The Emperor’s Angel of Death

#3084 - War sharpens new sword

Chapter 3088: War Sharpens New Swords

Facing Tyron again, Sai Lei no longer felt the unfamiliarity he had before. He was now very familiar with the characteristics and attack patterns of these enemies. This mission of their gun array was to assist in the defense of Shi Li City. Participants also included another gun array led by Prince Andrea. As for the main gun array led by the Supreme King, it was deployed in the planet's capital, including Sai Lei's father.

The two gun arrays, one in the south and one in the north, were responsible for serving as heavy firepower support points on the front lines. Sai Lei had been fighting continuously for 19 hours. Although his spirit was showing signs of fatigue, he still relied on combat potions to maintain his combat state.

After all, the war was urgent, and they had very little rest time. The fierce battle also quickly tempered these novice knights into seasoned fighters.

The previous battles near Trident City earned them commendations from the Supreme King and the Space Marine commander. The only regret was that one knight in the gun array was killed. Sai Lei knew that person, although not a close friend, but also a classmate. His mech was continuously damaged, causing the cockpit to be directly penetrated by the Carnifex's main gun.

This was also Sai Lei's first experience with death. When he saw the incomplete corpse on the blood-stained mechanical throne, his mood was extremely agitated, and he didn't recover for several days.

It wasn't until that moment that he realized that on the battlefield, whether mortal or mech, death was the same, and no one was more noble.

Not only him, but all the young knights who participated in the mourning were equally depressed and low. The war taught them far more than just skills, and in a sense, it was reshaping their worldview.

But the battle was not over, and soon they were thrown into a new battlefield to accept a new round of tests.

"Attention to target at three o'clock."

Standing behind the collapsed first defensive wall, Sai Lei controlled the Judgment Cannon to shoot at the dense Tyron creatures, but he would no longer enjoy the joy of strafing like before, because it was useless except for wasting ammunition. Small biological infantry could solve it with light weapons. He constantly locked onto those larger creatures and was very clear about which monster to attack first and which monster's death would have the greatest impact on the swarm.

In his highly concentrated mental state, the dense Tyron swarm became a negligible background, and only those prominent units would be noticed by him.

From the start of the battle until now, he has killed 3 Hive Tyrants, 2 Carnifexes, 1 Harpy, and 1 Lictor.

Not too much, not too little.

According to the information from the instructing knight, Prince Andrea has eliminated a total of 11 large Tyron creatures since the start of this battle, including a Trygon.

Although Sai Lei wanted to catch up with the opponent's record, the limitations of the mech were here. Andrea's knight was a Crusader-class with very powerful long-range firepower. Although the Judgment-class Aquis knight also belonged to the long-range type, it was impossible for it to compare with the Crusader, which was full of long-range firepower, with only one main weapon.

Under this depression of being destined not to be the first, Sai Lei aimed his artillery at a Hive Tyrant again. The plasma Judgment Cannon swept across the ground, creating powerful impacts and tearing out feathery fissures. The groups of Termagants and Hormagaunts surrounding the Hive Tyrant were smashed into meat paste and smeared on the ground, while the Hive Tyrant used its forelimbs to protect its body and slowly retreated into the fog—this was also where Sai Lei was a little annoyed. These bugs had actually become smarter. If they were shot at from a long distance, they would retreat into the cover of the poisonous fog, and then come out again when the knight shifted its firepower.

During this period, Spore Mines would throw a large number of spore mines towards the knight's location. This biological positioning was somewhat similar to a mortar, because it was smaller in size and more concealed in attack, it would not be as easily taken care of by air power as Tyron artillery.

Sure enough, dozens of spore mines with tentacles flew out of the poisonous fog. They drew high arcs and landed around the knight with incredible accuracy—if Sai Lei had not moved in advance.

Accompanied by a strange puffing sound, the spore mines exploded one after another the moment they landed, splashing out acid and sharp broken bones enough to corrode alloy.

Although the effect was terrible, these bugs mostly used the mechanism of twitching muscles to launch their live ammunition, which greatly limited their range and rate of fire, and they could be easily avoided with a little movement.

Sai Lei controlled the repaired Silver Unicorn while moving and firing at the enemy, while observing the battles of other comrades.

In addition to the one who died, there was another person missing from the gun array.

Tasia was lucky enough not to be injured in the last battle and was still fighting. Ashili was the unlucky one. She was fine, but the Iron Maiden was too severely damaged. Even after repair, it was difficult to go into battle, so she was the second person missing from the gun array, but I heard that she was not idle either, and drove an attendant mech to assist Tasia.

After confirming that everyone was fine, Sai Lei changed his strategy, suspended the attack, and retreated behind a fortification that could cover his figure, pretending to be non-existent.

Sure enough, in less than half a minute, the Hive Tyrant that he had not hunted appeared again, and while moving, the fetus sac on its abdomen was still wriggling disgustingly, constantly producing little monsters covered in mucus.

Sai Lei was not in a hurry, but sent a signal to the surrounding troops, asking them not to attack this beast for the time being.

He had to wait, waiting for the opponent to enter a distance from which they could not escape.

The Hive Tyrant continued to advance, surrounded by the little monsters, crossing the ditches full of corpses, and crossing the fragmented obstacles. When it was about to reach the barbed wire that could no longer see much iron wire, Sai Lei fired.

"Don't even think about escaping!"

The initial shot of the Judgment Cannon accurately hit near the head of the Hive Tyrant. The beast howled in pain and raised its forelimbs, trying to block it.

However, this exposed its abdomen. Sai Lei quickly locked the position and adjusted the muzzle. With the scream of plasma, the ugly fetus sac was smashed, and the Hive Tyrant immediately lost its balance and rolled aside. Sai Lei could finally use firepower to destroy it at this time.

"Eighth one!"

A minute later, the huge beast turned into a pile of pus and smoking flesh mounds. Sai Lei reported his results with satisfaction, but at this time the voice of the instructing knight sounded.

"Knights! The western defense line needs urgent support! Everyone come with me!"

Sai Lei immediately transferred without saying a word. When the knights advanced all the way along the wide temporary fast passage, the flyers of the Space Marines and the Mechanicus flew over their heads. The Tyron had terrible air power, but now they were not a problem.

In the process, Sai Lei also noticed that there seemed to be alarms inside the city all the time.
