The Emperor’s Angel of Death
#3329 - The Raging Bull in the Tomb (Part 1)
The Minotaurs' First Company advanced relentlessly, crushing all threats encountered along the way. According to the prior deployment, eight companies would simultaneously attack from multiple directions, using mortal troops as cover to directly assault the enemy's central command area.
However, the First Company bore an even more crucial mission: to locate the enemy overlord.
As they stormed into a tomb-like, cold, and desolate space, rows of green will-o'-the-wisps ignited in the darkness. The ship's master was unlikely to be ignorant of the invaders' movements; in fact, it should have been fully aware. Therefore, the Minotaurs Space Marines had to rely on speed.
"Encountered enemy! Initiate assault operations!"
Zheros, a veteran who had participated in the Badab War, roared immediately. Subsequently, the enemy opened fire. A gauss ray directly annihilated a piece of armor plate on a Terminator's shoulder. Considering he was wearing Tartaros Terminator armor, the enemy's weapon power was truly terrifying.
He immediately aimed his gun at the attacker's direction and unleashed a volley of fire from his storm bolter.
Amidst the blazing light, several Immortals were torn to pieces in the cloud of explosions.
However, the Terminators did not cease firing but charged forward like maddened bulls. The veteran heavy weapon specialists guarded the flanks of the charging formation. This was the Minotaurs Chapter's classic Trident Assault, also known as the Bull Rush.
"Korgi, unleash the Emperor's wrath upon the enemy!"
Intense fire rained down from both flanks. The heavy weapon specialists of the First Company unleashed dazzling beams. Plasma, heavy bolters, meltas, and missile trails intertwined wildly. They targeted the flanks of the enemy formation, ensuring maximum reduction of the enemy's ranks.
Rain-like rockets and plasma exploded within the Immortal ranks, but the enemy remained unfazed by the attacks, continuing to advance.
Their numbers decreased, but they merely tightened their formation and continued to fire a curtain of emerald green beams at the Space Marines. Some enemies who were knocked down stood up again, their severed limbs slowly repairing themselves, before rejoining the ranks and continuing to attack.
Zheros witnessed this scene and knew that close combat was necessary to ensure their complete annihilation.
"Melee combat! Engage the enemy, destroy the enemy!"
Ignoring the gauss beams streaking across his armor, he charged towards the Necrons.
To his right, a Terminator was unfortunate enough to be simultaneously struck in the head by twin-linked gauss beams. Instantly, the helmet, along with the head inside, was obliterated. The headless body ran for two more steps before collapsing heavily to the ground.
But no one glanced at the fallen comrade. The Minotaurs showed no mercy, neither to outsiders nor to their own.
The Terminator's charge made the ground tremble. The power claws on Zheros's arm crackled with electricity. As an Immortal raised its gun at him, he raised his hand and delivered a blow.
Sparks flew as he struck the enemy. The Immortal was sent flying by the Terminator's combined impact and attack, crashing into its comrades behind it and knocking them down. The ray that erupted from its gun merely grazed the left side of the Captain's body, scorching off some of the paint and surface of the Terminator armor.
"Swift victory!"
Roaring, Zheros plunged his lightning claws into the enemy's neck, twisting with force, as if pulling a radish, directly tearing the enemy's head from its damaged spine and throwing it to the ground.
Then, he turned around, claws swinging towards a would-be ambusher. The disruption field directly tore off its arm. The Necron could only raise its gauss flayer with one hand to aim at Zheros, but this made its movements slow. With a roar, the lightning claws struck from both sides, embedding themselves deeply into the Immortal's head. In the moment of shutdown, it emitted a distorted shriek.
Twenty Terminators swept through the orderly military formation like a whirlwind of death, leaving nothing intact in their wake. Their thunder hammers and power fists disassembled these Immortals as easily as chopping vegetables, while other veterans constantly extended their firepower into the distance, cutting off enemy reinforcements.
Soon, an Immortal formation was destroyed, but the Minotaurs did not stop, continuing their relentless assault.
Second, third...
Until the fifth formation was crushed, they finally broke out of this space, at the cost of losing 4 Terminators and 11 veterans.
The cost was significant, but cost was never something the Minotaurs would consider. From the moment they became Space Marines, winning at any cost was instilled in their minds, even the Chapter's survival was unimportant—because no matter what losses were suffered, the Chapter would always exist.
Along the way, Zheros had been communicating with other companies, but due to various interferences within the enemy ship, only a few companies could be contacted. Some companies were progressing smoothly, while others encountered strong enemy resistance and suffered considerable losses.
But this could not stop the Minotaurs' advance.
Until they arrived at a heavily guarded massive archway, which resembled the entrance to a dark mausoleum. The surroundings were filled with magnificent sculptures, but the shapes were grotesque aliens.
At the entrance, the Minotaurs' Third Company was already fighting a bloody battle, but they were clearly at a disadvantage. The ground was littered with bodies clad in power armor, as well as many fragmented silver remains. The ferocious Flayed Ones Destroyer Lord had been summoned back from the front lines to guard the most critical area. It stood among the Immortal ranks, wielding its massive Warscythe and phase blade, constantly reaping the lives of the surrounding Space Marines.
If you looked closely, you could see a metal rod, somewhat slender compared to its size, inserted into its groin joint. It seemed to be a section of a broken flagpole.
Seeing this, Zheros knew they had found the right place, so he roared:

"The filthy aliens have come to challenge us again, and they will fail again, brothers!"
His words elicited oaths and cheers from the veterans, followed by a hail of gunfire heralding the arrival of the First Company.
Bolts and plasma projectiles screamed out of the darkness, exploding on living metal bodies and black stone. In response, the Destroyer Lord noticed the newly arrived enemy and roared out commands, a military formation consisting of a group of Skorpekh Destroyers and Immortals changed direction in unison.
Gauss beams left searing trails in Zheros's vision. The enemy's response was equally shocking. A Terminator and two veterans instantly returned to the Emperor.
"Charge!"
Zheros did not intend to engage in long-range combat with the opponent, and shouted the order loudly in his helmet.
The Immortals lined up and opened fire on the Space Marines. On their flanks, Skorpekh Destroyers wielding huge phase blades met the Minotaurs' charge.
Zheros raised his hand and fired. The first shot struck an Immortal's face, shattering the silver face under the green light and spraying a plume of silver mist backward. The second and third shots struck a Destroyer's chest. Although they failed to penetrate the relatively thick chest armor, they still knocked it down with the force of the explosion.
