The Second Empire of Azeroth
#16 - Khadgar
The Knights pushed the battle line to the triangular intersection, saving Roger a lot of time. However, for the next journey, Roger needed to proceed on his own.
He didn't take the mountain path, as the orcs might have set up an ambush nearby. He tied his horse in a hidden place and then climbed the mountain himself. The journey was rugged, but it was safe.
When he reached the top of the mountain, he saw from afar that Lakeshire was shrouded in fire, with many figures busy, seemingly fighting the fire.
Eagle Eye!
It's humans, the people of Lakeshire.
Roger happily came down from the mountain, mounted his horse, and quickly galloped towards Lakeshire.
The orcs had already retreated, but before retreating, they set fire to the houses in Lakeshire to lay the foundation for their next attack. Mayor Solomon detected this situation and immediately led the hiding people out to fight the fire.
Roger also helped fight the fire, working until night to extinguish the blaze.
After finishing, he pulled aside a familiar person to inquire about his parents' whereabouts.
"Don't worry, I will definitely make the orcs pay the price!"
In the dawn's light, Roger stood up, then mounted his horse and embarked on the road back to Stormwind.
Vengeance against the orcs was not possible with his own strength alone, and even relying on the Stormwind Kingdom's own strength was not enough. Not to mention that Orgrim Doomhammer would soon take the throne, even now, the orcs' strength was still far greater than the Stormwind Kingdom's.
It should be known that in these few attacks, the orcs only used their regular forces, and their warlocks did not participate.
With Stormwind's weak magical power, it was no match for the warlocks at all. And with Stormwind's defenses, it would be difficult to resist the warlocks' fel magic.
Therefore, he must unite all the forces that could be united and strengthen anyone who could help fight against the orcs.
However, he had no say now, and the only thing he could influence was his B Company.
He pondered how to train the new recruits as he hurried towards Stormwind.
But just as he reached the vicinity of Azora's Tower, he saw a team of cavalry coming towards him, led by Lothar.
"Sir?"
Lothar also saw Roger, "Rogers, it's great to see you. Come and give me some advice."
"What happened?" Roger asked in confusion.
Lothar introduced him to the mage and the green-skinned woman behind him, "This is Khadgar, and Garona."
Roger instantly understood that Lothar was going to raid Karazhan.
Sure enough, Lothar explained how Khadgar and Garona discovered that Medivh was acting strangely, and then said, "His Majesty the King thinks we should prepare for war in Stormwind and use Stormwind's solid walls to resist the orcish attack. But I think we should take the initiative and find out if Medivh has betrayed us. But, I'm a little hesitant, after all, Llane is the King…"
"This is not a conflict!" Roger said affirmatively, "Sir, His Majesty the King has given you military autonomy, and you have the right to make any military decisions. Moreover, strategically speaking, passive defense is never advisable. Not to mention whether Stormwind can hold it, even if it can, don't the people of other territories need to be taken care of? Lakeshire, Sentinel Hill, Goldshire, and hundreds of farms and hundreds of thousands of people throughout the kingdom will face the orcs' butcher knife. Therefore, Sir, your decision is correct, offense is the best defense."
Lothar just wanted to ask for peace of mind. After Roger's persuasion, Lothar became even more determined. Medivh was the Guardian of Humanity, a very powerful mage. If he betrayed, it would be an unprecedented disaster for humanity.
"Okay, let's continue. Roger, you come with us too, I need your strength."
Roger hesitated for a moment, he really didn't want to go to Karazhan. With his current strength, he wasn't even enough for Medivh to fill the gaps between his teeth. But then he thought again, Lothar's raid on Karazhan was just a raid to kill Medivh, and the casualties were not very large. Going over at this time was like sending charcoal in the snow for Lothar, and Lothar would definitely not treat him badly in the future.
Balancing the risks and rewards, Roger gritted his teeth and decided to take the plunge!
"Willing to serve you, Sir!"
Lothar happily patted Roger on the shoulder, expressing his great satisfaction. With Roger, a powerhouse who could slaughter dozens of orcs, this operation would be much simpler.
However, he glanced at the bandage on Roger's finger and turned to Khadgar and said, "The mage should have healing spells, right?"
Khadgar shook his head, "No, but we usually use alchemy to make some healing potions, does anyone need one?"
As he spoke, Khadgar took out a red vial from his pocket.
Roger took it, looked at it curiously, "How do I use this?"
"Just drink it."
"Thank you!"
Roger opened the stopper and drank the potion in one gulp. Soon, a hot feeling came from his finger. Roger opened the bandage and saw that the redness and swelling were gradually subsiding, and the pain quickly disappeared.
"It's really amazing."
"Of course!" Khadgar showed a smug smile, "This is a masterpiece of magic."
Magic? Roger thought to himself, mages are indeed the chosen ones!
When he returned to Stormwind, he would definitely try to learn magic.
Khadgar looked at Roger curiously. This young man seemed to be even younger than him, but he could make Lothar listen to him. He must have something extraordinary about him. Soon, he noticed that Roger was not wearing the knight's standard armor, nor did he carry a lance. Instead, he was using a longsword and carrying a bow and arrow?
"Aren't you a knight?"
Roger explained, "Although I have a knight's title, I am from the Eleventh Legion of the New Model Army."
Khadgar didn't quite understand. He had never heard of the Eleventh Legion or the New Model Army.
Lothar said from the side, "The Eleventh Legion is a mixed legion, which not only has warriors, but also many hunters and mage apprentices, cooperating in combat between multiple arms. Roger is both a warrior and a hunter, and is the most powerful member of the Eleventh Legion."
"Wow ~" Khadgar opened his mouth and sighed, but didn't seem too surprised. In his heart, even the most powerful warrior was far inferior to a mage.
Instead, Garona on the side asked in surprise, "Is your longsword the Flame Blade?"
"Flame Blade? What Flame Blade?" Khadgar asked in confusion.
Lothar and the others also looked over, obviously also very interested in the Flame Blade in Garona's mouth.
