The Mafia's Rose Married The CEO
Chapter 289 - As Good As It Could Get
There were some people who would prefer doing everything right before the end of the world. But with Qing Chen and Feng Xuan, after a long day of being in line of danger, it seemed to wake them up.
There were no words spoken between the two. Everything that they wanted to say to each other were said with their kisses and the caresses of their hands.
Feng Xuan was mostly thankful that even when I bullet cut her open, she was still alive. If you would come to think of it, she could've been shot in the chest and their whole story would have changed.
She realized that no matter how good of a fighter she was, she could always die. All it would take was one bullet, or one fatal slice with a knife, or a blow that would crash a bone—it would be game over. Anything that would affect her fighting and abilities, she was deadmeat.
She curled her leg on Qing Chen's waist, pulling him down more. She could feel him against her stomach and it seemed like her blood flow reached a whole new level.
"Are you sure?" Qing Chen whispered on her ear.
"Yes, please," she whispered back, already aching deep inside. She wanted to pull him, to take his everything he could give, to wrap herself around him, to make the world dis—
"CHEN!"
"Don't mind him," said Qing Chen and proceeded to kiss her cheek. "He'll go away."
It was quiet for a few seconds until the knocks came again. "CHEN!"
Qing Chen groaned. "What?!"
Feng Xuan laughed, although her body was screaming for her husband. "It's okay," she said to Qing Chen. "Let's just do this when we get home."
Qing Chen looked apologetic when he leaned down and kissed her again. "I'm sorry."
"It's fine," she said. "But can you please hand over some clean clothes?"
Qing Chen got off her and the bed and pulled a bag from the side of the room. He zipped it open and tossed some black clothes to Feng Xuan. He took his shirt off and shrugged on a clean one. He crawled towards his wife and helped her put on the sleeveless top.
He kissed her again. "I'm really sorry."
"It's fine," she touched his face with a gentle smile. "I'd rather do it in our home." She kissed him too. "Go to your brothers. I'll wash up in the bathroom."
Qing Chen went out of the room, closing the door behind him. He crossed his arms over his wide chest. "What's happening?"
Wuming was slouched against the couch and Qing Lok was in one of the one-seater, frowning deeply. "He's throwing a tantrum."
"I'm not throwing a tantrum!" shouted Qing Lok and Qing Chen winced.
"Can you please keep your voice low? We're in a plane." said Qing Chen.
"Yeah," said Wuming. "If he weren't our brother I would've thrown him out of here without a parachute."
"What's wrong?"
"I want to know what you guys don't want me to know."
Wuming butted again, "Did you seriously believe that delusional man? You let him get in your head? Do you actually believe that our father is on vacation with our DEAD mother?!"
Qing Lok stood up from his seat and Qing Chen immediately got in between his brothers, pushing Qing Lok's chest with his fingers. "You stay seated. Trust me, you're not going to win this one."
"I JUST WANT TO KNOW WHY HE LEFT!" Qing Lok glared at Qing Chen. "You're the reasonable one. Why didn't you tell me?"
"To ba fair," said Wuming. "He didn't tell me either. You're smarter than me but how come you haven't figured it out?"
"What is there to figure out?!"
"You're too busy dating that you don't really notice your father, Lok!" Wuming said with a sour look on his face. "Early retirement and all that crap."
Qing Lok turned to Qing Chen. "Do you mean that he's sick? That he's dying? Is that why he already handed everything to you?"
Qing Chen's palms opened up and made calming gestures. "Listen, nothing is finalized with the company and the mafia. Everything is still in father's name."
"I'm not worried about that!" Qing Lok gave him a disbelieving look. "I want to know what's going on with our father!"
"He's sick, Lok," Qing Chen said.
"How sick?"
Qing Chen looked at his feet and breathed out. "We don't know how much time he has left."
Qing Lok's face tightened. "What's killing him?"
Qing Chen looked at Wuming and his brother only nodded at him. They both knew Qing Lok would not shut up not unless he was told everything. "Lung cancer. Stage four. He's out there looking for some possible treatments away from everybody's eyes."
"Stage four?! And you're only telling me now?!"
"Hey! Father didn't know either. It was just there."
Qing Lok looked around the plane and he looked like he was going to lose it—like he was going to puke everything.
"Sit down," Qing Chen said and he didn't need to be told twice. He dropped down on his reclined chair, fanning out with his hands.
Qing Chen poured him a drink. "This would help."
Qing Lok's hands were shaking so bad that when he took the glass some spilled. He swallowed it down in huge gulps and he felt that his hands were not as jittery. "H-he's dying?"
Wuming answered, "Everyone's dying, right? So yes he is."
Qing Chen pressed against his temples with a hand. "Now that you know the truth, Father promised that we could visit him after The Zookeeper."
Qing Lok's eyes rimmed red but he rotated his seat so no one could see him. Wuming shook his head and placed an arm over his eyes.
Qing Chen felt his chest got lighter. "Let me know when we're about to land."
"Everything okay?" Feng Xuan asked when he got back.
"As good as it could get," he sighed.
