111 Selfless Scrappy
Scrappy felt that something was off, as if someone took away a part of his consciousness. Scrappy stopped in his tracks and turned around, the dwarven king that was happily explaining all of the inventions his Race invented and build over the centuries also stopped talking in the middle of his sentence when he saw Scrappy´s reaction.
The King could feel the static charge around Scrappy as if something bad happened just now, suddenly his little visitor started sprinting in the direction they came from and he knew that he had to follow this little robot. When something was disturbing this little robot that brought him that magnificent impossibility of an Alloy then it didn't mean anything for his people too.
Soon the reached the corridor where the King gave the alloy piece to a servant to bring into the vault, but something was wrong, the corridor seemed empty and cold and also all the torches on the wall were put out, something the King of dwarves had never seen or ordered. He quickly called for guards and soon a dozen of battle hardened palace guard in heavy armor wielding an ax and a Tower shield came running.
They advanced into the corridor until they reached the Vault and everything seemed normal except that a hint of an metallic scent was wafting through the floor. Suddenly the King saw a tiny drop of blood flowing out under the vault doors and had a bad premonition. But before the opened the door they heard a strange crunching sound coming out of the vault.
The Soldiers were ordered to form up a line in front of the vault and the vault door was opened, but the picture that was revealed could frighten even the most seasoned warriors. A giant Beast at least three dwarves high was happily munching on what looked like a half eaten dwarven carcass.
It was one of the most evil creatures the God of Evil thought up, and even he decided that there was no place on this planet this creature should exist and so he banished it into the netherworld. But now the King of Dwarves and his loyal dozen of guard were facing this mythological beast.
Golden fur grew on the whole body except the tail that consisted of a three headed snake that could spew venom, the body of the snakeheads were covered in black scales with golden markings on them. Also giant wings grew out of the back, they were of dark red color while the membrane of the the wings had a dark brown tone.
Razor Sharp claws could be found on every paw long enough the chop a head off a dwarf with one swipe. The giant beast also had three majestic lion heads with different colored manes, one in black, one in blue and one in red. These manes symbolised the elemental breath this beast could spew in a fight, black for poison, blue for ice, and Red for fire. The Dwarven Warriors started shaking by the sheer sight of this monstrosity, and no one would blame them for that as there weren't even legends and myths about any hero killing one of these beasts, a Cerbicor.
Luckily for them the Cerbicor was still occupied with happily munching on the dwarven corpse when suddenly a Dwarven guard dropped his ax out of fright and a loud bang sounded through the halls. Suddenly the tail of the Cerbicor stood up and three pairs of snake eyes were looking at the group of dwarves.
A shudder ran through the group of dwarves when the saw the murderous gaze of this beast while their king suddenly yelled: "Close the door before it escapes! Even when we have to lay down our lives before this beast we must save our brother and sister outside!"
The Eyes of the Dwarven guards hardened and their iron will kicked in, every Dwarf would sacrifice himself to give his people even a tiniest sliver of chance to survive, and it was the most honorable thing a dwarf could do.
A dwarf could surrender, he could lose, he could even flee from battle, but no dwarf could endanger other people. The dwarf thought of themselves as craftsmen, as artists and even as the best drinkers of the world but most important they were guardians of the land they were living in and its people.
The dwarfs were stealing the resolve and the dwarf that dropped his ax out of fright had a grim face and knew that he would throw himself on this beast as the first one to atone for the sins of putting his brothers in arms in danger by alerting the beast. He charged the beast in hope to give his brothers enough time to close the door but suddenly the now standing beast swiped once transforming the charging dwarf in a dead piece of meat and showering the other dwarfs with his blood.
But the other dwarfs did not get scared, the King started trying to close the door, while the other dwarves started charging the beast, the beast swiped his claws again but as the dwarves knew what was coming the quickly formed a shield wall blocking the attack without getting hurt but they were thrown back several meters.
Even after only two minutes into the fight the dwarves knew that they couldn't win, they couldn't even lock this beast inside the Vault again, it was to powerful. The dwarven guards had already broken bone while some were breathing their last breath as they were bitten by one of the snake heads and poisoned. But what crushed their hope more was that when one of their brothers managed to get a hit on one of the flanks of this beast his ax just bounced back and didn't leave a scratch.
Scrappy was watching this exchange from the side he had more important stuff to do, he sneaked into the vault and searched for the piece of his beloved scrap. Naturally while he was looking for this special piece he still filled his bucket with all kinds of scrap that was lying around in this room. Scrappy was happy as he seemed to have found the spot were the dwarf kept all of their high-class. He could totally get the dwarves if he didn't have this bucket he could fill to his heart's content, he too would need one of this magnificent rooms to keep his scrap in, but he wouldn't discriminate any scrap by only keeping the high-class scrap in this room. To him all Scrap was equally important and precious, that's why he was still searching for the missing piece of Scrap he gave to the King.
But Scrappy just couldn't find it, he already collected half of the scrap that was laying around in this room but he just couldn't find it. Suddenly he saw the corpse of the dwarven servant and ran to it to search his pockets. Ticking scrap, get, pointy scrap, get, strange golden piece of scrap that was pinned to the chest, get. But Scrappy didn't find his piece of scrap when he suddenly saw how the giant beast took a bite out of one of the dwarves chewed it roughly and gulped it down with armor and everything.
Now Scrappy knew where he had to look, he walked over to the beast and tried cutting his way into the belly of the beast but he couldn't just leave behind some scratched that were like bug bites to this creature. The Cerbicor even used his back leg to scratch his side like a dog with fleas before turning around and look at Scrappy.
Scrappy wasn't happy with his progress at all, so he ignored the growling head of the beast and walked over to the other side of the beast and tried again to cut his way in. But he had no different result, but angered the beats even more. While Scrappy was distracting the beast the dwarves quickly worked on closing the door wanting to leave it a tiny bit open for Scrappy to escape when suddenly the beast chomped down on her guest and gulped him down in one piece.
The dwarf looked at this scene with shock and sadness but managed to close the door of the vault. They couldn't believe that this tiny robot that was their noble guest for saving one of their own would go even further by laying down his own life for everyone of them. They decided that they would celebrate this day every year from now to honor their selfless saviour and erect a statue for him.
They also decide that they would find the creator of this magnificent being and show him the respect that he deserved for creating such wonderful creations. He had to be a noble person and must be well liked and respected by all people that know his name. He must be the luckiest person that exists to be so resourceful and skilled to created these selfless beings...
