The Emperor’s Angel of Death

#3330 - The Raging Bull in the Tomb (Part 2)

"Fight, in the Emperor's name!"

The first company captain of the Minotaurs charged forward, a heavy punch knocking over the Destroyer he hit, his lightning claw piercing the opponent's head, and then with a forceful tug, tearing the head off.

As soon as he looked up, he was met with a huge phase blade. The Flayed One Destroyer Lord had set his sights on him. Zeros didn't dare to take it head-on and immediately dodged to the side. But as he dodged, the opponent's claws attacked again. The first company captain could only use his lightning claw to block the slashing claws, and as a result, a force slammed him back.

For the first time, he was so disoriented by the impact that he shook his head, trying to shake off the discomfort.

But his opponent wouldn't relax. The Tesseract Ark immediately charged up and aimed.

Dada dada—

A burst of intense sparks erupted on the Flayed One Destroyer, causing it to stagger. When the angry Destroyer Lord turned its head, a dark golden behemoth charged from behind the first company.

"Xenos! You will face me! Hecaton Mobs!"

The Minotaurs' Contemptor Dreadnought roared as it ran, its Kheres-pattern assault cannon firing. This was a weapon far more advanced than the mass-produced MK8 Absolvor-pattern assault cannon of the 41st millennium. It could fire solid ammunition at enemies at a faster rate, either sweeping away enemy infantry or focusing fire to cripple a combat vehicle.

The high-speed bullets caused the Flayed One Destroyer to flicker. It immediately abandoned Zeros and charged towards the new challenger.

The Tesseract Ark, having finished charging, also fired a devastating beam. The Contemptor Dreadnought changed its course, but was hit on the side. A scream came from the Dreadnought's vocoder, and a burning, jagged scar appeared on its seemingly indestructible hull, thick amniotic fluid seeping from the wound.

If it weren't for the Contemptor Dreadnought's built-in atomic shield weakening the Tesseract Ark's damage, this attack might have disabled it.

But the Minotaurs Chapter's Dreadnoughts were just as brutal and tenacious as their battle-brothers. Hecaton Mobs splashed oil and amniotic fluid as he slammed his grav-fist hard into the enemy's head, while the storm bolter in the palm of the fist roared.

Bang bang bang—Several loud explosions enveloped the Destroyer Lord's head in a cloud of smoke, but its arms did not stop. The phase blade swung upwards, directly severing the Dreadnought's arm carrying the power fist, and at the same time, its body lunged forward.

With a loud crash, the Contemptor Dreadnought staggered back, like an exhausted boxer, but it had not yet succumbed. The assault cannon raised and continued firing.

The Destroyer Lord let out a cold hiss and charged out of the smoke, half of its head blown open, exposing the complex pipes and mysterious rune crystals inside. Then it reached out its giant claws, grabbed the Dreadnought's assault cannon, and forcefully twisted it to the side, raising the Tesseract Ark and aiming it at the Dreadnought's sarcophagus—

Boom!

Two red melta beams hit the Destroyer Lord, directly severing its clawed arm and burning a melted hole in its body.

The Destroyer Lord turned around and saw two Contemptor Dreadnoughts rushing towards it, one replacing the assault cannon with a twin-linked multi-melta, and the other with both hands configured for close combat, both hands being terrifying power claws, like a tiger released from its cage pouncing towards the Destroyer Lord, who was completely unafraid of the wounds on its body and turned to meet the new challenger.

While the Dreadnoughts were fighting fiercely with the Destroyer Lord, Zeros did not go to help, but led his men straight to the archway.

These "Hecatons" (the Minotaurs' name for Dreadnoughts) were defined by the Chapter as mere weapons. They did not admire the culture of the "Ancients". The fate of those who survived was to fight to the death, and the Chapter did not need any Ancients to inherit any culture, because their culture was the most brutal battle.

Zeros didn't even pay attention to the comrades from other companies around him. Although more than half of the Third Company had fallen, their banner still flew high, flying in the bloody chaos. Even the Chaplain was waving his crozius arcanum and fighting the Immortals. Seeing Zeros's First Company, he immediately roared:

"We have cleared a path! First Company Captain! The enemy commander should be inside!"

Zeros's response was a low growl:

"Go in at all costs! Prepare the teleportation beacon!"

But the road ahead was not really smooth. As they steamrollered over the shattered Immortal phalanx, a jagged green lightning bolt struck from afar, the intense light almost overloading Zeros's helmet scanner.

The lightning struck a veteran ten meters to his right. Emerald green energy surrounded his violently trembling body. Then the warrior, who had served for more than a hundred years and experienced dozens of battles, collapsed straight onto the smoke-filled black floor, and his life signal disappeared on the edge of Zeros's vision.

But he had no time to pay attention to this. A Annihilation Barge appeared in front, surrounded by hundreds of Immortals.

"Charge!"

The second lightning bolt tore through the air, piercing straight and swiftly towards the Minotaurs' First Company in the darkness. The dazzling light in that instant dyed their bronze armor green.

The center of the intense light was a Terminator veteran. The warrior, who had crushed hundreds of Immortals, was directly overturned, trembling all over, like a marionette controlled by lightning, and thick smoke emerged from all parts of his body, and his life signal gradually dimmed—the Terminator armor only allowed him to last a few seconds longer than ordinary warriors.

"Kill!"

Ignoring the gauss rays fired at him, Zeros angrily charged into the enemy formation, sweeping his arms left and right, knocking away the Immortals blocking his path.

Just as the Minotaurs were trying to destroy this Annihilation Barge, some ghostly Wraiths manifested from the darkness. They twisted their winding bodies and killed the Space Marine warriors with chilling elegance and flexibility.

But Space Marines were not mortals. As soon as the Wraiths approached, Zeros slammed his lightning claw hard on the head of one of them, smashing its head to pieces and sending this abominable thing back to the evil cradle that created it.

Then two veterans wielding meltas also approached the Barge. They pulled the trigger at the pilots above, and the crimson heat flow penetrated their heads and bodies. The out-of-control Annihilation Barge swayed and crashed to the ground, crushing a dozen Immortals. At this point, the road ahead of the First Company was completely cleared.

"Adjust the teleportation beacon! Release it immediately after opening the door!"

Zeros stepped over the enemy's wreckage, his warriors following him. Then several people rushed to the closed door and placed melta bombs.

Seconds later, accompanied by a sun-like light, a thunderous sound traveled far along the walls of the floor.

"Hmph."

The Necron Overlord slightly raised his head, staring at the direction of the main entrance, the sinister will-o'-the-wisps in his eye sockets flickering slightly.

".Interesting."
