The Queen Wicked Deeds
Chapter 111 - Checkmate
The dome of magic was beautiful, the hypnotized students looked at the lights coming from the gardens with eyes wide open.
Anne nodded while watching the many figures inside the dome trying to figure out a way to come out. She was delighted by their fear.
"Well done, Elton," she said as the young boy rested on the chair by her side. He was exhausted.
"Thank you, Master, " he whispered and fell asleep. Poor boy, he had been working non stop and hadn't apply for extra payment.
The dome had wasted his whole magic. Now the Princess had only three hours until the effects of the dome faded away.
"You… what have you done?"
John managed to come closer to the Princess and observed the dome with bright eyes.
"This is a competition, little John…" Anne laughed, "and we can make use of whatever it is at our disposal…"
She didn't finish her words when a sword came to her neck.
"Master!" the four beautiful boys ran towards her, but they couldn't step closer. It was too risky. Only one move and the boy with blond hair would…
"Make it disappear."
"I can't do that," Anne said while still smiling. She was in no way scared on the threat of the handsome youngster. "The power to break that magic should come from a powerful wizard, and… regretfully, I am not one."
"You… you did it on purpose…"
"What?" Anne always do things on purpose. Why was he saying that?
"You let the wizard Druon go away on purpose."
"…"
That was not on purpose, in fact, that damn wizard ruined her plans. She was preparing a team to kidnap him and shoved him into a tower while Blackie guarded the entrance, but the damn wizard had to play with Adam Robinson.
"How long will this last?" John didn't lower his weapon as he saw Billie inside the dome, "speak, princess!"
"Ha… ha… muahahahaha!"
She laughed and then stopped with a smirk. Her eyes shined with delight as for the first time she had managed to pull out her crazy and evil laugh without making anyone laugh… *cough*, cry in fear.
"You are crazy…" whispered John with a terrified face.
"I am…" she said with delight.
Her paper as the evil princess was starting to take form. Now, not only she had managed to control the Academy but she was entrapping her enemies into a powerful barrier. They should now fear her.
"What is your purpose?"
"I already told you, I will win this mission."
"Why are you so eager? This doesn't make sense… you have everything in your life…" John said with a dispirited voice.
Anne only looked at him… "so what?"
He couldn't believe his ears. His sword was now down as he knew that no matter what he did, he won't beat her with simple weapons.
"What?"
"Can't I have more?"
"You are selfish!"
"Selfish? This contest was made to test the selfishness of our souls," she said with a strange serious tone. "Are you not the same?"
"I am… not," he was starting to become furious, "my wish is not the same as yours…"
"Are you sure? How can you know what I wish for?"
"You…" he fisted his hand and looked to the side. It was useless trying to convince the capricious and spoiled princess. "Nevermind…"
He knew that there was nothing he could do but wait. Anne only looked at him with a small smile and took a seat at her table.
Gandalf was ŀɨċkɨnġ the hands of Elton and making him giggle from time to time in his dreams.
"Princess, are you okay?"
One of the FBB kneeled and look up at Anne's face. "Don't worry, I am fine."
She said but she signaled the boys to move to their other mission.
They hesitated. They didn't want to leave the princess with the crazy blonde.
"I will be fine," she said and nodded. "He can't do anything to me."
She was sure that the heart of John was tired of bathing his hands with blood. So she didn't have fear, nor even a small shiver growing in her spine.
The four boys nodded and jumped the balcony right away, they disappeared into the night without a trace.
"Your people… where do you find them?"
"Should I tell you?" Anne looked at the empty plate. Somehow the pastries had vanished and she was starting to grow angry.
Then John looked at her frown and smirked. "You should stop eating that much."
"Why?" She felt that she hadn't eaten enough in this life, why should stop now?
"You are going to…"
"I have the answer of happiness."
"What?!"
"I have the answer of happiness…" she said again and took a little potion from her robes. "This will cure any stomach ache I could possibly have."
"That is not what I meant."
John sighed.
"Then?"
"You will grow fat."
"I can't, I go training every two days…"
"…"
"…"

[Beth…
"When are you going to release me?"
The man seated in front of Beth was someone she had seen once. He was once one of the bodyguards her grandpa hired to protect her.
"We can't do that, my lady."
"Why?"
"We hadn't received the order yet."
"You are not going to tell me from whom, right?"
The man shook his head. However, his eyes looked concerned and tired. So different from the ones that were guarding her before.
She had been still there for a month now, and the constants pains in her stomach and the terrible state of her body had called for an emergency from the one in charge. He discovered how they had been starving and poisoning her and so he removed them from guarding her.
Beth didn't want to ask but the screams outside the door told her that maybe she won't see them again.
However, that didn't mean that she was safe. At least, she knew that the one retaining her didn't mean to kill her.
"Is it uncle?"
The bodyguard didn't answer but signaled her to finish quickly her food. At least, this time, she knew that it was not poisoned.
"Is it another enemy of the Hesse family?"
Again, her question met with silence. However, she didn't stop. She was bored and her bright mind needed a source of entertainment.
The man before her knew her habits well and so he shoved her some books from time to time. But the girl was so brilliant that she finished them in a few hours.
She asked then for paper and a pen. At least, she could create a wonderful novel, a thesis on economics or maths, or something else with her bright mind.
If she managed to escape there, she will become famous and be recorded as a tragic story for future generations. She made the bodyguard promise to publish her books and thesis if she died there.
The man only sighed in helplessness and nodded. At least that way, she will stop talking and nagging and complaining about her tragic life.
"Can we play chess?"
"No."
He will leave crying if he dared.
"Please."
Her eyes blinked several times and then she pouted with her dried lips. She looked pitiful and frail.
"Okay."
He arranged the game and the little pieces of wood on their sides.
Beth knew that she was the worst player of chess in the world, though, she had won many tournaments, she knew that she was cheating.
The bodyguard didn't know that, but he had seen her play in the past and was amazed at how she managed to mock shamelessly the losing party.
He waited to be mocked the same but…
"Checkmate," he said as he widened his eyes. "I won."
Beth narrowed her eyes and sighed. "Again."
He arranged the pieces again and… "Checkmate."
"Again."
"Checkmate."
"Again."
That went for a few more rounds until the winning spree didn't mean anything to the bodyguard anymore.
"Enough!" he shouted when Beth was already crying in shame.
"You cheated," she pointed at him, "how can you do this?"
"I didn't cheat… you are terrible."
"No!"
She crossed her arms and looked at the man. "You cheated."
"You…" he was speechless.
How can that girl manage to win so many times in the past? Did the master bribe every judge or player?
He could do it, but that won't make any sense.
"How did you manage to win in the past?" he had to ask. Nothing was making any sense right now. Maybe the cold had frozen the brain of the girl, or even the poison from before had made her now an ordinary girl.
However, those extensive thesis on the desk were proof of the contrary. She was not in the least retarded, or still ordinary.
"I did win," Beth bit her lip, "but… they were easy."
"Huh?"
The bodyguard leaned his head to one side.
"They were not cheating like you."
"…"
The vein on his forehead was about to explode, but he contained himself.
*Ring*
He looked at the message on his phone and looked at her.
"It is time, Beth."]
Anne nodded while watching the many figures inside the dome trying to figure out a way to come out. She was delighted by their fear.
