would be glad to.
