The Legendary Pseudo-villain

Chapter 89 - An Interesting Future

Hecathe sighed as he heard this question and answered, "A sticky person as in a person who keeps sticking onto people like a leech even when the other party clearly doesn't enjoy your presence."

"Ah..." Raven muttered in understanding before he spoke up, "But I'm not a sticky person. I don't usually stick to people."

"..."

You're clearly doing it as we speak..!

"I hardly ever find myself interested in someone," Raven continued without putting too much thought into it, "And you just happened to be a person who caught my interest."

Hecathe stopped walking and turned around as he faced Raven and unhesitantly asked, "Are you interested in men?"

"Eh?" Raven blinked in confusion as he heard this question.

"Don't act like you don't understand. I'm asking you whether you're interested in dating men," Hecathe spoke up with a sigh and didn't even giving Raven space to answer as he continued speaking, "Even if you are, I'm not. So, stop following me."

"..." Raven was left speechless for a minute before he eventually broke out laughing.

"You're quite conceited!" Raven exclaimed in between his laughter as he defended himself, "Why do you make me sound like a predator? I just want to make friends with you."

"And why should I trust you?" Hecathe folded his hands as he questioned, "Why would I want to become friends with someone who is clearly not being completely honest?"

Raven shrugged his shoulder with a smile as he indirectly confirmed that he was indeed not willing to be completely honest with Hecathe, "You're not that honest either. Hecathe isn't even your real name."

"..."

It actually was his real name... But of course, he would naturally not tell Raven this fact.

"What? Were you a fan of the late Hecathe so you decided to adopt his name as your alias?" Raven questioned with a smirk as he tilted his head.

"Whether I am a fan or not has nothing to do with you," Hecathe's eyes seemed to have contracted in displeasure as he spoke, "And the look you have in your eyes... It really bugs me."

It had been bugging him since day one when they met at the city gate.

"The look in my eyes?" Raven raised his eyebrows as he repeated and questioned, "What do you mean?"

"That look you always give," Hecathe clicked his tongue as he pointed out, accusing the man, "As if you're looking down on the people around you."

"..."

"I have said this before and I am going to say this again but I really don't like you and I can't even imagine getting along well with someone who looks down on people and considers themselves as someone superior."

Raven nodded his head as he heard this, seeming to agree with it.

He took a step forward and with that same indecipherable smile, he asked, "Do you think you're any different?"

"That disgusted look you talk about, doesn't the same look reflect in your eyes as well?" Raven smirked as he questioned and added, "I'm not going to lie about being interested in you, but it wasn't your ability that made me want to know more about you. It was the thought that we might perhaps be more alike than you'd think."

Hecathe's eyebrows creased together as he heard this and he clenched his fist as if he was ready to punch this man at any given moment now.

"We should try to get along. Who knows? Maybe after some time, even you would start to see the resemblance," Raven added with a dry chuckle and at this exact moment, Hecathe had a sudden gut feeling.

A feeling that there would never come a time when the two would get along. He had a feeling that just like the two characters, Doctor Longwin and Captain Markus, from his favorite book as a child...  Raven and Hecathe were also made to stand at opposites.

However, this wasn't the story of a hero and a villain.

Hecathe's lips curled up in a small smile as he felt that there was some truth in what Raven had just said.

The two were certainly alike because they were both villains. The only difference may lie in the fact that one of them was worse than the other and Hecathe believed Raven to be the worse one.

"You think we are alike?" Hecathe questioned but didn't wait for the man to give him a response as he continued, "I think you're right and that's why we can never get along. Cause we are too alike and while opposites attract, same repels each other."

"I don't know about that but no matter if we can get along well or not, I have a feeling that it's going to be very interesting in both cases," Raven chuckled as he responded.

Hecathe patted the man's shoulder and sighed as he nodded his head, "It's going to be interesting indeed."

It's certainly going to be interesting to see who wins in the end.

"Now let's get going," Hecathe spoke as he didn't bother wasting any further time on the man and turned around to continue walking.

Raven chuckled dryly as he took out a napkin from his pocket and wiped his shoulder where Hecathe had patted.

"Where are we going?" The man asked as he threw the napkin away.

Hecathe opened the folder and pointed at the first line of the first page as he spoke, "I'm going here.

"And you're going here," Hecathe added as he pointed at the next line which was another address.

"You don't want to work together?" Raven questioned as he tilted his head.

"I don't mind but It gets the job done faster if we go different ways."

"Then..." Raven moved forward and tore out the next page of the folder as he spoke, "I'll take care of these today and you take care of the ones on the first page."

Hecathe nodded his head as he heard this, "That works fine as well."

"And we meet back at the guild when we are done?" Raven asked and Hecathe once again nodded his head as he agreed.
