The Emperor’s Angel of Death
#2329 - Black Library
After their passionate reunion, the couple, feeling like newlyweds, remained close, whispering about recent events.
Veronica lay on top of Szohr, her head resting on his chest, her slender body like a vine wrapped around a tree trunk. Her skin shimmered in the dim candlelight, revealing beads of sweat clinging to her hair. Her exquisite face was flushed with a delicate, post-coital blush.
"To think they wanted to replace one person with another, both the Human Emperor and his so-called Chancellor are not good people."
Upon hearing about Szohr's encounter with the Vanus, Veronica's eyebrows furrowed in anger, and she puffed out her cheeks.
"You mustn't pay them any attention in the future!"
Szohr simply smiled and comforted her.
After that, Veronica listened quietly to Szohr's narration, occasionally giving him a kiss when his tone turned somber. Szohr, in turn, told her everything without reservation, including Xerxes's research on the Eldar mythology.
"So that's the situation. I've spoken with Talos as well, and his attitude remains the same. It seems all the problems are now focused on the Eldar."
Veronica pondered for a moment, then changed her position, propping herself up with her hand and looking at Szohr, speaking very seriously:
"Regarding the ancient gods, the Fall was so sudden that most of the Craftworlds, which mainly handled trade and diplomacy, have very few ancient historical records left. Therefore, whether it's the Craftworld Eldar, the Exodites, or even the Drukhari of Commorragh, their understanding of the ancient empire's history is very vague. So, as you said, the most direct way to learn the truth about the Fall is to rescue Isha, the mother goddess, but that is very, very difficult. I must admit, I've been investigating since I returned."
Szohr blinked.
"Investigating what?"
"Just like you investigated the Grey Seers, investigating my background and the plans behind it. After my repeated questioning, Jain Zar revealed the truth. My mentor, Eldrad, personally infiltrated Nurgle's Garden using some power and brought me out in a juvenile form. So, it's very likely that I'm not a daughter of Isha, and the Gamorran Strike Master also confirmed this. Although he wasn't involved in the events of that year, he can sense that the power within me is extraordinary, a power no less than that of a Avatar of Khaine."
"So, you're saying"...
"I'm likely a part of Isha, or a fragment of her. The reason my mentor brought me out is likely because of you."
Szohr frowned slightly, and Veronica placed her hands on his cheeks.
"If Xerxes's speculation is correct, and Khaine is the embodiment of the Father God, and Isha is Asuryan's wife, then our meeting was never accidental. My mentor must have been orchestrating all of this in the shadows. Will you hate our relationship because of this? Will you think our love is just a manipulated game, Szohr?"
Szohr shook his head.
"I love you, no matter what. I remember our meeting and everything that has happened very clearly. These are Szohr Aleksey's memories, and Szohr Aleksey's feelings. Anyone can deceive me, but my heart will never lie to me."
Veronica gazed deeply at him, then leaned in, and they kissed again.
A minute later, when they parted, Veronica said with great affection:
"I feel the same way. My love for you is eternal and true. Even if there is a connection between Isha and Asuryan, it's just scenery along the way. It doesn't change the fact that you have been with me, protecting me, throughout the journey. So, let's uncover this ancient secret together. Even if I am Isha, I am still Veronica. Just as even if you are Asuryan, you will always be Szohr. No one can control our destiny anymore. We must act independently. Even those we once respected, loved, and trusted the most, if they still try to manipulate us like puppets, we will destroy and eliminate them without hesitation! If this galaxy cannot accommodate us, we will take those who are willing to follow us and leave. Whoever wants to stay in this cesspool can stay!"
Veronica's attitude was so firm that Szohr was surprised. He had no doubt that if Eldrad did something, Veronica would turn against him and declare war.
And he himself seemed to lack such determination.
So he smiled and teased:
"I'm really surprised, I didn't expect you to do so many things in secret."
Veronica snorted softly.
"Did you think I was the kind of foolish queen who turns a blind eye to everything that happens? In the past, perhaps I had a nonchalant attitude towards my identity, but not anymore."
As she spoke, she took Szohr's hand and placed it on her abdomen.
"Not just for us, but for our child."
As Szohr had anticipated, Veronica's sudden change in attitude stemmed from the child they were carrying, and her gaining the identity of "mother". In a way, Szohr's transformation was also related to this.
Becoming a parent is the biggest change in life, Szohr suddenly understood the meaning of that sentence.
"Yes, for our child."
Szohr gently put his arm around Veronica's shoulders, and she leaned against his arm.
"By the way, didn't Lohren say she wanted a Farseer to look at the future of the child? Were there any results?"
"I was just about to say that. You won't believe it, a dozen Farseers fainted instantly. After waking up, they all shook their heads, saying they couldn't see anything, only a beam of intense light that almost burned their souls."
"Oh? That's something. Is there any explanation?"
"Hmm, not yet, but it proves that our child is probably extraordinary."
"Okay."
"Regarding the gods, I've been thinking, we don't necessarily have to bet everything on rescuing Isha. Of course, it would be best if we could, but if it doesn't work, there are other options."
"Ha, I thought my lady was eager to rescue Isha."
"I am eager, but we have to consider reality. And even if we rescue the mother goddess, it's hard to say what will happen. I'm fine as I am now. What we were in the past doesn't matter, what matters is what we are now. Let's talk about my plan, it's much more feasible than rescuing Isha."
Hearing this, Szohr perked up and immediately asked:
"What plan?"
"The first is the Black Library."
"I think I've heard of the Black Library."
Szohr thought for a moment, then suddenly had a flash of inspiration.
"Didn't Qayaz say it was a vast library deep within the Webway, containing endless knowledge?"
