The Emperor’s Angel of Death
#2732 - Palace of the Dead
Staring for a moment, Soshjan reached out towards the wormhole.
When he felt himself come into contact with another world, he boldly stepped inside—if any tech-priest were present, they would consider it suicide, because no Necron would walk into an unfamiliar wormhole, the chaotic dimensional space is sometimes even more dangerous than the Warp, and a slight carelessness could result in eternal exile into a time rift unknown to anyone.
Of course, Soshjan was fearless in his ignorance, he felt that his abilities were enough to deal with any spatial problems.
"Hmm?"
Stepping out of the wormhole, Soshjan was stunned, he was in what seemed to be a Necron tomb hall, surrounded by worn and collapsed black stone statues and pillars, and many hunched Flayed Ones were wandering in the shadows, when they saw him, they all knelt down and worshipped.
A tomb, this was not where he wanted to be, he wanted to try to return directly to the Natesan star system or some familiar place.
So he turned his head, raised the skull cup in his hand and gently turned it, and a wormhole appeared—he didn't know what use there was in turning it like this, he just instinctively felt that it might be like this, or maybe not, it was simply his "thought" that let him go back, but just as he thought before, his thinking was always that of a mortal, and his thoughts were easily reflected in his behavior.
When he returned to the Flayer Shrine, he changed another door, this time before he went in, what he thought was Natesan IV
"Here again?"
But as soon as he walked out of the wormhole, he found himself still in the original tomb, just in a different location, the reason he recognized it as a tomb was because he saw the same symbols, meaning it was the same dynasty.
Then he returned to the Flayer Shrine and walked out again.
He tried it ten times, and he could only come to this tomb.
"Strange... Am I trapped?"
It was at this time that Soshjan suddenly realized that he had not come to the Flayer Shrine with his consciousness, he had come here in his entirety, but how to go back...
He didn't seem to know.
In order to figure out the situation, Soshjan chose to go deep into this Necron tomb to see what was going on.
As he searched for the exit, many Flayed Ones also staggered out from all directions, following behind him, holding up withered bones, skins and other objects, as if holding up flags, and even drumming their bodies with bones, making a chaotic rhythm that looked like a celebratory parade.
Soshjan was not in the mood to care about the Flayed Ones who were "escorting" him, he left the hall and entered a passage, the passage was straight and regular, the long stairs went all the way down and then rose again at a right-angle turn.
Along the steps all the way up, Soshjan soon came to a semi-open-air hall, where each pillar was thicker than his body, the pillars extended to the top of the hundreds of meters high dome, from the converging structure of the dome, this is likely to be a pyramid-shaped building, the four sides of the building have four skylights, through which you can see the dark night sky and stars.
But more bizarrely, there were no statues in the hall, only skulls, rows and rows of skulls piled up against the walls, countless empty eye sockets staring at Soshjan.
For normal humans, such a scene may be frightening, but Soshjan was used to it, but if he remembered correctly, Necrons should not have a skull worship culture.
Passing through this pyramid hall full of skulls, Soshjan came to a corridor paved with bones, various huge spines even piled up into an arch, and overhead were rib cages hanging like lanterns.
On both sides, there were thousands of artificially assembled skeletons kneeling on both sides of the walkway, many of them even pieced together from the bones of different creatures, although crude, but the posture was very uniform, all with their heads lowered and their hands on the ground, as if welcoming the arrival of a god—
In a sense, it was indeed so.
Soshjan originally thought that all the skeletons were from very ancient times, until he passed an unfinished skeleton, its left half of the chest cavity, including the first to eighth plate-like ribs were covered with a thick layer of congealed blood clots, and Soshjan was no stranger to the structure of these ribs.
Because only Astartes have this kind of plate-like ribs, which made Soshjan narrow his eyes slightly.
Then he retracted his gaze and looked at the end of the corridor, where countless skeletons formed a doorway leading to the next area.
As he walked past, he heard chanting echoing from within the door.
"Let me see what's going on."
Pressing his hand on the bone-covered door, Soshjan exerted a sudden force, and with a crash, countless bones collapsed, some of which turned directly into dust because of the long time.
At the same time, the chanting turned into howling.
Soshjan strode out of the fog formed by bone dust, and before him was a very large palace, even larger and more magnificent than the bridge of the previous tomb ship.
Huge braziers surrounded a central corridor, the braziers burned with strange blue flames, and the fuel was bones, the floor here was covered with filth, countless Flayed Ones knelt on the ground, at the end of the palace was an altar, on which countless blood and peeled skins were used to build a twisted idol dozens of meters high, roughly the image of Llandu'gor in the Flayed Ones' crazy world.
A dozen things much taller than ordinary Flayed Ones, draped in complete human skin, hunchbacked and bowed before the statue of the Star God, chattering and chanting some kind of prayer.
Behind the flesh and blood idol was a huge Eternity Gate, the gate stood on wide steps, its black stone frame was well preserved, as if it were just carved stone, and it led to a throne, a huge throne decorated with碎骨 and broken skin, on which sat a Necron.
One, a Necron who looked normal.
This was a Necron Overlord, wearing a towering spiked golden crown, his figure was taller than an Astartes, dark golden patterns covered his jewel-encrusted noble body, an emerald green tassel cloak wrapped half of his body, and his right hand held a double-headed void blade, his left hand casually resting on the armrest of the throne, this hand had a mutation similar to that of a Flayed One, the fingers had become huge sharp claws, and even the edges had ominous black flashes.
As Soshjan walked step by step to the main road in the middle of the hall, the creature suddenly looked up, as if aware of the other party, evil eyes glowing in the shadows.
"Greetings, Emissary of the Divine."
Because he had not spoken for nearly ten million years, the voice of this Necron Overlord was like the grating of rusted metal against each other, harsh and vague.
