The Stars In Your Eyes

Spring passed in colour, full of rainbow and crystal clear air. Summer following their sister closely. Bring the sweet-scented flowers and earthy green leaves swaying, rejoice in the basking sun. The sun strongly irradiates their love towards the soil and the trees, gives the strength they need to nourish the land.

Bai Yutang doesn't have time to admire the last breath of spring. He was drowned in his project. This is his fourth year, almost every subject required a project to pass. He has two design projects, and four presentations to make. The deadline is in another two weeks, until the end of May.

Today is Saturday morning. His usual alarm will ring at 4 am daily, but on weekends he set it at 6 am. That soft buzz awoke both of them. Bai Yutang pressed the stop button and tried to gather his scattered soul..

Every morning, he woke up in his lover's arms. No matter where he rolls or moves his position, his lover will catch him and put him back. Encircle his whole body in the warmth. Thus the first thing he saw every morning was his lover's frowned expression, from the alarm sound.

Bai Yutang sometimes put his finger lightly on his lover's forehead to smoothen that cease between eyebrows. Or sometimes he will cast a soft kiss.

"Good morning, Gege."

Bai Yutang will spend a few minutes cuddling in his lover's arms. This is one of his favourite moments of his day. Breathe his lover's natural scent, filled his lungs and embedded into his heart.

After his soul is gathered, Bai Yutang will open his eyes and look at his lover's face closely. Admiring his straight shaped eyebrows, those long fluttering lashes, or look at his prominent nose. Bai Yutang's favourite part of his lover's face is that thin sensual lips. That slightly parted pink lips not just always give him strength in words, but also pleasure in bed.

Sometimes Bai Yutang will trace his lover's face with his finger, trying to imprint it not only with his eyes, but also from his touch. The face that always gives him comfort, and the body that gives him protection.

Many times Bai Yutang will sighed, he can't believe the more he knows his lover, the more Bai Yutang opens his heart. The more they interact with each other, the more this love he feels inside grows. And it transfixes their root deep into his heart.

Then he will kiss his lover softly in that beautiful lips he adored, snuggling one more time, and said, "I'll make breakfast first. Go back to sleep, Gege."

Jian Kang Lu will tighten his embrace to his kitten's body, and kiss him back. After that, his kitten will wake up and slowly release himself from his arms, and kiss him once again. Only after that Jian Kang Lu will contentedly continue his sleep.

Maybe because as residents, they all lack sleep. Thus every doctor will appreciate their sleeping time. Now he's a senior doctor, he didn't receive many on call duty in the middle of the night. Only two or four times a month. Every time he was on call, he would turn into a light sleeper and answer the phone quickly.

Luckily his kitten was not a light sleeper and never disturbed with that call.

Every morning, Bai Yutang will cook a simple breakfast. Or sometimes reheat the dinner. If Bai Yutang is busy, he will cook extra portions for dinner, and will just reheat it for their breakfast. That way, he doesn't need to cook twice a day. Even though it was practical, Bai Yutang only did it if he was really busy and tired. 

His lover once said to him, "I used to classify food into two categories. Delicious, and very delicious. But now I have the third category. Taste like heaven."

Bai Yutang didn't need to ask what kind of food his lover put into the taste like heaven category. It was all the dishes he made with his own two hands.

"Eh? Only the food that you cooked? No.. There's another kind of food that belongs to that category." His lover grinned when Bai Yutang answered.

Bai Yutang felt like splashed with cold water. Where did he get so cocky like this? His lover already tastes every kind of delicious and expensive food out there. Why only his cook will belong to this category?

Seeing his kitten's disappointed face, Jian Kang Lu chuckled.

"The other food belonging to that category, is the food you feed me with your two hands. Or your mouth.." That last sentence said with a teasing passionate tone.

It made Bai Yutang blushed, because he also remembered that moment. If they spend their time leisurely reading or watching movies on the sofa, sometimes Bai Yutang will feed his lover the fruits he sliced, or the snacks he made.

And one time, because too many reading Mu Xiaoya's novel recommendation, Bai Yutang has an idea to repay his lover for their fourth anniversary's gift. It seems that his lover is the only one that gives him gifts. He can't give any, but maybe he could try something he read in that novel.

His lover is reading on the sofa. As usual Bai Yutang is also reading, laid in his lover's arms. While he was feeding his lover a slice of golden pear, he put the pear in his mouth and directly fed his lover that way.

The result is far wilder than he predicted. They have to clean the sofa thoroughly again afterwards.

Saturday is always the day for Bai Yutang to cook breakfast, never reheat the dinner. Today he made simple egg toast. The wheat bread is coated with stirred egg, with a sprinkle of himalayan salt and organic ground black pepper. Then fried with a thin layer of coconut oil. It will be served with fresh salad and olive oil dressing. Bai Yutang also will make a hot Japanese green tea, or coffee if his lover has his on call duty last night.

When he finishes, he will take a shower, then wake his lover up with a soft whisper to his lover's ear.

"Gege, wake up. The breakfast is ready."

