Mao Wen who was at the back said rather loudly.

Lihua in response to this said.

"Of course that's the obvious solution, but more than a few people here came to the conclusion they might not be able to get the Soul Nourishing pill. So they instead focus on the other items that might be similarly useful to them in preparing for the upcoming Chosen Tournament. Even knowing what those two are doing, they can't just risk leaving empty-handed."

"Sounds like they're trying to weed out the people aiming for the pill."

Fang Chen was heard saying.

Everyone in the booth then watched as the auction slowly started to move along to Mai Rong and Gu Jin's rhythm. What was terrifying about this was that neither of them spoke prior to concocting this scheme, they just reach a mutual agreement from the first bid to screw over everyone here.

Several items went by and were bought beyond their normal selling price. Not by several thousand or millions, but by tens of millions.

It was nuts how accustomed it suddenly got for an item going for five million at the start of the bid to be purchased for tens of million by the end.

This was all due to Mai Rong and Gu Jin. Just when the item was going to be purchased for a reasonable price they would up the bid, the person that was interested in the item would thus follow their lead and bid for the item at a higher price.

If they chose not to follow them and bailed out of the bidding war, the item would just be purchased by either Gu Jin or Mai Rong. And they didn't even seem to care, and now that everyone thought about it, considering their status wouldn't they have more money to splurge than everyone here?

However, something else was strange, it was becoming unknown whether Mai Rong or Gu Jin truly wanted those items they won or not.

Perhaps they created this situation to hide the true importance certain items had to them.

With that said, the situation in the auction quickly became rather chaotic. The only ones truly happy with this situation were Gu Jin and Mai Rong, also, the old man seemed to be equally or even more so considering the big grin on his face that looked like it was about to split his face in half.

"Our next item is rather rare on the Star BOund Continent! I'm sure everyone would consider this the best item so far!"

Everyone in the pavilion by this point was breathing heavily with red eyes. Some were even jittery from being on edge.

When they all heard the old man's words, it was like he had just doused a fire with a bucket of gasoline. Perhaps he had done so on purpose.

Soon the next item was being carried out. It was a chest about two meters long with fancy-looking carvings on it.

Strangely, when Dai Hee saw this chest his eyes lit up and he leaned forward in his chair.

With everyone's gazes on the chest, the old man formed several hand seals and then pointed at it. After several green runes lit on the chest's surface, the chest slowly cracked open.

Immediately, a wave of heat washed over everyone in the pavilion. Everyone momentarily became shocked, as even the extreme Yin Energy in the surroundings had dissipated. They actually felt hot in this cold environment.

Gu Jin who was expressionless up until now had a look of shock flash past his eyes.

"These ladies and gentlemen are six high-grade Divine Fire spirit stones"

The old man said pointing at the six neatly carved stones in the chest that were sparkling with a crimson hue.

"However, the purity in them is beyond any I have seen before, perhaps they were only several years away from becoming a higher rank spirit stone before being excavated."

Everyone's face fell upon hearing that.

"Are you saying that they're close to becoming supreme-grade Fire Divine Spirit Stones?!!"

Someone couldn't help but blurt that out, and when the old man nodded, whispers began to echo across the pavilion.

Just what was a supreme-grade Fire Divine Spirit Stone? Just from its name being called supreme-grade one can guess how valuable it was.

It was an item that would cause any power to chase after it. The basic use for it would be for cultivation, and even for cultivators of the Soul Transformation Realm, it was quite useful.

Asides from being used for cultivation there was creating Spirit Artifact from it. There was a possibility that if one of these stones were used a Top-grade weapon could be created, and it would be of the highest Tier!

The value of just one of the stones was hard to calculate, much less six of them!

The breathing of everyone in the pavilion became even more ragged and their eyes redder.

"The bidding will start at fifty million high-grade spirit stones!"

When everyone heard that, their ragged breathing hitched in their throats and their red eyes opened wide like saucers. They wondered if they had heard wrong, the item wasn't being auctioned for mid-grade spirit stones but high-grade ones?!

And the starting bid was even fifty million, this price immediately halved the people in this pavilion who were being, they simply can't afford that amount!

One person who was undeterred however suddenly made a bid.

"Sixty million high-grade spirit stones!"

It was Gu Jin that made the bid. However, this bid was not like the ones he did before where he seemed indifferent, it sounded like he was truly bidding for this item.

"Hoho, Gu Jin, do perhaps want these Fire Divine spirit stones?"

Mai Rong was heard saying with a sly tone.

Gu Jin's jaw visibly clenched as he slowly said.

"Mai Rong, back off."

Uncaring of Gu Jin's hostile tone, Mai Rong seemed to smile while saying.

"One hundred million high-grade spirit stones."

She directly increased the bid by fifty million, almost doubling the original price and causing a few people on the ground floor to suck in a cold breath of air.

Gu Jin hearing her bid had the armrest on either side of his chair shattered due to his grip on them.

"One hundred and fifty million high-grade spirit stones."

Gu Jin seemed to growl out that bidding number.

Everyone in the pavilion at this point had realized this bidding war between the two wasn't like before, it was for real.

Thus, no one made a move to participate. Not only was the bidding price intimidating, but everyone in the pavilion was starting to realize these two were too filthy rich.

Perhaps they have to bankrupt their families to compete with these two, but even for them, they had a limit to how much they can spend at this auction.

But for Mai Rong and Gu Jin, it seemed like they had no such limits.

As the price of the six Fire Divine Spirit Stones increased to the hundreds of millions, Dai Hee meanwhile was seen squirming around in his chair, unable to contain his emotions.

He felt the desire to jump up and down while Mai Rong and Gu Jin's bids continue to increase to sky numbers. This was in fact because those six Fire Divine Spirit Stones were his!
