The Legendary Pseudo-villain

The man was hesitant at first but in the end, he ended up taking out the ring and carefully handed it over to Hecathe.??

Hecathe didn't even bother taking a good look at the ring as he put it into his pocket carelessly and stated, "Now it's time for me to go. It would be best for you if we don't meet again and..."??

Hecathe lifted his head and looked at the man straight in the eyes as he warned, "You were never threatened by me here and you never saw these mutants as well. Even if someone else holds a knife to your throat, you only tell them one thing and you know what the one thing is, right?"??

The man gulped as he nodded his head with a bit of fear and answered, "I tell them that I met the great Orgon."??

Hecathe smiled and nodded in satisfaction as he heard this answer and responded, "That's right. You met the great Orgon for a brief moment and this is the truth. You have to believe it is the truth so that others can also see that it's the truth."??

The man nodded his head and Hecathe ordered for all the mutants to retreat since their job here was done.??

Hecathe didn't bother with any valediction as he turned around and left the place.??

The monkey was left alone, shocked, scared, and confused all by himself as he wondered what type of person he had just met and he questioned what the motive of this man was. Why would he need someone to spread such a rumor...???

Wasn't he trying to make himself a target by doing such a thing...?!??

Right now, the rumor about Orgon coming back to life was spreading like crazy and there were certainly a lot of people hunting for the man. To think that this mysterious man, who claimed to be a member of the golden fire, came just so that he could further fire the spreading rumor... It was certainly shocking.??

However, this had nothing to do with him.??

The monkey was happy that he was still alive after having been cornered by so many mutants and since he knew that the mutants were acting under that man's control, he was smart enough to realize that it would only be trouble for him if he were to go and try to find more about this man.??

The man had only given him a simple task and the monkey planned on completing it so that he would have no problem in between him and Hecathe.??

This was perhaps, by far, the most intelligent thing that the man had done today.??

Hecathe seemed to have already known that the monkey would plan to follow him in the end so he no longer cared as he leisurely walked out of the alley and met the grey cardigan girl whose powers had interested him.??

"Sir, d-did you kill... Him?" The girl asked, stuttering as she didn't dare meet Hecathe's eyes.

Hecathe was a bit surprised to hear this sudden question but instead of giving her a straight answer, he asked another question as a response, "Do you think I did?"??

The girl gulped as she heard the man and dare not reply.??

When Hecathe saw this silent response, he was already sure what the girl was thinking.??

"Don't worry about it," Hecathe sighed as he informed, "I didn't kill him."??

The girl lifted her head and her eyes seemed to be filled with life as she heard this, "Really...?!"??

Hecathe nodded his head as he confirmed it once again, "I didn't. You can trust me. I'm the least bit interested in killing useless monkeys."??

Hecathe was certainly not lying when he said this since he really was the least bit interested in killing another human being.??

"..." The girl gulped as she nodded her head slightly.??

"Now let's find a place to talk," Hecathe spoke and the man had a small friendly smile on his face which made the girl feel a little more at ease.??

"Okay, Sir."??

The two walked back towards the bustling side of the city and they decided to find a nice restaurant where they could talk peacefully.??

The reason why they chose a restaurant was because Hecathe could hear the girl's growling stomach and he realized that she was probably hungry.??

"Where are you from?" Hecathe asked once they had sat down at their table and ordered the food.??

"I was born in Ocasia, Sir."??

"And your parents?"??

The girl was silent for a minute as she heard this and she looked down as she shook her head, informing, "They passed away when I was young."??

"Ah," Hecathe felt as if he had asked about a sensitive topic, however, instead of apologizing or feeling pity for the girl, he continued questioning, "Then you have been on your own since then?"??

The girl nodded her head before shaking it, giving a mixed response.??

"What does that mean?" Hecathe frowned as he asked, "Is it a no or a yes?"??

"I was alone in the beginning but then the two old men took me in," The girl spoke as she informed.

"You mean the two old pigs?" Hecathe raised his eyebrows as he asked and the girl nodded her head as she confirmed it.??

Hecathe, "Why? Because of your ability?"??

The girl was a bit hesitant but she nodded her head once again as she spoke, "They said that they would help me if I helped them."??

"Hmm," Hecathe hummed as he commented, "That was to be expected. Your power is quite convenient to help them cheat. There was no way they were going to let you go just like that."??

"Which makes me a bit curious," Hecathe leaned in on the table as he looked at the girl and asked, "What is your power exactly? What type of ability user are you?"??

The girl gulped as she heard this and her reluctance to answer was as clear as day, however, even if she didn't want to give him an answer to that question, Hecathe was still planning on making her answer.??

"You have nothing to fear," Hecathe spoke as he shrugged his shoulder, "I am here to give you a job. One that would be better and safer for you than working with those two bastards."??

Although the girl still looked as if she didn't completely trust Hecathe, after hearing this, there was a visible change in her expressions as she seriously considered that it would be better to go along with Hecathe.??

"Sir, can I first ask what job you want to give me?" The girl took a minute to react but instead of answering Hecathe's previous question, she asked him another question instead.??

"The job ain't difficult," Hecathe waved his hand as he tried to reassure her that the job he was about to give her was completely safe, "It's just a little fun whale hunt."??

"A whale hunt?" The girl titled her head in confusion as she repeated and Hecathe nodded his head casually as if it was not a big deal.??

"It's a human whale and I think I'll need your help."??

"Then..." The girl gulped as she seemed to be gathering her courage to ask, "How much do I get paid?"??

"..." Hecathe was surprised speechless and raised his eyebrows as he heard this sudden question.??

"Little rat, you haven't even heard the details and you want to discuss the money first?" Hecathe scoffed as he felt a little amused to see the girl's expression and tone immediately changing with that question.

Prioritizing money at such a young age???

There was no doubt about it.??

Hecathe felt as if he had picked the right one.??

She was ambitious about money and there was something about such people that Hecathe loved a lot.??

It was the fact that they loved money more than their lives and you would be able to buy their loyalty with literal monetary means.??

It made them untrustable and yet, it also made them trustable considering the fact that they would always be on your side as long as you were willing to pay the highest.??

Hecathe chuckled dryly as he took out a white envelope from his pocket and threw it forward on the table.??

This white envelope was the same one that had been given to him by Kelly. It was the mission allowance that he was supposed to be spending on the expenses to be incurred during the mission.??

The girl wasn't polite at all as she snatched the envelope with great interest and directly opened it to peek inside.??

Her docile and scared demeanor that she had portrayed till now seemed to have magically vanished as soon as the money was put on the table.??

Hecathe leaned back on the chair and looked at the girl with great interest as he asked, "You happy now?"??

The girl smiled brightly as she ignored the question and asked back, "When do I begin working?"
