The Demon Child - Awakening
Chapter 61 - 61 - Calm
It was weird, of what happened, I killed his body, but yet his soul remained, not only that but it was just a fraction. I wondered how the rest of the group was doing, before entering a part of the forest which was reduced to cinders. Lucyfers' work, entertaining, ash as far as the eye could see, but it made it easier to catch up.
I sprinted towards the soul, bursting through charred trees, and desolate land until I caught up with them. I put myself in the soul world, disappearing from Antral, and grabbing my brother's neck, before being stopped by the massive aura, which surprised me even more.
It retaliated, hitting me although it was physical, I was launched into the air, studying myself with my wings before quickly piercing through the aura's manifested core and into my brother's c.h.e.s.t. I picked him up and threw him away, the aura was keeping him alive, and now I had to I looked back, seeing that the massive hole I made was healed in a split second. I was shocked, keep it away.
And fear filled my mind for a moment before it changed to delight. I exited the soul world, already feeling my mind being taken away, but still, I was in control.
I made myself untouchable, hoping what would happen, and I tried to punch the aura again, this time it hit, although not as hard. We went into a sparring frenzy, exchanging blows, my arms bruised before healing still, the first time-fighting in something like this.
After a while, seeing my brother walking towards the aura again, pushing him away multiple times, it then thought of something. I decided to try it out, summoning the chains out of my hands and began to beat him with them.
During that time, I would create bolts of lightning and shards of ice which hit the aura; he would retaliate. Fire, water, wind, earth, darkness, and light, six sources, the maximum number of sources belongs to demons, and that's when it clicked.
"Wait… you are-" A hand went into my head, so quickly, now able to see it, it was a blue hand, my brother had escaped and had gotten a new body. He pulled it back and clenched his hand into a fist, my brain begging to leak out.
"I'm surprised, it took me years to urge myself to fight to that level, and it only took you a few months," He turned me around, slowly, revealing his real face.
He was wearing a white mask, with a cheek to cheek smile and large eyes, where the fire blue was present. My brother was wearing a hood, made of silk, his skin was grey, and tentacles of blue fire were on his back. Daring to look down, I noticed he had some sort of hiking boots and a gourd wrapped around his c.h.e.s.t. He was wearing white, looking into his clothes. I noticed that they were padded with white fur as well. I was in pain; he still squishing my brain faster than it could heal.
"What, s-should, I call--l-l, you?" I didn't ask for his name, just something I could call him by.
"You can just call me, Azur, like my flames, keep in touch... brother."
I blacked out immediately, waking up still falling, where I positioned myself again. I sighed, there was no one to be found, looking around, even going so far as going into the soul world, no one. Not a trace, not even the faintest aura, no one.
I took a step forward, and I noticed something I stepped on, a secret door. I decided to look inside with my soul eyes, no one, but there was an underground passage. I was already too weakened, so I decided to sit there and just recover.
I focused, and I saw the destruction everyone was making. Astaroth and Lucyfer seemed to team up; wherever they went, there were flames and decomposing bodies. Quinn was happily fighting the higher-ups, but Xirax and Abatson were all around, seeming to do more terraforming than actual fighting.
It was a while, I even saw Sashal get up, and she was looking for me. I got up, creating a giant pillar of ice, one that was as tall as the mountain on the island, walking towards her. We met up a while later and captured the rest of the guards that weren't dead yet, meeting up with the rest of the group.
Quinn used his portals and teleported to the mainland, closing it off. We were left on the island, so we sorted through the guards and began to talk to them. Some of them were owed a favour, other's didn't know what had happened, having no recollection of why they were there, a brainwash.
I'm not sure how they did it, but I decided to delve into their minds and found nothing. After the tenth guard that blacked out when it happened, I gave up, slamming my fist into the ground, and a lightning strike in the distance, I looked back at them, nothing.
It seemed that they didn't know what was happening, so I left the group, no one daring to stop me. I went back to the scorched land, looking at the door again. I sighed and decided to open it; it was halfway before Sashal told me that Quinn had returned to get everyone back.
"Don't..." I told her, "Make him send a group, and I'll wait here,"
"But why?"
"Because! I'm pissed, and I'm angry, it'll be a week, but I don't care, leave me."
She did, probably feeling hurt, but knowing that it was for the best. Quinn and the other's left, including the guards, and I was left alone on the island. For a week, I went on a rampage, and for that entire time, I didn't sleep, eat or drink. I didn't know why, but I was blinded with rage, all until they arrived, and even then, I wasn't satisfied.