To smell that fresh scent after his kitten showered, will awake Jian Kang Lu in a very bright mood to start his day. He will hug his kitten tight and try to inhale that nice and fresh sensation to tickle his olfactory nerves.

Jian Kang Lu opened his eyes, and pampered his optic nerve with his kitten image. The face he adored so much, and it was a blessing to see it as the first thing he saw when he opened his eyes.

Jian Kang Lu will wake up and kiss his kitten softly in the forehead. Then they will have breakfast together.

"This egg toast is really delicious. Did you change the bread?"

Bai Yutang nods, "En, i'm using the wheat bread from the bakery near the bus station. It's better, right?"

Jian Kang Lu nodded and happily finished his toast. Then he kissed his kitten cheek when he came to fill his cup with steaming green liquid.

"Why is my baby so good to me? I must be the luckiest man on earth."

Bai Yutang's soft gaze will emerge to hear those words, and he will return the kiss to his lover's head.

"Gege, today I'll wait for you in the cafe. I need to do my project. No need to rush. Just take your time."

Jian Kang Lu nodded to hear that, last week his kitten was also doing his project in the cafe inside the hospital. He knows maybe better for his kitten to do his project at home instead of following him to the hospital. 

But habit is a scary thing. Once you get used to the presence of your lover accompanying you, it will never be the same if he needs to do his Saturday round alone.

Jian Kang Lu took a shower, and dressed up casually. A light green shirt and a black pants. He rolled his shirt to the elbow. Summer is coming and the weather is humid.

Bai Yutang washed the dishes and cleaned up, then prepared his stuff also. This month's gift is a new tablet with a similar leather case. Brown, engraved with number 15 and his initial. All his gadgets are synchronised nicely now, and it helps him a lot to do his project faster.

They will chat in the car.

"Gege, what will we bring to Xie Jie's birthday tonight?"

Sun Hongjia's wife, Xie Lihua, will have a birthday party today. She invited them to her house. This is the first time for Bai Yutang to go to his lover's friend's house. 

Bai Yutang is like all his lover's friends. They are all smart, highly educated, and always treat him good. Bai Yutang's first impression of Xie Lihua is a very delicate and tender lady with serene nature. After all, Xie Lihua is the wife of Sun Hongjia, heir of Sun Group. They even smell like money.

Until he saw Xie Lihua singing and dancing in the karaoke room. That horrible noise coming from those tiny cute lips, and the wild dancing with her husband carried with the same serene expression. Really a bad and hilarious combination, and Bai Yutang could only admire these crazy people. They were really a professional of displaying a calm and gentle image to the outsider, but know how to party hard with their closest one.

Jian Kang Lu answered his kitten, "I already ordered an earring in T jewellery store, we need to pick it later after my round."

"Is that the earrings you asked me last week?"

"En, I order the one you choose. In terms of artistic sense, you're much better than me."

It was an asymmetrical earrings, with the right ear shaped like a bird's wing enveloped the earlobe, and the left was a thin chain with a black pearl hanging.

After Jian Kang Lu finished his round, he picked his kitten up in the cafe and had lunch together there. Today he didn't take his resident for lunch. They still need to go to the shopping mall to pick the earrings.

"How's your project? Do you have any difficulty doing it? Need me to help?"

"You already helped me with the presentation, Gege. It's only the landscape project and urban development."

Jian Kang Lu teases his kitten, "I can do well for landscapes. Just a simple call to Zhen Guo and it will be done."

Bai Yutang laughed, "Gege!!"

This is their joke since last month they met Zhen Guo for dinner. At that time, they were talking about his university project. Luo Jiao, Zhen Guo's wife, said to Bai Yutang, "If you have any difficulties, contact me. My husband's firm can do it for you, and we will send the invoice to him." Luo Jiao points her thumbs to Jian Kang Lu.

Then Luo Jiao whispered to Bai Yutang, "Why take a hard route when you have an easy one? This poor guy also didn't know how to spend his money. Better he paid my husband for your project, and I can buy new shoes this month with that money. You're happy, Jian Ge happy, and I'm happy. You have to admit your Luo Jie is smart, right?"

Jian Kang Lu and Zhen Guo nod, Bai Yutang flatters this peacock that flaunts her feathers, "Luo Jie, you're really smart! That's a good idea. Now I know why Gege and Zhen Ge always said that Luo Jie is always right. You're really the smartest among us."

Luo Jiao snorted and raised her nose, "Men's intelligence could never defeat us, women's. Our double X chromosome naturally will defeat your unstable Y chromosome."

This is one of the reasons Luo Jiao likes Bai Yutang. This young man seems to be shy and not talk active. But his sense of humour is not bad, and the most important thing was he knows how to flatter a woman.

Luo Jiao remembers a quote by Marcus Aurelius, a Roman Emperor and philosopher. 'Waste no more time arguing about what a good man should be. Be one.' 

Bai Yutang is a man without many words, but he is always polite and shows his respect to them as his older acquaintances. And occasionally, he also knows how to get along with jokes and didn't hold his laugh when he heard one.

A man that knows how to place himself. And that's a sign of a good man.
