The Second Empire of Azeroth
#17 - Deadwind Pass
“The Blade of Flames is the weapon of the Blademaster. Every orc is a powerful warrior, but only warriors of the Blade of Flames clan are the most powerful in combat. Because they receive systematic training from a young age, not only training in combat skills, but also training in affinity with the fire element. When they come of age, they will become apprentices, following the powerful warriors of the clan. These powerful warriors are called Blademasters because they are good at using burning longswords.”
“Burning longsword?” Lothar suddenly thought of something. “So those powerful warriors are Blademasters. No wonder they can easily break through the cavalry blockade.”
The knights turned pale when they heard this.
Then—
“Is that orc a Blademaster?” Roger asked, pretending to be confused, “No wonder flames suddenly appeared on his sword. If it hadn't been in the river at the time, I really wouldn't have been his opponent.”
When the knights heard this, they couldn't help but feel jealous. What a stroke of luck.
Garona took a deep look at Roger. The power of the Blademaster is not all in the Blade of Flames. Wind Walk, Mirror Image, and the ultimate combat skills are the foundations of their lives. Using the fire element is just the icing on the cake for the Blademaster.
Roger's pretense of weakness made Garona feel alert. She always felt that Roger was targeting her.
The shrewd Lothar immediately sensed that something was wrong. He didn't say anything and changed the subject directly.
The group entered Elwynn Forest, passed through Goldshire without stopping, and went directly into Deadwind Pass.
Deadwind Pass is a rugged mountain valley with treacherous roads that are difficult for large-scale military operations and unsuitable for human habitation. Therefore, the Stormwind Kingdom's expansion of its territory stopped here and turned south to Stranglethorn Vale. They would rather compete for living space with thousands of trolls than step into Deadwind Pass, which shows how poor the conditions are here.
The cold wind kept roaming in the mountains, and it took a long time for everyone to light a bonfire. But even with a bonfire, they still couldn't stop the cold wind from invading.
Roger was also shivering from the cold. Out of the corner of his eye, he saw Garona and Khadgar leaning together, and a sneer appeared on the corner of his mouth. If Khadgar knew that Garona was pregnant with Medivh's child, I wonder what he would think.
“Rogers!”
Lothar walked over and said softly, “Garona is now loyal to the Stormwind Kingdom. She is different from other orcs.”
Roger turned his head. “If your parents were also killed by orcs, you wouldn't say such a thing, Sir.”
Lothar was stunned for a moment, and patted Roger on the shoulder with regret, “My condolences.”
He didn't say anything more, but he knew that Roger would not attack Garona. If he wanted to kill Garona, he would have done it long ago.
Roger is a smart man and knows that he needs Garona to go to Karazhan this time.
Garona also heard Roger's words and sighed softly. But she didn't think much about it, because compared to before, this bit of hatred was nothing.
Khadgar looked at Garona and said softly, “Don't worry, I will protect you.”
Garona smiled and teased, “You should protect yourself first, Apprentice.”
Watching the two flirting, the sarcasm on Roger's face grew thicker.
He really didn't mean to kill Garona. Although he hated the orcs, he could still tell right from wrong. To the orcs, Garona was just a hybrid, a tool, and not worthy of being called an orc at all.
Killing Garona would not make the orcs feel heartache, or even care. Roger wouldn't do meaningless things. Instead, letting Garona kill the orcs would make the orcs angry.
This matter needs to be carefully planned.
At night, the cold wind was too strong. Khadgar took out some potions again for everyone to drink. After drinking it, their bodies warmed up, and they took turns sleeping.
The next day, before dawn, everyone was frozen awake again. They cooked some food on the bonfire, and after eating, it was just dawn, so they continued on their way.
Before Medivh died, there were still plants growing in Deadwind Pass, but not many. After all, the environment was harsh, and only those plants that were not very picky about the environment would grow here. Similarly, the lack of plants naturally meant a lack of herbivores, and even fewer carnivores.
Roger asked curiously, “How do you live in such an uninhabited place?”
Logically speaking, such a barren place is not enough to support the operation of a huge magic tower, even if there are not too many people in the magic tower. But with the mages' extravagant nature, even if they searched the entire place, they would not be able to decorate one floor of the magic tower.
Khadgar raised his eyebrows, wanting to show off, “We know magic. As long as we draw a teleportation array, we can teleport supplies back to Karazhan.”
“Do you still need to draw a magic circle to open a portal?”
Khadgar rolled his eyes. “The teleportation array is an advanced spell. Even a strong man like Medivh would draw a magic circle for safety. Otherwise, if something goes wrong, the person or item being teleported will be trapped in the space crack.”
He was angered by Roger. He finally had a chance to show off, but Roger's words hit him hard. Originally, Garona didn't have a good impression of Roger, but now her impression of Roger is even worse.
Roger spread his hands. He really didn't mean to.
After all, in the game, mages just click a skill to open a portal, and then the loading bar is finished. There is no such thing as drawing a magic circle at all.
That's right, there is in the Warcraft movie. However, that Khadgar in the Warcraft movie seems to be more handsome than this Khadgar. It's not that he is wearing colored glasses. After all, actors always have to put on makeup.
And this Khadgar, tired from the journey, dusty, has no intention to dress up? He even forgot to use cleansing.
Cleansing seems to be a paladin spell, mages don't seem to know it, right?
Khadgar frowned when he saw Roger's strange eyes. If it weren't for Sir Lothar, I would definitely let him see the power of the mages.
Some people are born incompatible. Roger and Khadgar may be like this. Even if Khadgar is a great hero in the future, Roger just doesn't like him.
