The Demon Child - Awakening

Chapter 60 - 60 - Face

"Hmph, let's see how fast he is, my little brother won't catch up to me in his state," My brother taunted me, thinking that no one was around, unfortunately, I was.

"Let's see how fast I am now," I appeared hovering over his back, kicking him with my right shin, making him fly through the air and dent a tree.

I landed to where he was once standing and began to stretch. Ever since my body absorbed all the energy crystals that impaled me, my soul has strengthened, and for some reason, the body did the same.

The marking's that was filled with black had become hollow, exposing the skin in which I haven't seen in a long time. Looking back, I vaguely remember Shirni talking about certain stages with my markings. I was at stage three after being tortured for a week, so this was stage two.

The power which was locked away inside me has been released once again, now just one obstacle remains, then I'll be at my full potential. During my thinking, my brother had gotten up still and coughed up some blood, which went over the tree's roots. Looking at it before looking back up, I could see his stance; he was ready.

I took a deep breath in, and let it out, all of a sudden, ten massive spears of ice arose from the ground almost in an instant, and six impaled my brother's right arm. He broke the rest with his blue fire, before jumping higher into the tree, in which I pursued him.

Tree by tree, the forest froze with my ice, as that is how I was attacking. If he got too far ahead, I would simply catch up, almost teleporting with lightning. He tried to fight back, going into the shadows and attacking me with those flames.

Dodging them, I would create dents within his body, although they healed in an instant. I grabbed hold of his throat and threw him in the air, before pulling him back with my chains, which had changed as well.

I didn't need to summon them with words; they appeared when I wanted to. Not only that, but their appearance had changed quite a lot as well. Instead of an ice blue colour, it was silver, each shaped like a hexagon. They connected as usual, and I could now summon them on my kneecaps, as the markings there, which had crossed, had disappeared.

I didn't use my knee chains, as they weren't new, they had just moved to another part of my body, as the chains had replaced two of the three original chains on my back since they had become something else, my wings.

When my nightmare side consumed me, my arms became wings, so when I turned back, they appeared on my back. They were a dark purple and a fleshy peach, and large, reaching over my head and almost touching the end of my tail. I opened them, my wingspan spanning the same size as my brother's moth wings.

I smiled and bit my tongue, looking straight at him with eyes filled with bloodl.u.s.t. I jumped at him, moving too fast for him to see me coming. Opening my mouth, I bit into him, the blood beginning to seep into my mouth.

I didn't drink it, my body just absorbed it on its own, coursing through my own body. I could feel my senses heightened, my wings filling with new power, but that came to an end. They grew more prominent, and I then sank my claws into my brother's elbows.

I began to feel for a joint, tearing it out, first the left then the right. My brother screamed in pain, and in midair, I just sighed. Our eyes met, one filled with pain and the other with confidence, and at that moment, I said.

"You should've ended me then and there." My brother's eyes glowed a bright blue through his shadow, and I caved his head with a kick straight from above.

We collided with a large tree, making a significant dent, splitting the tree halfway. He was a bloody mess, but there was still one thing I had not seen about my brother, his actual body. Even with all the damage, the only thing that wasn't a dark black was dried blood.

I bent down and grabbed his throat, putting little force, but he woke up and gasped for air. I was lifting him slowly until eye level, before asking him something else.

"Why haven't you shown yourself? Why haven't you revealed your true self?" I knew something was up, and now I was in a position to demand questions.

"Hehe, isn't it simple? That was only a portion of my potential, well within this body of course?" I could feel his body heat up, and I retaliated by freezing his body.

"This isn't your true body, only your soul,"

"Well done, thinking about it, brother, but I'm afraid you're gonna have to play tag with me now."

His body began to heat up, so fast that I didn't have time to react, and all of a sudden, his body exploded, creating a cloud of blue smoke and fire, still having no heat to it. I couldn't see anything, so I concentrated on his soul, and I saw it.

I shadowy figure just jumped down, holding hands with something. It was a soul, but I couldn't see it before I realized. I was looking for a soul around the size of myself, but instead, I only saw something else.

The soul was pure white, and it wasn't there, only it's an aura, and that was larger than the entire island. The skills required to stretch their aura to such lengths, it would've taken millennia, it then hit me.

Something about the ten thousand year war was about, this person, this soul was a relic of ten thousand years ago. As I was thinking, I didn't notice they were leaving, and I immediately followed, flapping my wings and soaring through the air after them.

The mission was over, but my mission now took priority. No one I knew was important anymore, only this one thing, to find out who this aura was.
