The Emperor’s Angel of Death
#2731 - Flayed Temple
Based on everything happening before him, Sorshyan boldly speculated that the Flayer Palace was actually a dimensional prison created by an alchemist from a higher-tier technocracy to imprison Llandu'gor, commissioned undoubtedly by Szarekh. However, this alchemist didn't anticipate becoming the final sacrifice. Szarekh, for secrecy or other reasons, turned its head and consciousness into the key and lock to open the Flayer Palace, and then artificially introduced Llandu'gor's miniature fragments into the prison. This would allow the Flayer Palace to continuously attract those curse particles, but because the miniature fragments had no consciousness, they couldn't allow the star god fragments to aggregate on their own.
It was a good plan, but unfortunately, there were still flaws. Perhaps there was some kind of backdoor set up when the prison was created, leading to the external formation of a miniature fragment that infected the Orosk Dynasty. Szarekh, belatedly realizing the problem, found a way to fix the loophole and transferred the Flayer's Skull to the Reysh Dynasty, while possibly using some method to seal off the Orosk Dynasty.
All of this went without a hitch for sixty million years, until the Flayer's Skull was stolen and ended up in Sorshyan's hands.
Now, he has devoured Llandu'gor's miniature fragments and has just absorbed all the curse particles from the Flayers here. This means he is now the most complete Llandu'gor, and what power this brings him remains to be explored, but it can generally be confirmed that this star god is quite obsessed with organic forms, especially skilled in puppet life.
Additionally, this Flayer Shrine is not just a dimensional prison; it's also a very strange 'space box.' The Flayers can use it as a transit station to appear throughout the galaxy, but Sorshyan isn't sure if he can. Even if he can't, it's still a space that can be entered and exited at any time, making it incredibly valuable.
Also, as a 'god,' he can now command the Flayers, but although the curse particles have been taken from them, it doesn't mean they've been 'cured.' Their consciousness circuits have long been twisted, and they are still like the monsters of the past, craving the flesh and blood of the living, only they've lost their 'contagiousness.' However, considering their vast numbers, they are still a very useful force. Using the Flayer Shrine, Sorshyan can summon a large number of Flayer machines anytime, anywhere. If necessary, he can even create a swarm of scarabs to recover those Flayers that haven't been completely destroyed on the battlefield and return them to the shrine for reshaping—
Just as he formed this thought, the walls of the shrine began to crackle, followed by the rustling sound of countless tiny creatures crowding and crawling.
Soon, countless scarlet scarabs poured out of the openings in the walls like quicksand.
Within seconds, several small doors opened throughout the shrine. Accompanied by eerie green smoke, a large group of Flayers with missing arms and legs walked out, their bodies covered in blood-dripping human skin. They came to the shrine and knelt before Sorshyan. Several of the largest ones collected the best skin and bones from their brethren, bringing them before the throne like offerings, and placing them at Sorshyan's feet, then prostrating themselves.
Sorshyan lowered his head, gazing at one of the broken skins, which looked like that of a fat man. His facial skin was completely peeled off, and it seemed to be screaming at this moment.
Red mist floated out of the newly arrived Flayers, gathering around Sorshyan, forming a light red halo, and eventually entering the skull cup in his hand. Then, the red scarabs swarmed over, beginning to repair their damaged bodies.
With a subsequent thought, a scarab fluttered before him. Sorshyan reached out and grasped it, examining it closely.
This scarab was extremely ferocious in appearance, with huge, curved mandibles, barbs on its tiny legs, and a head like a small skull. Its entire body was a dirty blood-red color with black spots, and it made an extremely shrill sound when it flapped its wings.
But without a doubt, it was indeed a metallic construct.
"Hmm."
After releasing the scarab and letting it fly away, Sorshyan stroked his chin. This situation illustrates one thing: the Flayer Shrine is essentially still a Necron tomb, probably using some kind of technological means to completely separate it from real space and turn it into a dimensional prison, but the facilities and constructs inside are still there.
However, judging from the appearance of these scarabs, they are different from ordinary tomb scarabs, probably due to long-term exposure to the Flayers, causing mutations, just like these Flayers.
Then what about other constructs?
Subsequently, he thought of the elusive tomb wraiths and summoned them with a thought.
The next moment, dozens of eerie figures emerged from the ground and ceiling around the throne—like the tomb scarabs, they had also turned a dirty blood-red color and were even more ferocious. Their claws had become extremely large, their backs were highly arched with sharp bone spurs, their serpentine bodies were covered in sharp barbs, and their tails had become cross-shaped claws that constantly opened and closed.
After pondering for a moment, Sorshyan guessed that these constructs might be some kind of defense mechanism to prevent non-Flayers from entering, but after prolonged corruption, these constructs had also become slaves of Llandu'gor.
Truly, cleverness invites disaster.
After letting the tomb wraiths leave, Sorshyan looked at the skull cup in his hand, examining it carefully. He was certain that this was the skull he had seen on the ship, only the upper half had been modified into a cup, and there was a shallow layer of red liquid at the bottom.
Sorshyan smelled these liquids, but felt nothing. Then he reached out a finger and touched it, discovering that it was not a liquid.
Associating it with the red energy that appeared on the Flayers just now, Sorshyan guessed that this might be the concrete manifestation of the curse particles, meaning that if this cup was filled, would it mean that he had collected all of Llandu'gor's fragments?
But was this really a good thing?
Recalling the gloomy, sneering self he had just seen, Sorshyan wasn't so sure.
At this moment, new Flayers entered the shrine. Sorshyan stood up from the throne, stepping through the prostrate Flayer cluster on broken bones and flesh. The newly arrived Flayers raised wet flesh and internal organs, roaring rhythmically, as if celebrating the resurrection of their god. But Sorshyan ignored their mad roars and the bloody hearts, livers, spleens, lungs, and kidneys, as well as the decaying skin fragments, and walked all the way to the wall, staring at the open wormhole gate.
He wanted to try if he could use the Flayer Shrine to teleport around like the Flayers.
