The Queen Wicked Deeds
Chapter 134 - Gambling
The crowd ran around in a crazy frenzy.
There was not only one gunshot but several ones inside and outside the Mansion. The bodyguards and the private security of the Hesse House quickly escorted the guests into safe zones while some other tracked the ones making the ruckus. It was not an easy job, as the ones infiltrating the mansion were not the usual common soldiers, but professional ȧssassins.
They hid well inside the Mansion, as some of them disguised as guests. Quite bold of them to mess around with the Hesse House, however, they were not targeting any of the Hesse family. They had set their gazes on a boy with emerald eyes.
*Bam!*
It was chaos, the hall echoed with screams and shouts, even some cries. However, none of them matter to Henry.
"Bam!*
Again, the shots were moving closer to where Henry was standing. But he didn't care.
"Young Master!"
He didn't listen to the one shouting his name. He didn't listen to the bodyguards standing before him trying to shake him. He didn't move.
"Don't…"
He wasn't shot, he was fine and alive, his heart was still beating, and he was in no way hurt. His life was not threatened. However, that was not the same for the one he was holding in his arms.
"Beth… don't…"
He didn't notice from where the shot came, nor did he know why was she targeted. What he knew was that she fainted and a stream of red liquid came from her back, flooding his hands. Her beautiful skin was marked in her blood. Her eyes looking at him with some tears flooding her face.
"Henry…" she whispered, but there was no more energy in her voice, "Henry…"
He felt as if part of his soul was taken away. There was no meaning to anything if she was not with him. He tried to press the wound, he screamed for help but then… he felt how she left the last breath saying one word… "Love."
She was gone.
"No… no… no, no."
He looked at her with panic. There was no sound that could enter his ears, there was no cry, nor shout. Pure fear invaded his heart. For the first time, fear and anxiousness were what his cold heart felt.
"No…" he shook his head. "Beth… don't go… don't go…"
The beautiful girl with golden eyes was looking at him, but her breath had already faded. It was easy to know that she had already passed away. That her soul now was being dragged to another world, and he couldn't do anything.
His eyes filled with tears.
"Beth!"
Then, as his last resource… the magic spell from that time came to his mouth.
"You can't use it," the voice of Mellie tried to warn him, but it was useless, Henry was already wording the spell in his mouth. Then the magic sphere appeared in his hands, the one he won last time in the labyrinth. The one, Beth won for him. It was hers, why won't he use it on her?
"Beth, I won't let you leave me."
A faint glow illuminated Beth's body…

"Who did it?"
Mateo stood behind Henry. They were inside the study of the Mills Mansion and no light was lit in the room. Only the moon was the only one invited inside. However, the gloomy state didn't come from the lack of light, but from the powerful aura of the emerald-eyed young man.
Still, the two of them were not alone. Several men with black masks and black uniforms were holding some other men with injuries on their faces and bodies. They seemed to be about to faint, about to collapse on the floor and bleed to death. If not for the masked men holding them, they would certainly fall.
"The Feller's…" Mateo sighed.
"Who else?"
"The Rivera House and the Yorkes…"
"Why?"
"They were under the orders of two participants on the mission's competition," Mateo gripped his hand. He was trying to control the ire from erupting and going to those two mansions to cause a raid.
"…" Henry's hands fisted. "Who else?"
"I hadn't found the rest," Mateo said with a grave voice. He was not afraid of Henry at that moment, as he was also enraged. He had long considered the girl with beautiful red hair, his little sister. "I will find them… I promise."
He knew that there was a mastermind behind the attempt. And… it was not an ordinary opponent, but someone formidable with the strength to manipulate two participants of the highest houses, and also to hid without shame.
"Good," Henry nodded and took out some other sphere from his poker, "take it with you."
He shoved the sphere, that suddenly transformed into a ring, to Mateo. It was another prize from the competition and from the second task. After all, he had been winning already three consecutive missions.
Mateo looked at the ring and looked at it with a furrowed brow. He didn't know what that thing was for. However, Henry wouldn't give him useless things.
Henry looked at him for a second before returning to the window.
It never stopped to amaze Henry how the magic in the missions worked. He knew that it was allowed to have ȧssistance from others. However, the purpose of the mission had to stay hidden, and it was prohibited to reveal the existence of the demons like Mellie.
There wasn't an explicit rule, but the magic worked faster to erase the memories of whoever was near the extraordinary situations of the mission. Just like the time with the labyrinth and the illusion of the first mission. John and Beth didn't remember, even if after some time, even more, they thought they did something different at that time.
On the other hand, Mateo didn't remember anything about what was inside the room, however, he was certain that he was with Henry. The same as John, he knew that he was with Billie.
However, Beth… she was different.
From the day she woke up from the shot in her back, she started to remember things. She will tell that they were dreams, crazy dreams, and Henry was worried.
"What shall we do with them, Young Master?"
"Vanish them."
Henry didn't have any mercy for the people who threatened his beloved life. Mateo knew it and didn't mind it at all. In fact, he was happy.
"What about Beth?"
"…" Henry frowned. "Start the plan."
"Are you sure about this, Henry?" Mateo whispered. He knew that the thing they were about to do will make her stay away from them again.
"Do I have a choice?"
The missions were dangerous, the people were greedy, and those damn demons were only having fun in making them suffer. Anyway, the more people connected to the missions, the more souls they can manipulate.

"I told you to not use that magic on her," Mellie appeared on the Mills Mansion one day. He had been away for a few days now, and he didn't look good. His appearance hadn't returned to the fluffy little one from before, but he was losing his shine.
"What is going on with you?"
Henry took a sip of his tea and looked at Mellie with a raised brow.
"Nothing much," Mellie sat in front of him and took a cup of tea, "I told you not to use that magic on her, now, the judges up there are giving me trouble because of you."
Henry didn't care. "…"
"Ha…" Mellie sighed, he knew that the young lad would never let her go like that. After all, he is there making the missions and all because of her.
"Why are you here?"
Henry's voice was impatient. He had already set the plan and was waiting for the news, so he didn't have time to meddle with Mellie.
"Can't I be here, taking a cup of tea with my partner?" Mellie took a cookie from his pocket, "Want one?"
"No," Henry shook his head, "tell me…"
"Tch…" Mellie stood up and opened the window of the balcony, "take this…"
He tossed a red card to Henry, "I can't help you anymore after this. You are on your own."
"Why?"
"Did you think that playing with magic had no consequences?"
"Why?" Henry knew that Mellie had lent him a hand with the people managing the souls. He might have received punishment on his behalf. However, there was a feeling that he was not doing it for him, but for Beth.
Mellie only smiled and jumped from the balcony to disappear in the darkness. The moon illuminating his path towards the other world.
Henry looked at the card. It was a spell, he read it several times before it burnt and turned into ashes. "What is this?"
The silly demon hadn't told him why had he left that spell with him, however, Henry knew it was important. Something that he will need to use in the future.
Then from his phone, a message came.
There was not only one gunshot but several ones inside and outside the Mansion.
