The Legendary Pseudo-villain

Chapter 88 - A Sticky Person

"What about Raven? Didn't you say he was getting a warm welcome?" Hecathe raised his eyebrows as he asked with suspicion.

"The warm welcome is naturally over," Kelly shrugged her shoulders as she responded, "Just because he's new, I can't have him slack off doing nothing. He has to work hard if he wants to be accepted by the other members."

"Did he also agree to this mission?" Hecathe lifted the file as he asked.

Kelly smiled as she heard this question, "Of course, he agreed to it. I can't force him to take missions. You're the one I paid and not him. I can force you to take mission but if he refuses, there is nothing I can do about it."

Hecathe frowned as he heard this. This woman was proudly stating that she owned Hecathe at this point, however, Hecathe didn't focus on that too much as he found it harder to believe that Raven had agreed to this mission.

Hecathe was yet to understand that man but from what he had seen till now, it was clear that Raven would probably not be interested in such a mission that was threatening for them.

"I don't think he would willingly agree," Hecathe spoke up as he stated his honest opinions and asked curiously, "How did you trick him?"

Kelly chuckle as she heard this question and shook her head as she refused to give him a straight answer and asked back in turn, "Why would you say I tricked him? I only told him the truth."

"Spill it," Hecathe snapped firmly and Kelly smiled as she simply stared back at the man.

"I'm not lying. I just told him the truth and he was more than interested to join us."

"What truth exactly?" Hecathe frowned as he questioned.

"Nothing really," Kelly shrugged her shoulder as she leaned back on her chair and spoke, "I just told him that you'd be there as well and he immediately agreed."

"..."

"It seems that he has also found an interest in your ability just like me," Kelly spoke with a smile, but her thoughts could not be deciphered easily.

Hecathe sighed as he shook his head in disbelief, thinking that he should have expected it to be something like this.

"Then if you have no further questions, you can take this and head out," Kelly beamed and Hecathe nodded his head.

Hecathe closed the file and kept it close as he stretched his palm out forward and waited for the woman.

Kelly looked to be confused as she saw this and she asked, "What do you want?"

"Money," Hecathe stated without missing a beat and Kelly looked to be stunned speechless.

"..."

"You don't expect me to fly all around the city, do you?" Hecathe raised his eyebrows as he asked, "I'm considered to be a foreigner, and do you know how hard it is for a foreigner to live in this city. Everything costs double the rate. I need money for transport."

Kelly gulped as she pursed her lips and took a minute to respond as she asked, "Do you see me as a bank?"

Hecathe blinked in confusion as he looked the woman up and down before shaking his head and replying, "You look like a human."

"Then why do you keep asking me to pay you?!" The woman shouted as she grabbed her head as if she was suddenly having a headache because of this man.

"If you want me to go, you should pay me," Hecathe stated firmly, "In any case, doesn't the guild usually give out an allowance for every mission?"

Kelly coughed as she heard this, making it look as if she was planning to hide this fact from Hecathe.

"Don't tell me you were planning on keeping all that allowance to yourself...?!" Hecathe raised his eyebrows as he questioned accusingly and Kelly's response came pretty fast as she immediately stood up and shouted.

"Definitely not! Why would I be going after that little cash?!" Kelly tried to defend herself but the more she shouted, the more it seemed that Hecathe had hit the mark.

Hecathe gasped in surprise and his eyes widened as he questioned, "Could it be that you're broke?"

"..."

"The two million you gave me was the only cash you had left and now you have nothing?"

The room suddenly turned colder and it could be seen that the cause of it was Kelly who was slowly growing angered because of Hecathe.

Hecathe sighed as he added, "You shouldn't have gone as far as to pay me all your savings. You make it look as if I'm bullying you."

"Shut up and go work!' Kelly shouted as she took out a white envelope from her desk and threw it over at Hecathe who caught it casually with a small smirk on his face.

"I'll be going then," Hecathe nodded as he kept the white envelope in his pocket and turned around before leaving the room.

Hecathe looked to be as calm as ever as he walked back to the main hall of the guild which was as lively as always, filled with all kinds of drunkards.

He held his breath in as the smell of alcohol and sweat bothered him but just before he got out of the place, there was suddenly an arm on his shoulder.

Hecathe's face cringed up in disgust as he looked back to glare at the owner of the arm, "Take it off before I chop it off."

The man who was suddenly threatened for putting his arm around Hecathe's shoulder, chuckled as if he found Hecathe's behavior amusing.

"We are going to be working together now, shouldn't we learn to get along?" The man called Raven asked with a smile plastered on his face, however, It didn't take a genius to guess that this smile was as fake as it could get.

"I thought you already went on ahead," Hecathe pushed Raven's arm off as he commented, "Why are you still here?"

"Waiting for you, of course," Raven tilted his head and stated innocently.

"Why are you such a sticky person?" Hecathe clicked his tongue as he snapped before turning around once again and continuing on his way.

"Sticky person?" Raven followed after him without much thought as he questioned in confusion, "What does that mean?"
