The Emperor’s Angel of Death

#3096 - Out of control

“Going out to fight can easily cause trouble, but using it for self-defense should be fine.”

Kajon also stood up from his chair, walked near the hatch, looked at the Banshee, and nodded.

“Even an Imperator-class might not gain an advantage against it. You have to remember that the Harbingers Legion only uses Warbringers, and their machine performance isn't even on the same level as a Warmaster. Plus, with Zhao-Arcada's years of improvements and meticulous attention to detail, the Banshee... is likely the most powerful Titan in the galaxy right now. Even an Enamored Titan would likely meet its end here.”

At this moment, the sky churned, and three Harridan bugs, along with countless Gargoyles, Harpies, and Hive Crones, swooped down towards the Banshee, which was displaying its divine might, like a storm cloud that blotted out the sky.

Then, antenna-like spikes extended from the Titan's back, immediately releasing ghostly energy, like a fountain, forming a living storm of lightning that struck the Tyranids in the sky.

The Harridan bugs writhed, shrieked, and spewed acid, but their shapes, carapaces, and flesh disintegrated in the powerful psychic lightning storm, and the Gargoyles vanished in the blink of an eye.

“Hmm? This psychic level... well, it's at least a Beta-level psyker. Tsk tsk tsk, this is incredible. A psyker of this level who hasn't lost control and can still pilot a Titan. Where did Zhao-Arcada find them?”

Soshiyang crossed his arms and said slowly:

“That's the problem. The Banshee's requirements for pilots are ridiculously high. Zhao-Arcada didn't say where he found this psyker, but presumably, such a person is as valuable as another Warmaster-class.”

Amnak, who was beside him, also said:

“Manufacturing this thing probably isn't easy either.”

“Let's put it this way, according to Zhao-Arcada's Master Artificer, the resources spent on the Banshee, which is basically complete so far... are about the same as eight Warbringer-class Titans.”

Even Kajon widened his eyes.

“That expensive?”

“Yes, it's something made of gold. So imagine, even if a large number of enemies invade, can it really play a bigger role than Warbringers of equal value? Unless it's enemies like daemons, but the Storm Nebula is precisely the region where Chaos invasions are least common. Zhao-Arcada is in the most remote and desolate location in the Storm Nebula. Even during the Great Heresy, no one came looking for him. What's the use of such an expensive idol besides worshipping it?”

“So, Zhao-Arcada isn't really that interested in the Banshee anymore?”

“That's about the idea. After all, the legendary Harbingers Chapter hasn't appeared in ten thousand years. The so-called value of revenge no longer exists, and the title of Titan number one... the Banshee is something that can never see the light of day. Even if it is, no one else will know. An unknown number one is meaningless to the Sages.”

“It can't be taken out to fight, and it can't be used to compete for fame. Ha, then doesn't the significance of their project cease to exist?”

“I guess they actually know the truth themselves, but they've come this far, and it's hard to accept giving up emotionally. The Sages aren't really as devoid of emotion as they appear. After all, this is the pursuit of Zhao-Arcada's past sages. It has correctness in politics, but obviously, there won't be a second one. Zhao-Arcada won't spend nearly ten thousand years manufacturing a Titan again. This time, it's following the army to test actual combat, and on the other hand—”

Just then, Soshiyang suddenly frowned.

It wasn't just him, Kajon and Amnak's expressions suddenly changed.

Below, a sinister rumble came, followed by a beam that tore through the space between the Titan and the Tyranid swarm.

That azure blue flowed down from the Titan's head, causing the space around it to shatter, accompanied by distorted screams, howls, and calls. The Tyranids that were struck by the beam instantly disappeared.

But this wasn't the end. The beam began to shriek, and cold light howled around it.

And the Banshee's metal head began to shake, its face seemed to be activating, turning into a real face.

The nearby Tyranids scrambled to flee the darkness that was tearing them apart. They were fearless beings, with no real emotional nature, yet now they wanted to escape.

“Damn it, the Banshee has lost control!”

Soshiyang growled, and then a beam struck, nearly hitting the Storm Eagle. The gunship shook as it ascended, and the psychic energy below began to swell sharply.

“I knew these guys wouldn't give me any peace of mind!”

Growling, Soshiyang grabbed the Skyfire hanging in the cabin.

“We're going to stop it. We can't let it make a big commotion, or this will really be troublesome!”

With that, he jumped out of the cabin directly. Amnak followed suit, while Kajon froze for a moment, because he inexplicably felt a little familiar, but two seconds later, he also jumped down.

The three of them plummeted towards the berserk psychic Titan. In the process, the psychic energy visible to the naked eye had distorted space and reality. Nine halos rose from the Titan's head, its eyes burned with blue will-o'-the-wisps, and the outer metal armor seemed to be deforming.

Suddenly, the Banshee's head tilted upward at an incredible angle. At that moment, Soshiyang saw a grinning face.

“Haha—”

A low laugh echoed in the air, and Kajon's face changed drastically.

“It's—”

The next second, a psychic lightning bolt shot out from the Titan's eyes, hitting Kajon. He was forced to raise his hands and instantly erected a shield, but the enormous force still sent him flying.

But there was no stopping Soshiyang and Amnak. The two of them passed through the psychic fire rings and crashed into the Titan.

With a bang, Soshiyang slammed heavily on the Titan's left shoulder armor plate. The moment he landed, a pit nearly half a meter deep appeared under his feet, and the entire Titan's knee sank sharply.

After standing firm, Soshiyang raised the Skyfire in his hand, and gray marrow swept over like a tide.

In just two seconds, the psychic aura that was extremely conspicuous dozens of kilometers away disappeared, the will-o'-the-wisps also disappeared, the Titan stopped all movements, and its arms and weapons slowly drooped.

“The thing that came is not simple.”

Amnak walked to Soshiyang and said in a low voice:

“I can feel it's still there.”

“The pilot has probably been possessed by something. Ah, this is really troublesome. Oh well, since I agreed to it, I can only clean up this mess.”

Shaking his head helplessly, Soshiyang walked to the entrance on the Titan's back. It couldn't be opened from the outside, but when the Skyfire slammed down, the several-meter-thick alloy was directly broken open.

Although it was likely already filled with daemons, the two of them were not afraid at all and jumped directly into the elevator and entered the Titan's interior.
