The Emperor’s Angel of Death

#3086 - The Legion of Announcement

"Ah!!!!!"

Saul roared and raised the Heaven's Wrath Cannon in his hand, frantically firing at the newly appeared Hive Tyrant, but the Hive Tyrant ignored him and moved quickly.

"Saul! Pull back!"

Tarsius' anxious voice sounded in the channel.

"It will kill you!"

However, Saul now only hated that he was piloting a Carnodon Knight; if he were piloting a Castellan or a Tyrant, he would fight these monsters to the death.

Just as the Knights were about to fail in stopping the relentless Tyranid tide, an earthquake that even the Tyranids could feel followed.

At first, it was a shadow, presenting a blurred, gigantic outline in the smoke.

Then, the roaring battle horns sounded like thunder, piercing through the clouds and splitting the sun.

"What—"

Saul, who was moving backward, turned his head in astonishment, but he saw the true God-Machines.

They were like gods striding out of the mists of mythology, entering the field of vision of mortals, with white and purple banners flying proudly, their very bodies carrying the oppression and divinity of war.

Saul's heart leaped at the sight of these true giants; even he, piloting a Knight, would scorn the insignificance of mortals, but at this moment, he felt his own insignificance for the first time, right here on this mechanical throne.

In the communication channel, continuous and excited shouts rang out:

"It's a Titan! It really is a God-Machine Titan! I thought it was just a legend!"

"Aieeeeeeee! Titan! Why a Titan!?"

"What legion's insignia is that? Why isn't it in the database?"

"Which forge world do they belong to?"

"So powerful! How can such a huge machine be driven, and who can pilot them!?"

Through the Knight's visual scanning equipment, Saul roughly saw the markings on them: a cogwheel and sword combination on the left knee, and a symbol consisting of three skulls and chains on the right knee.

One represented the forge world, and the other represented the legion.

The legion was unknown, but the forge world's insignia was easy to recognize.

"They are from... Zhao-Akad!??"

Walking at the forefront of the formation were six Reavers, all equipped with Volcano Cannons and Laser Blasters, with Apocalypse Missile Launchers mounted on their backs.

As soon as they stepped onto the battlefield, a series of missiles burst out from the God-Machines, and then the Volcano Cannons fired dazzling attacks at the Hive Tyrant; the Knights immediately retreated, because there was no place for mortals in the conflict of gods.

Being simultaneously focused on by six Reavers, the unlucky Hive Tyrant opened its mouth wide and let out an angry, soul-tearing scream. One limb was broken, half of its head was gone, and there were several burning holes in its body, but it still struggled to launch a round of bio-artillery.

Bio-plasma made the void shields ripple and burn, crackling, but did not harm the God-Machine itself.

The other Hive Tyrant also gave up advancing, instead changing direction and circling around the threatening prey, trying to evade the Titan's firepower, but this did not work. Flames erupted along the curve of its body, so the Hive Tyrant changed its strategy, unleashing a torrent of acid from its bio-cannons and raising its head to charge forward, trying to launch a close-quarters attack with its huge, spear-like forelimbs.

The Reavers' Laser Blasters tracked the Hive Tyrant's movements, constantly hammering at the upper carapace. Alien blood briefly flowed from the wounds, but it was not enough.

Just then, even more colossal war gods appeared.

Two Warlord Titans stepped out of the mist, both of the oldest Martian pattern, armed with terrifyingly powerful Bellicosa Volcano Cannons on their arms and two Burst Laser Cannons on their shoulders.

One of them fired directly at the charging Hive Tyrant. The Bellicosa Volcano Cannon made the battlefield seem to have two more small suns. After the intense light, there was a huge roar. The great burst engulfed the Hive Tyrant, and the hill of chitin and flesh disappeared like a funeral pyre.

In just a few seconds, the Hive Tyrant, which had been too much for two Knight lances to resist, died just like that.

But then another scream rang out, this time even more intense, carrying a sense of rage and deadly pain. The Hive Tyrant that had been focused on by the Reavers had not died, struggling to charge out of the overwhelming firepower. It was covered in flames, and the limb of one of its bio-cannons had been severed, molten metal flowing all over its body.

But it was still deadly, its huge scythes stretched forward, trying to take an opponent with it in a desperate stab before dying.

Then, the other Warlord fired, the destructive force carried by the two Bellicosa Volcano Cannons hitting the Hive Tyrant's head and abdomen. The scream disappeared, the carapace shattered, and the Hive Tyrant's head and entire chest cavity were torn apart by the blast, with huge amounts of internal organs and fluids gushing out, and collapsing in ruins with the remains.

After eliminating the two Hive Tyrants, the God-Machines unleashed true destructive power. When all the Titans aimed their weapons at the crowded swarm, doomsday rained down on the earth.

It was a sight that could make the hearts of mortals break. The Burst Laser Cannons, when firing, emitted a unique, rapid, and deep pulsation that could be transmitted to the ground, like tens of thousands of large drums being struck in unison. If mortals were too close, their hearts could even be shattered by this roar. Accompanied by this roar, a rain of lasers fell to the ground, and a solid wall of fire arched the earth and extended with crushing force, crushing all creatures in its path.

The bombardment of the Volcano Cannons was another sight altogether. The power, comparable to a meteorite falling to earth, directly turned the ground into molten volcanoes. Huge pits, glowing blood-red, appeared after the intense light. Whether it was a Warrior, a Carnifex, or a Tyrant, they were all vaporized in an instant. Even the creatures on the very edge would be swept into the flowing lava by the intense impact.

Tens of thousands of Tyranid creatures were reduced to ashes in the God-Machine's wrath, without any power to resist. The originally severe defensive situation was instantly improved, and the defenders finally had a chance to reinforce the breached parts of the fortifications.

"The Mournful Legion, powerful, powerful."

On the towering metal command tower in the center of the city, Bahram put down his high-powered binoculars, applauding while sighing. Jacob, who was next to him, also put down his binoculars and asked curiously:

"Zhao-Akad actually has a Titan Legion. How come I've never heard of this?"

"Well, this is what the Battle Leader told me. Since you asked... remember to keep it a secret. Keep your mouth shut."

"Of course! Lieutenant, you know me. My mouth is harder than the sword on my waist!"

Looking at Jacob's curious face, Bahram explained helplessly:

"Zhao-Akad does have a Titan Legion. The Mournful Legion was established shortly after the Imperium discovered this forge world in the early days of the Great Crusade. The scale isn't large, and it doesn't have much fame. It seems to be a third-class legion? Basically, it's already one of the smallest in scale, and it's deployed very dispersedly. It hasn't participated in any major battles. As for why it disappeared later, it's related to a traitor legion."
