The Elusive Book Keeper

Chapter 40 - Opening his store at Parallel

Zane yawned as he turned on his bed. He tried to reach the bedside table with his hands to switch off the alarm clock; then remembered that he had placed the alarm clock a little distance from his bed.

He ġrȯȧnėd, why on earth had he thought that a traditional alarm clock was more ideal?

He got up, stretched and switched off the alarm clock. Blinking tiredly, he took the flask of warm water from the bedside in hopes of being more alert.

He switched on the music and started doing exercise.

If he did not maintain his fitness, he didn't want to imagine how painful the next combat sniping class would be.

Stretches, Cardio, Weight lifting. He used an hour to cover the basic necessities.

After exercising, Zane took a cold shower and headed to the kitchen.

His first course today was Firearms technologies which were by 1p.m so he decided to log into Parallel today.

He cooked a pot of beans. He added some fish, a little salt and some vegetables. He also fried some ripe plantain to go with the beans. He stopped it into a big bowl and took it to the dining table.

As he ate, he checked his status update.

HP: 110/110

MP: 330/330

A good sleep a day keeps the doctor away.

Next, he checked his Gnosis system panel, opened the operation platform and viewed his status.

Potential:A

Authority: Disciple

Class: Arcane Scribe

Fraternity: None

Knowledge Points: 79875

Intel points: 1178}

Zane smiled, his gains from yesterday were over good.  The last time he checked his status, his knowledge points was at 75460 and his Intel Points was at 955.

If one checked the algorithm of the points increase, he must have met someone with S potential. Was it Emeka or..? His eyes flickered to the door of his room. Phoenix should have a rating of S potential. The diary had referred him to a genius after all. Next time, he would check.

After eating he washed the dishes and went back to his bedroom.

After he opened his eyes, the environment had changed to an ancient bedroom. This was his bedroom in the Book Pavilion.

He checked the game log of his shop and cursed.

56 people visited the Pavilion yesterday. It must have been people that were curious about the new store.

He took a little time to don a calm and mysterious persona before stepping out of the door. He went downstairs and was happy to see that the store was in perfect order.

It was worth it. Two days ago, he had spent several hours two days arranging books on the pinewood shelf and uploading their prices in the system.

He left the store. Gazes soon feel on his body but he calmly put the sign from closed to open, before he returned to the shop.

He picked up a book from the shelf. It was one of the books he had gotten from the Gnosis system. The book was made of animal skin and was very soft to the touch.

'Seeking Eternal Rest by the Traveller'

He sat down and the counter and was soon captured completely by the book.

Some people were interested and decided to help him to achieve his goals. This led to even crazier adventures and meeting even more people. The book was a delightful read, it was small and had not taken Zane an hour to finish it.

He dropped the book, his eyes contracting slightly. He picked up the book and looked at the book cover and sure enough, he could see the half infinity symbol. at the end of the book.

Zane sighed. He had initially thought the book was a novel or something like that, but it was a biography written as an autobiography. Not only that, it was written by more than one person. It was not noticeable but if you read a lot of books, you can notice the shift in writing style.

A chill rang through Zane's entire body. He got up and kept the book back on the shelf and picked another book, this time he chose a physics book. Even though he tried not to think of it, he could still imagine Sekeil who watched closely throughout his life. Had he even noticed?

Zane hooked his head. It would not do to be thinking of such things, there was no benefit to them.

At this moment, the bell on the door of the Book Pavilion rang and it opened. Zane closed the book and sat upright.

******

Carrow was one of the Vice-Captains of the Dali Guild and one of the oldest members of the guild. He, along with his Captain and two others had grown the guild to the position it held today and throughout the years, he had never seen his Captain panicked at all.

Lucien was everything a leader was. His graduation rank at Amherst was number 22. He was always calm, collected and in control. Following him was one of the best decisions he had ever made.

Presently, Lucien's voice was nothing like that image. His voice was hoarse, angry and a little sad.

"Carrow, I am afraid we have been deceived. It is not the beasts that are the problem. The new dungeon at Accea has poisonous Fog that drains both HP and MP. There is no way to fight it."

"Then the mid-level poison potions, skill books, equipment?" Carrie asked. Wasn't it just a matter of re-equipping themselves and focusing on agility for the raid?

Lucien took a breath, his voice becoming much calmer. "There are sold out. Lily had visited over 80 stores here. They claim their low and mid poison potions are all sold out and not just in the capital, even surrounding cities."

Carrow frowned, "This kind of selective information blockage. How could the traders ȧssociation get the news and we won't even hear a single leak...Who..Oh.." He suddenly thought of someone that had the capability to do that in their generation.

"En. This is the handiwork of Qi Zui."

Carrow snorted. Other people with a leader class would be thinking of how to improve the nation or benefit the society. Only this man would continue causing trouble and he was not a weakling to toss aside.

His Graduation rank at Amherst College was number two.

Carrow sighed, "Captain, what should we do?"

"You need to log into Parallel first. Don't worry, I have at least three contingency plans for this kind of thing."
