The Second Empire of Azeroth
#86 - Magic Warship "Demon Slayer"
When Dallas led his army through hardship to the Black Temple, Roger had long since finished the battle. The dragonhawk knights he sent to contact Turalyon had flown away several hours ago.
Of course, the dragonhawk knights were riding Amani warhawks, not dragonhawks.
Dallas was speechless. He felt he shouldn't have come to the Black Temple. He should have turned back when he encountered the fel energy blocking the way... No, he should have stayed in Shattrath and helped A'dal with some defensive work.
Unlike now, he traveled thousands of miles to the Black Temple, preparing for a great battle, but didn't even see a single living enemy, let alone fight.
If it weren't for the many beasts and remaining sporelings encountered on the way, it would have been a purely armed parade.
Roger didn't notice Dallas's depression and said, "You've come at the right time. Have the soldiers clean up here. We'll use this as our base from now on."
"Huh?" Dallas immediately sensed something was wrong when he heard this.
Roger explained, "Ner'zhul opened many Dark Portals. I only closed the one above our heads. Afterward, I used magic to check the other Dark Portals and found demons invading in large numbers. The Dark Portal we came through is already broken. I don't know if the demons destroyed it or Khadgar did."
"So, until we rebuild the Dark Portal, we can't return to Azeroth for the time being!"
Dallas was silent when he heard this.
The draenei who came with him also looked at each other in dismay. They thought that after Roger occupied the Black Temple, he would return it to them like Shattrath. They didn't expect Roger to want to occupy it for a long time.
Seeing the draenei's ugly faces, Roger said indifferently, "Helping you seize Shattrath was our prior agreement. The Black Temple is not within our agreement. However, as allies, you can also live in the Black Temple, but we will occupy the dominant position."
The draenei's faces improved a lot. Although they lost their dominant position, they could still return to their center of faith. Roger and the others would eventually leave. When Roger and the others returned to their own world, they would inevitably return the Black Temple to them.
However, they soon frowned again because the Black Temple was full of shadow energy, which made them feel irritable. Most of them used Holy Light energy and naturally had some repulsion to shadows. Moreover, the Temple of Karabor was a temple of Holy Light, and the ubiquitous shadows reminded them of the dark side of the sacred naaru.
Roger divided the upper and part of the lower levels of the Black Temple to the Alliance, and part of the lower levels to the draenei.
The reassembled draenei numbered several hundred, all combat personnel. Except for a small number of rangers, the others were either priests or paladins. Although their strength might not be great, purifying the shadow energy in the Black Temple was not a problem.
Therefore, Roger needed them.
Although Ner'zhul's opening of the Dark Portal affected the seas of Draenor, it only lowered the coastline by about half a meter and did not have much impact.
The only problem now was how to build a ship?
The original vegetation of Shadowmoon Valley was mainly spore plants. When the orcs attacked the Temple of Karabor, they destroyed the spore forests. In addition, the large-scale use of fel energy almost made Shadowmoon Valley barren. It was too difficult to find wood.
Roger's magic bag originally had a lot of wood, but when he left Stormwind City, most of the supplies were given to Varian, with wood and gold mines accounting for the majority. The wood Roger currently had could only be used to make decks, and he couldn't even build a keel.
He turned his attention to his skill bar. Now, the only thing he could rely on was the skill brought by absorbing the divine essence of life—Breath of Life.
Roger came to the open space outside the Black Temple, placed a wooden board in the sea, and used Breath of Life on the board.
Soon, he felt the life rhythm in the board. Although the tree had already died, under the effect of Roger's spell, it quickly sprouted new buds. The buds gradually grew and spread around, quickly occupying hundreds of square meters of area.
The buds began to take root, and soon branches and leaves grew, and trees rose from the ground.
In one day, a forest grew.
The human warriors were shocked. It was the first time they had seen a spell that could quickly grow trees. The elves and draenei were very happy. The elves were happy because they were naturally close to nature and liked trees; while the draenei really saw the hope of healing Draenor, although the trees Roger planted were not species of this world.
But the next moment, Roger issued an order that made the elves and draenei uncomfortable.
"Cut down these trees and transport them to the dock to make ships."
Then, amidst the elves' and draenei's hesitant expressions, he returned to the Black Temple, because the dragonhawk knight who went to contact Turalyon had just landed on the roof.
The dragonhawk knight brought news from Turalyon that they had returned to Honor Hold. But their situation was not good. To the west was Hellfire Citadel occupied by orcs, to the east was the Dark Portal from which demons were constantly emerging (this Dark Portal did not lead to Azeroth, but was reopened by Ner'zhul, located at the easternmost end of Hellfire Peninsula), and to the south was the ogre territory of Farahlon, where friend and foe were indistinguishable.
It seemed that building ships needed to be accelerated in order to save Turalyon. After saving Turalyon, he still had to save Shattrath. Although there was no Dark Portal near Shattrath, there were Dark Portals in Arak Summit and Nagrand. These two places had no natives capable of resisting the demons.
Roger immediately summoned the draenei craftsmen and elven rangers. The draenei craftsmen mainly manufactured Arkonite crystals and their supporting devices to solve the ship's power and energy problems. The elven rangers mainly helped him check the Apexis crystals to find ways to manufacture large-scale weapons of mass destruction.
The arakkoa's Apexis civilization could create the powerful Breath of Rukhmar, and naturally had designs with less power than it. As long as he could find something suitable for loading onto the ship, Roger could let the demons see what the terror of battleships and cannons was.
Hard work pays off. After everyone searched day and night, they finally found a weakened version of the Breath of Rukhmar, the manufacturing method of the Apexis cannon. Then Roger spent a few more days researching with the draenei craftsmen how to charge the Apexis cannon.
After the Arkonite crystal power pod and the Apexis cannon were installed on the ship, a magical warship named "Demon Slayer" was officially launched, ushering in earth-shattering changes in naval warfare in Draenor and even Azeroth.
