The Emperor’s Angel of Death
#2734 - Mad King and Hysterical People
"Rise."
Sotharion said in a slow voice, drawing a circle in the air with the skull cup, and a wormhole appeared.
"Follow me."
Sotharion turned and walked in. The massive Valgul took the cloak sewn from countless fresh faces from a close aide and draped it over his back, then quickly dove into the wormhole.
"This is my eternal temple, Valgul, the Bone Lord. Countless lost believers will gather here. You can recruit them here, or obtain some useful information. I must deal with the long war with my fallen brothers and cannot be present at all times. You are my spokesperson and must always remember the honor and virtue of the Necron warriors, respect the strong, and have mercy on the weak, only doing what must be done."
Although these words sounded strange coming from his mouth, especially to a deformed Flayer King, he wanted to minimize the destructive power of these Flayers as much as possible. If he could stop them, or reduce the frequency of their attacks on humans, Sotharion felt it would be worth it.
Valgul immediately knelt at Sotharion's feet.
"Your humble servant will never forget!"
Sotharion turned and sat back on the throne, looking at Valgul. He had many questions for him, but the hope wasn't high, as he could already see that this guy's mind seemed to be completely gone.
"Valgul, how did you lead your people in the past?"
"My Lord..."
Valgul seemed a little nervous, the huge claws rubbing against each other, making a sharp sound.
"The kingdom's land is barren, and the climate is very abnormal. My people lack food and clothing. I can only lead them to 'borrow' some food and clothing, and occasionally fight for those fallen ones in exchange for rewards, but the food always runs out too quickly, too quickly..."
"So you can still lead them to fight? How do you travel to other worlds?"
"Warships, fleets can bring the kingdom's expeditionary forces anywhere."
"You still have fleets under your command? What about the crew?"
"Reporting to my Lord, there are Black Sail Captains and ship souls. They don't need crew. They can rely on the elves to control and maintain the warships."
Sotharion rubbed his forehead with his fingers. It was a bit tiring to communicate with this madman. He could only roughly guess that the Flayer Kingdom's warships might have implemented some kind of automation program, relying on constructs to control the ships.
"How many people and warships do you have under your command now?"
"People... the whole country... there are 1, 2, 3, 4..."
Seeing Valgul start counting his claws, Sotharion almost laughed out of anger. He had originally hoped to get a powerful tool, but now he was given a guy with a brain problem.
"Forget it, forget it, don't count. Just pretend I didn't ask. A tomb world has a maximum of about a hundred thousand, right? Valgul, you are relatively close to the Sautekh Dynasty. Have you had any dealings with them?"
"Sautekh... a group of hypocrites who like to boast, the most cowardly and arrogant group among the fallen ones."
Valgul almost gnashed his teeth as he introduced them to Sotharion.
"Imotekh is just a usurper and a thief, stealing the power of the dynasty's pharaoh. He only deserves to be surrounded by flattering clowns, dressing himself up as the protagonist in a farce!"
"I'm asking you, have you ever fought them?"
Hearing the anger in Sotharion's voice, Valgul quickly prostrated himself, letting the cloak cover him. As it trembled, the faces of different races on the cloak seemed to be screaming and twitching.
"Reporting to my Lord, there have been no direct conflicts. Because the number of my people is still not enough... I have only conquered a few worlds of unbelievers and spent most of my time collecting food..."
Sotharion looked at this Flayer King. He guessed that when this guy was still "normal," he would deliberately control his Flayers from attacking Sautekh. This shows that he is just crazy, but at least not stupid, and still useful.
In fact, he had another very important question, but he didn't know how to ask it—why he was always sent to Drazak every time he used a wormhole teleport.
After thinking for a while, he decided to change his wording.
"Loyal servant, do your people usually hunt on their own?"
"Yes, they are very hardworking people. Soldiers will lead the militia through the sacred crimson tunnels to hunt for food."
"How do they determine where they will go?"
"This... this is all thanks to your grace. The blood of enemies guides the crimson tunnels to hunting grounds full of prey. My people most often eat a kind of tailless ape, and a kind of green-fanged beast, but they are much more dangerous than the tailless apes, second only to those huge tailless ape leaders. After each hunt, the soldiers will also bring the wounded back the same way."
Sotharion narrowed his eyes, ignoring the mad ravings. He was even getting used to extracting useful information from these ravings.
Even the Flayers of Drazak run around through wormholes, but on a smaller scale, and like other Flayers, they travel through mysterious wormholes—actually the Flayer Temples. But Valgul also said that they would return the same way, which leads to a possibility—
The passages of the Flayer Temples need to be opened by the Flayers themselves, and the direction of the passages they open are determined by their "purpose." And because there are the most Flayers in Drazak, a considerable number of the crimson tunnels here are "returning" roads. As for the roads "to the hunting grounds," only the Flayers themselves know how to go, or they can sense the flesh and blood aura on the distant battlefield in some mysterious way. But according to the Empire's eyewitness records, Flayers don't seem to appear that often. Considering the frequency of wars in the galaxy, it's obviously not because there aren't enough of them. The greater possibility is that only a small part of the Flayers, the "soldiers" in Valgul's mouth, have the ability to sense the battlefield and open wormholes. Other Flayers can only follow the "soldiers" to move, forming hunting parties.
If we continue to deduce, then these "soldiers" were likely to have unusual identities before being infected, possibly lords, or technicians. In short, their minds were twisted, but their strength was still largely preserved.
But for some reason, Sotharion should also have this ability, but he doesn't. He can use wormholes, but he can't achieve such accurate positioning. Perhaps this is related to his stubborn insistence on his "humanity?"
He had a vague feeling for a long time that if he abandoned those self-imposed shackles, perhaps his power could increase a hundredfold or a thousandfold.
But does he need this power now?
Before cracking the secrets of the Star Gods and a series of conspiracies, Sotharion felt that the best strategy was to be cautious.
