The Queen Wicked Deeds

Chapter 108 - Love Story

[Beth…

"I am not going to stop talking to him," Beth said with a fierce look in her eyes.

John was her best friend, the one that had followed her to that school after winning a scholarship. He was the first friend he made, and she had known him for so many years. He was one of her most important persons and if he were to disappear from her life, she won't know what to do.

"You…"

Henry couldn't believe it. He was used to getting whatever he wanted without a question. No one had ever dared to refuse his every request. However, Beth was the only one with the courage to go against him. She was the only one that didn't fear him, not only because of her powerful background but because of her guts.

He still remembered the first time he met her. It was when she was a simple kid trying to survive, alone in the dangerous streets of the city.

At first, he helped her out of pity, she was a young little girl, maybe the same age as him. But her golden eyes and her red hair that was hidden underneath all the dirt woke up a strange familiarity in him. He didn't know why, but he felt it deep in his heart that they were fated. Though it was just for a brief moment, and he dismissed it as silliness.

He returned to his mansion with the little girl and shoved her to the Smith couple to take care of her. That way she could have an opportunity of making a living in this world and maybe to stay where he could see her and stop feeling that closeness to her.

Every day, her eyes followed him when they managed to appear in the same place in the gardens, and he knew it. It was a coincidence the first days, but then he slowly began walking to the gardens from time to time. He was only waiting the moment she dared to approach him. However, that never happened.

The Smith couple sent her to school and the many occasions they had to see each other declined. Until one day, she was returning from school on her bicycle. Her long red hair was fluttering in the wind, and she was smiling happily.

The sight of her was amazing, she was so beautiful. Henry's eyes could help but follow her this time, and made the chauffeur of his car drive behind her without her noticing until they reached the gates of the mansion.

He didn't know what all that meant to his heart, but he felt himself craving and dėsɨrė to see her again and for her to smile at him.

However, no longer after, the accident of the Smiths reached his ears and he went to look for her desperately. Something told him that if he didn't find her right then, she would disappear from his sight.

She was gone.

He made many of his men look for her for many days, but nothing. It appeared that she didn't want to be found. And so, his desperation grew up to hatred.

He hated that she decided to run from the sadness, instead of confronting it. He hated that she didn't comply with her promise to repay the people who gave her an opportunity. He hated that she disappeared without leaving a trace, and he hated himself for not being able to find her.

Until she appeared again.

The shiny gold eyes, the big white smile, and the red hair that danced with the wind. She passed before him in her blue uniform, but she didn't stop to look at him, not even a small glance.

He had been waiting for her for so many years, with so much desperation, and she was there looking all happy.

He picked a fight with her every time he saw her. Every day, was a constant battle with her, and even amidst the many missions he had to complete for that cunning demon Mellie, he found a way to spend time with Beth. To make her see him, and only him.

He knew it, for so long he had found the meaning of the feeling in his heart. It was more than a simple like or an obsession, maybe possessiveness, or interest, it was more… so much more. He knew that it was the kind of feeling that will stay with him for his whole life.

"Beth…" he whispered when she heard her response. Her eyes were rimmed with little tears and hesitation, her nose was a little red and her cheeks were flushed. "I…"

She was sad that the boy that she liked was making her take such a decision.

"I am sorry, okay?" Henry pressed his forehead on hers, "forgive me…"

It was the first time he had felt so mad at him. Those sad eyes were not his way of doing things.

"Henry," she whispered, "don't be angry, John is only a friend."

"I know," he said as he closed his eyes to not be angry again. "I am jealous, though,… mmm."

She decided to close his lips with a gentle kiss. "I know."

Her giggles welcomed him back as the best part of his day. He loved to see her smile and laugh. However, what he loved more, was to see her happy in his arms.

Those days were the happiest of their lives. There was no pressure, nor opposition to their love. The two families were well known and found it fascinating that the two young teens were going out.

It was a good way to join both of the families, the Hesse, and the Jin family. Grandpa Hesse was a bit shocked and couldn't help but glare at Henry as if he were the one who stole his dear granddaughter, but seeing her so happy, made him stop his schemes to sent Henry to an island in the middle of the ocean.

"What is that?"

One day, Beth saw a strange piece of red paper with some scribbles in Henry's hands. It was a curious thing that suddenly burned as if it was a magic trick.

"Oh my," she said surprised, "is that fire paper?"

Henry looked at her not knowing if it was good to tell her, "… yes?"

"What? Yes? Are you not sure?"

"Sigh… yes, it is, magic paper."

"Why do you have something like that?"

"To surprise you."

"What?"

"To surprise you, I wanted to put a show in your house this evening, maybe that way I can impress your grandpa."

"Sigh… you don't need to do that, he will throw you outside either way," she nodded with a finger on her chin.

Even if he had managed to visit her house many times before and the two men had reached a good understanding, the last few days Henry was chased out without mercy. Well, it was all his fault for daring to enter her room and kiss her, almost eating her mouth.

Grandpa Hesse entered that moment. Henry didn't have another choice but to jump from the window and climb down before the beautiful dogs of the old man trapped him.

"The only dog that likes me in your house is Gandalf," Henry said as he was shaking his head. "Sigh…"

"It is all your fault," Beth sat beside Henry and took his hand from him, "you were the one that provoked everything… sigh… now you can only bear the consequences…" she shook her head in helplessness.

"You shameless girl," Henry laughed, it was true that he kissed her, but she was the one that initiated the whole thing. If it was not for her bet, they would not be in that situation. "I can only feel pity for me for falling for your trap."

"You loved it, don't you?" Beth smiled again and approached him, and he didn't move. He waited for her, but she stopped. "Aren't you going to answer? Well, if you don't want to…"

She made a move to turn back, but he trapped her in his arms.

"You shameless girl," he kissed her again.

That was the last day of High School in the Imperio College. Their sweet days of warmth and sunshine were going to be over in that school, and so many memories of happiness were left in that place.

Beth thought that they will be together from then on. This time, no one would take away the people she loved the most. The caring grandpa and the loving boy of bright emerald eyes found her for the first time.

However, the disaster came as a curse in her life.

"Grandpa!"

She screamed her lungs out when she saw the car of her dear old man get crashed by a big truck]
